Excellent Do It All Reel
I purchased this reel after my 15+ year old abu Garcia spinner broke, so needless to say I was behind the times of modern reel technology. Comparing this reel to that one is night and day. To start off, the reel is as beautiful as a fishing reel can be, with an opalescent purple color befitting the regal name. It is very lightweight, with a carbon resin body instead of steel like my old reel. Reeling in your line is an absolute pleasure; with 10 ball bearings and Daiwa's proprietary airdrive rotor, it's hard to beat the smoothness at this price point. The reel is offered in several sizes. I ordered the 3000, which seems to be a good, all round size for trout, bass, etc. However, if you are looking for a reel for your ultralight build, consider the 1000 size for its blend of light weight, smoothness and tech at a competitive price point. Likewise, the reel is offered at up to a 6000 size for those targeting salmon and steelhead regularly. I have only had the pleasure of fishing with this reel about 10 times so far, but part of that was a 2 day lake trip where I fished with it all day. The reel is as easy to use as any other, and features a simple dial on top to set your drag. It functions same as any other spinnner, with a switch up front to allow rotation in both directions, a standard bail, and standard drag dial, but the performance is where the reel really shines. Drag is easy to set on the fly or in the middle of a fight (though not as simple as a baitcaster). If you are looking for an excellent all around reel, you cannot go wrong with daiwa regal Lt. It is my new go to reel for lake and river fishing.

Ten trout say this reel does exactly what Daiwa promises
Took it out on a Utah reservoir today for the first time. Brought in ten good-sized trout without a single hiccup from the reel. I'm not a casual fisherman, and I don't give equipment the benefit of the doubt just because it has a good reputation and looks nice. This reel convinced me on the water today. We were after trout on one of Utah's reservoirs (catch-and-release), and the reel handled everything I asked of it. The drag responded smoothly every time a fish made a run, which on a lively trout happens fast and without much warning. The retrieve was even and the line lay looked clean throughout the day. Ten fish is a reasonable field test, including one that weighed about three pounds, and nothing gave me a moment's concern. That gives me confidence about durability. The reel size is terrific, noticeably light in hand. That matters on a long day. By the time you've been casting for a few hours, a heavy reel starts to feel like a punishment. This one didn't. The drag system is the standout feature for me. It engages quickly and adjusts smoothly, without the grabbing or stuttering you sometimes get on reels in this range. I didn't have to think about it, which is exactly what you want when a fish is running. One practical note for buyers: the price on this reel has moved around. Before you purchase, it's worth a quick look at the price history. A little patience might save you a few dollars, and the reel will be just as good whenever you pull the trigger. Value Rating: Delivers. A full day on the water with zero issues and ten fish to show for it is about as straightforward an endorsement as I can offer. Bottom Line: If you open water and want a reel that handles well, this one is worth your consideration. Check the price history first and buy when it works for your budget. ~ Thomas Tried and True

Quality reel
The reel itself is very smooth, although the one I received had either been returned and resold or was a demo model. It had been repackaged poorly and shipped obviously not in โbrand newโ condition (despite being listed as brand new). That said, the reel itself has worked great. This next season will be the best test of it, but so far there have been no issues with setup or practice casts with washers in the backyard. I purchased this on the strength of the Daiwa brand name and history. If anything goes wrong I will revisit my review, but my initial setup and tests have been very positive.

Good all around reel.
Very nice action and durable Iโve been able to pull in anywhere from 10lb channel cats to small panfish with ease. The drag system on diawa has always been a safe bet.

Best UL reel you can get for the money, in my opinion.
Best UL reel you can get for the money, in my opinion. It is very smooth, light weight and has a generous spool capacity. Just make sure you get the 2024 model, which is a significant upgrade from previous years. To mention an example. The Okuma Ceymar 1000 series weights 6.9oz and has a 6lb/110 yds fluorocarbon spool capacity. The Daiwa Regal 1000 series weights 6.3oz and has a 6lb/160 yds fluorocarbon spool capacity.

Well balanced little reel - a delight to use!
First dayโs use on a small creek. Reel was flawless - a big improvement on my previous small Daisy Regal (over 10 years old now!). Very smooth, everything just worked as it should. Great value for money.
