I bought this to install in the trunk space of my 2003 Honda Civic EX. Was told by a Crutchfield operator that it would not fit upright in my trunk, but it does, thankfully (however I didn't have enough power cable to be able to face the woofer towards the trunk lid). I have it powered from the battery with 4 gauge cable with a 100 Amp in-line fuse, the ground is attached to a bolt in the trunk under the carpet, two RCA cables and one radio signal cable run from the trunk to the dash and behind the radio, and the remote control cable runs to the center console, and that's all there is to it. Really easy installation, nothing complicated at all, they even provide the alan wrench for you to tighten the cables into the adapters they provide. I have this hooked into my Pioneer DEH headunit, and it works great in unison with my Pioneer 6 1/4" front door speakers and the 6 x 9 Rockford Fosgate rear speakers. The vinyl outside covering is great for keeping the outside from getting damaged and keeping it looking nice as well, and the woofer grill is nice and sturdy, as is the entire housing. This thing is a beast in terms of weight, though, it manages to make the thin, wooden cover over the spare tire sag a bit, but that's not a problem. It also comes with Velcro strips to keep it from sliding around the trunk. I was able to play quite a range of music on this before this review, and I must say, this thing works wonders no matter what genre of music you're listening to. It frees up the low end frequencies from your other speakers, allowing them to focus on the mids and highs, and in-turn, ensures that there is generally little to no distortion when the lows and highs sound off at the same time, because totally different speakers are dealing with each now. You can get some serious kick out of this sub (I was able to rattle the gutters, window frames, and garage door of the house where I was installing it). It can really shake the car and get uncomfortably low and loud if you want it to. Getting the right settings for the crossovers and the gain and bass-boost is the key to making this thing live its potential. You want the crossover levels set on the headunit or the subwoofer itself to be around 100 Hz or so, and then set the speakers in the car (using the headunit) to have a HPF (High Pass Filter) of 80-100 Hz. This way, the subwoofer and the speakers overlap just a bit, but not enough to really step on each others toes. You'll have to play around with your own setup to determine where the best placement of the gain and bass boost is. This subwoofer is all you'll ever need unless you're looking for something really specific, and coming in an enclosed, complete package for this price, you really can't beat it. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to bring out the lows in their car audio system without the hassle of buying the woofers, enclosure(s) and amplifier and wiring it all separate like that, this is much, much easier.

My expectations for this sub were exceeded in every category. For the ~$300 I paid, this would have been a good deal if it worked half as well, but it doesn't just work, it absolutely kicks ass when driven, better than anything else in its size and cost range. I'm frankly stunned at how nice looking the cabinet is and how deep and powerful the bass is. The Bass Boost circuit definitely helps drive even more bass so I just leave it wide open and only throttle it using the remote. It sounds deep and rich on everything. The power connector is serious and well thought out. The controls are sensible and plentiful and good quality. The included remote at no additional cost is a very nice bonus considering others charge $40+ for theirs. I had a hard time telling the difference between this model and the Truck version but I am delighted that I chose this one. This replaced my 10-year old Infiniti 200W 10" Basslink (which was incredible for its size). I tried the top of the line Bazooka first, which failed miserably even at $100 more - its nowhere near as nice as the Rockford. On Mounting: The first photo is the final mounting with brackets, and the 2nd photo is from when I was testing it out before mounting it. It rocked both ways but definitely transfers more bass into the chassis when mounted to it. I saw that it included huge strips of velcro for mounting, but I decided to mount mine directly to my wood frame in my Sprinter, using a bunch of metal rack ears I had lying around. It worked out quite well and has great subsonic transfer to the entire van chassis. The Basslink did this well too, and the Rockford Fosgate does it even better, louder, and deeper. I'm in bass bliss! I'm so happy with this purchase - it really feels like a high end piece of gear with a shockingly low price. Thank you Amazon and Well done Rockford Fosgate!

