Powerful Precision Weighing Scale When Accuracy is Critical
This is a fabulous High Precision Digital Weight Scale. I am most pleased I can push a button, weigh my measuring unit, then hit the button on the left, which subtracts the weight of the weighing tray so that the screen reads 0.000 g and then, since I need to have precisely 0.015 grams of a powder, easily get this precise amount. Then, with a large flip open cover, I can leave the weighing tray on the unit, my weighed power in the weighing tray, put down the cover to protect the powder, and have this meager dosage ready to take with my 120 mg. dosage of Armour Thyroid medication for my thyroid at 4:00 a.m. I don't even have to find my bifocal glasses to see anything! Doing this, this way, saves me over $50 monthly. , I couldn't have asked for a better product to assist me. I did a lot of research to find the proper scale, and this one easily meets all my powder needs for any of my multiplicity of supplements where the dosage is 1/8th of a teaspoon or less up to 20 grams. Currently I use other teaspoons which I level off with a knife. And, once I figure out how to use a drop, a smidgen, a pinch, a dash or a tad, I will be using those measuring tools with this unit as well. Additionally, I could use this unit because it also weighs oz, ct , ozt, dwt, gn, and utilized high precision sensors to ensure the advanced accuracy of 0.001 grams and capacity of 20 grams. The set comes with a set of tweezers, weighing tray, with a dipping area if you are working with fluids, and two 10 kg calibration weights. The unit also features a flip open cover to protect the scale's platform besides a back lit screen for easy visibility. In fact, since the summer of 2014 I have been having hypothyroid issues, where my dosage of Armour Thyroid has had dramatic swings, the loss of 40 lbs. over 3 months, the weight gain of 40 lbs over 2 months, and intense chronic fatigue, etc. Then, when I learned (no benefit of my MD or Pharmacy) to separate iron and magnesium by 4 hours before as well as after my thyroid pill consumption, my thyroid medication settled down to more normal numbers. But, my thyroid is still in a state of flux. I also commenced dicing a raw beet a day to assist my thyroid as well as eating 2 Brazil Nuts daily for my selenium level. This caused my thyroid medication to be reduced to 135 mg. daily from 150 mg and may again decline as my system gets regulated with beets, Brazil Nuts, and no magnesium or iron within 4 hours either side of my thyroid medication. Yet, this dosage of 135 mg. is not a normal one and becomes 2 prescriptions, and thus costs me for 2 prescriptions. Got to love the drug companies who've really figured out how to .... I refused to purchase the 0.015 mg dosage (the size of a tiny nail head). But, I've a goodly supply of 300 mg thyroid medications, which I was slicing into 1/2 or 150 mg which would cost me for 1 prescription and last for 2 months, thus saving me $50. My dosage used to be 90 mg. This kept my medical cost reasonable. So, I ground up the excess supply into powder. Each evening, I use my Heathrow Scientific HD 15909 Spatula with Flat End and Spoon End, 9" Overall Length, to select a wee amount of this powder, and put it in a measuring cup on this scale. It is so easy to get precisely 0.015 grams. If I need tweezers to select a smaller amount of powder, I do that as well. One of the greatest features of this Smart Weigh is the fact you can easily weigh the tare (weighing tray), and once you have that, that tare weight unit is known by the system. Then, push the button on the left, your scale will read 0.000. This makes it so easy for me to read precisely 0.015 grams. I truly hope this information is of help to you. And if any of you have thyroid issues, it doesn't matter which thyroid medication you use, the thyroid medication will not work correctly unless you separate by 4 hours your taking of magnesium or iron, and iron is in everything except for milk products and a few candies. Even yogurt which has fruit on top has iron in it and will interfere with your medication. This period is 8 hours and not a millisecond less! I'm so glad I made this purchase and it has a place of honor on my kitchen counter.

You can't find a better scale than this!
I've used this same scale for around a decade now and it never fails to amaze me at how high quality it is! It usually lasts me a few years and only breaks due to human related issues (e.g. dropping it too many times) and even then, it's very surprising at how much it can take before problems do actually start to occur. The case/box it comes in is very sturdy and helps keep it safe and secure when you're not using it. It's also very easy to calibrate due to the two 10g weights that it comes with, and the instructions tell you how to do it in just a minute or so. Overall, it's absolutely unbeatable in every way whatsoever and I highly recommend it to anyone needing an accurate milligram scale without spending a fortune.