I bought this on February 25, 2017. It's been over 2 years and it sounds just as good as the day I got it. I play a lot of electronic music with heavy bass on the daily so this sub has been doing really well keeping up with me. I'm not an audio expert. I'm just some dude that was looking to replace a blown out factory radio on his 05 Honda Accord and got a bit carried away. After watching plenty of how-to videos on youtube, I was able to install this sub without much trouble. This sub actually outlasted my Pioneer head unit. When I first installed the sub, I paired it up with a Pioneer DEH-X6800BT which had 2 volt preamp RCA output ports. It sounded great. I was hearing the full bass range from low to mid bass. But I was a bit disappointed with the amount of sound it was producing. I was cranking up the remote gain dial to the max and I noticed that the sound level didn't increase after about 3/4th of the way on the gain dial. At the time, I thought this was the limit of the built in amp in the sub. The bluetooth connection eventually died on the head unit so I decided to upgrade it to Sony MEX-XB120BT which has 5 volt preamp outputs. This made a huge difference. Paired with the Sony head unit, the sub will will distort if the gain is high enough. Nowadays, I keep my remote gain knob at about quarter of the way or less and I still get plenty of shaking bass. So my point is: Pair this sub with a head unit with higher preamp voltage to tap into the full potential of this sub. Another thing I noticed was that the Velcro strips that comes with the sub wasn't enough to secure it in place. Every time I was driving up a hill, the sub would flop around in my trunk. I saw another reviewer complaining about this and he ended up using tie downs to secure it in place. I did the same and had no problems since. Regarding how I positioned my sub, I have it firing towards the rear of the trunk and the sub placed right up against the back seat. I tried different positions but for my Accord, this was the best sounding position to me. One tip if you are installing this on a family sedan: if you have a rear center arm rest and it happens to have a hatch that opens into the trunk, keep that hatch open. Your bass will sound much louder. Lastly, I'm going to list the audio settings I use: NOTE: With the setup I listed below, i'm using Kenwood Sports series 6.5 and 6x9 speakers powered by Sony MEX-XB120BT head unit. Your setup might sound better with different settings but i'm providing this as a good place to start if you are clueless about what settings to use. * 15% on the gain knob (change this one up with the remote knob depending on the song). * 0% on the bass boost knob. (I noticed that raising this seems to interfere with your head unit's EQ. it sounds like you're losing a lot of mid bass and overall makes it sound quieter because of this) * X-over to max at 200Hz (assuming your head unit has a LPF, if not, set this to 80Hz to 100Hz range. If you set both the X-over and the head unit's LPF to the same range, it will delay the sub's bass drops at times) * On the head unit, LPF set to 80Hz with mid to high slope. Mid for fuller range of bass and high for punchier bass. Most people recommend high slope. * HPF on your head unit to 80Hz with same slope as LPF. If you overlap them (LPF to 100Hz and HPF to 80Hz for example) you're going to get really loud mid bass. Unless this is what you are going for, keep them at the same cut off frequency. * Flat EQ on the head unit gives the most balanced sound. If you want to annoy others or want a back massage, by all means, crank up the bass. I recommend this sub.

UPDATED FOR 2025: After 8 years of steady use and abuse, it appears the power amp section (or power supply) has finally bit the dust. I can't tell you how many thousands of hours (literally) that I've used this sub, with great results! Bad thing is, if I need to replace it - the price has more than doubled from 182.00 in 2015 to 389.00 in 2025. Will update if it's fixable. Woah. Talk about easy set-up! I bought this subwoofer with intention of adding it to my car's factory system, which I did... 3 years after-the-fact. Why the delay? After having issues finding a place in my car's firewall to run the power lead, I shelved the project. I just didn't realize it would be 3 years before I got back at it. Here's the kicker (no pun intended)... This powered sub was shipped directly from Rockford Fosgate—to Amazon—straight to me. Confirmed. When I opened the box, I realized that it was missing nearly all of the accessories it was supposed to have & I was unable to install it (again). But this was 3 years later? No more warranty. SOL? NO! I called Rockford Fosgate & explained the situation to them. Most companies would've just wrote me off & I would've had to order the parts one-by-one (even though it was their mistake in not packing them in the original container). Just how it typically works... The sales reps were awesome, & after a bit of time conversing, THEY were able to round up the missing parts, ship them to me within the same week—free of charge! They made it right when they didn't have to. THAT ALONE is worth a great review. The sub is everything it promises to be! I use it maybe 1/3 of the way up & it's plenty of thump to meet my receiver's best volume levels. It's ported & puts out extreme SPLs. Don't get the more expensive boxes & separate amps before trying out this guy? I got the 300W, 12" version. The built-in crossover is smooth, with a wide "Q," so no phase issues (there's a phase polarity switch that tackles that, if needed). I only docked 1 star because of the "Bass Boost" circuitry. It's supposed to be set at 45 Hz (where I hoped it would be), but seems to be centered higher at almost 60 Hz (aka rumble & "boom" territory, rather than deep sub terrain). Other than that (which is minor), you won't find a better powered sub of any caliber anywhere near this price-range! TIP: Don't drive it "max" right out of the box. Break it in first. As with any coned-speaker, you have a play it for dozens of hours before it gets "broken in." New, it will distort some. KNOW that this is typical with most paper or poly-coned speakers of any type. After this, the sub is smooth, hard-hitting & has very little audible distortion (unless it's extremely pushed). And the exterior is super-durable, runs SUPER cool, no overheating.

I just received this sub today and have yet to see how well it performs. I'll add some images to the review and update it as I go. My factory deck was just getting old and all of my old speakers were blown from age and deteriorated. I decided to get new speakers. I decided after reading all of the reviews that the Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch Powered Subwoofer was one that I should give a try. The sound is now rounded out well. I am still making adjustments and tweaking, but the rear view mirror shakes good with kick drums and bass now, MUCH harder than the Sound Ordnance. You can feel the kick drums and bass notes with this thing. One thing I DO want to mention; this is a 2001 Chevy Blazer with 150,000 miles on it and it is a great truck, but it is getting older. I maintain it well and think I may get 250,000 miles out of it if I keep up the maintenance. The thing I'm getting at is bass notes and vibration. Vibration destroys the sound of a good system. Dynamat and other sound deadeners are an expensive option for this problem. I have the system cranked pretty high (as high as I can take it), and with the Apline amp, my speakers and this monster sub, there are no rattles, inside or outside of the truck. I have made sure every clip on the panels is secured or broken ones replaced and have blown out the inside of my doors with an air hose. You won't need Dynamat in a Blazer unless you listen to a lot of rap. The system is capable of making the car shake, but I don't want that. I just want sound that is undistorted that I can hear as loudly and cleanly as possible and this system can be turned up louder than I can take it with no problem. The RF Sub can certainly pound you out of the car, but it is just one 12" speaker. It doesn't take up a lot of room, but it is large and you need large if you want to "feel" the air of the music. It is not a competition sub. It is priced right for the money and should probably be more expensive. As one reviewer stated, this sub can be punishing and still remain clear. You HAVE to adjust the filters and settings in order to dial it in. My first impression is an ear-to-ear grin, but I know that subs take a while to break in; just like shoes. The longer you use them, the better they get. If you are thinking about this sub, just get it and try it. Amazon offers 30 day returns so all you'll be out is the wiring kit for it and your time. This sub is easy to hook up, but it will take you about three hours of steady work to get everything run correctly (it took me longer), and strapped down. The Kickers are bright and the JBL's are warmer in tone and with Kicker KS Series coaxial speakers in the rear doors and the JBL's up front in the doors (with the Alpine 50 x 4 (RMS) D-Class 4-Channel Power Amp, it sounds like a concert hall. The dash tweeters are still evident and I can hear them, but with 4 powered tweeters built into each amplified door speaker, all of the tones blend in well. I listen to Country, Rock, Jazz, Rockabilly, Jazz. With this system and the Rockford Fosgate Powered Subwoofer, it immerses you in the music and you FEEL it and feel it HARD! It is just like hearing the bands live :) I don't like the Rockford Fosgate connectors. The "quick-disconnect" is anything but quick and easy. The instructions were pretty dismal as well. I have yet to dial in the lows exactly, but I'm close. I am adding some photos, but for some reason they uploaded upside down. I'm not sure how this happened. The Rockford Fosgate is held in place with a Walmart tie-down Cambuckle. There is NO WAY that that Velcro they threw in the box will ever hold down a large, relatively heavy box such as this one. The Cambuckle is 6 feet long and works well. As of now, I would HIGHLY recommend this powered sub. You can't beat it for the price. LOTS of power in a small package. The sub rounded out my system and now its great for me :)

I usually don’t review items but I needed to for this powered subwoofer. P300-10 is what I settled on after much research and I’m glad that I chose it. 2021 TrailBoss crew cab. Factory non Bose stereo. My only complaint is the bad information about not needing a Remote wire to act as the amps initial turn on. You DO need to hook this up to 12v keyed power. My sub would NOT turn on otherwise as it did not sense the signal coming from the tapped rear speakers at all. I spent a couple of hours troubleshooting checking continuity and resistance and ohms and everything checked out. I ended up running a temp remote wire to see if the sub would fire up and it solved everything. Great 10” powered subwoofer from RF fills the cab beautifully. I did also change out all 6 cab speakers with Pioneer A-Series Plus 2 ways to take all the mid-highs no amp needed for these. Great Powered Subwoofer for all in one has plenty of nice tight bass and blends very well with some minor adjustments. Fit under rear seat with 1” to spare. Don’t forget your in line 120 amp fuse block under 18” from battery.

This sub was perfect in my Camry 2018. This sub packs a punch and the dials is ideal for customization. It took me a long time to decide which subwoofer to get but this was a good choice since it was easy to install myself. The prices for subwoofer is expensive so this was a good budget option since I didn’t have to buy a separate amp.

Benutze ihn in einem RAV4 zusammen mit dem serienmäßig eingebautem JBL Soundsystem. Woofer Lautstärke ist auf Minimum eingestellt und trotzdem haut's das Auto schier auseinander. Klare Empfehlung!

Definititivamente recomiendo este subwoofer, la calidad de su sonido es excelente supero por mucho mis expectativas, si estas dudando en comprarlo o no, no lo pienses. Despues de probar con otros 2 subwoofers planos debajo del asiento (aunque este es un poco mas grande), no hay comparacion en cuanto a profundidad, nitidez y calidad del sonido.

Bought these for kids cars. Been running them for months now - kids had to turn them down to 30-40% hehe. Very happy with the ease of installation, appearance and sound. Neither car has a huge trunk but these subs have a small foot print. I did not install the aux controller that came with them, set your levels on the sub itself and enjoy. Competition level sound? No. Enough to rattle windows and annoy the neighbors? Cause hearing loss? Absolutely.