Fantastic long lasting scale that hasn't failed me yet.
I've had this for 6 years now, it's continued to work fantastic. It's pretty high quality and have used it to measure out peptides many times. I don't use it much, and might have had to replace batteries once since I've had it, so great battery life. It's small and lightweight, can fit in a coat pocket or any drawer. Super easy to use and calibrate. It's increased by 50% since I bought it, sigh. I recommend it.

Nice Little ACCURATE Scale
More accurate then my $170.00 OHAUS YJ103 Jewelry/Gold Scale, I compare the weights I was getting against the YJ103 Digital scale and my trusty OHAUS Made RCBS 10-10 Beam scale and the readings were close to perfect if you plan on using this to weigh in Grains for Reloading. Now the reason I gave it only 4 Stars is because of two Minor things. #1 It has no Built in Bubble level nor can you screw the 4 Pads/Feet on the bottom to make it level, which is a necessity if you want accuarte weights, I plan on buying a small piece of flat Marble Floor Tile from Lowe's or HD to set this little bugger on and to that I will install 4 little pads that can be adjusted in or out. #2 The weighing area this scale is about 1.5" round (About The Size Of A Checker Game Piece) which has a stamped impression in it the size of a Quarter, which is just big enough for the TINY TINY pan they include in the box, I tried to use the Bigger Plastic Pan that came with my OHAUS and it fit but was unstable because of the recessed stamped impressing in the middle, I found that if you moved it (Bigger Pan) a tiny bit the readings were all over the place, So I'm going to search and see if I can find a nice little pan that will fit so I can Trickle Powder into it. Other then that this little scale is worth every Penny of the $16.00 I paid, In fact I wish I would have purchased this Brand instead of the JUNK OHAUS I'm now stuck with and DO NOT TRUST.

Perfect for accurately portioning medications for my cat! Very accurate for milligram amounts.
I got this tiny scale to accurately split pills for my cat. I found that my pill splitter was extremely inaccurate, and when the dose increased to 3/4 tablet, a pill splitter would not work. I can now accurately cut a pill into several pieces and get to the correct dose by adding small pieces to the little measuring pan to get to the 67mg dose I need. Very quick and easy. It comes with two calibration weights - one varied a tiny bit from 10g, but one was exactly 10g and works for periodically checking the accuracy. I have been using the scale daily for 3 months and it continues to be very accurate. I could not manage the dosing without it. The little pan is especially helpful. Keep in mind that the total capacity is only 20 grams, which is less than an ounce. It is definitely not a kitchen scale.

Excellent choice for weighing pet meds
I needed a replacement millligram scale to weight out daily powdered meds for our pooch, and this was my choice. So far, it has been excellent. Small size yet functional and accurate. Unlike a prior scale we used, this one does not suffer from a “floating zeropoint” issue at low weights. I can tare out the weighing planchet to zero, and then sprinkle the powder until I get the weight I need. With some scales in this range, trickling tiny amounts fails to register on the scale—big problem. I checked the accuracy using some known low weight items, lower than the 10 gram weights provided, and it’s spot on. I would recommend for this use. Just don’t expect it to be able to weigh out single digit low milligram quantities…you’ll need to spend hundreds of $$ to do that.

What A Piece Of Crap
Other than books, this is the first item I’ve ordered from Amazon. From start to finish it’s been a horror show. Amazon’s packaging and shipping system leaves much to be desired. But that’s another story. As to the scale itself. When it arrived, I first looked at the data on the box. Among other things, it says the contents include two 10 kg weights, used for calibrating the scale. Hate to be the bearer of ill tidings, guys, but a “kg” is a thousand grams. It would be hard to use them on a scale that only measures to 20 grams in the first place. The weights are titularly 10 grams each. I say “titularly,” because, as we’ll see, there is no reason to believe they actually weigh that. The box info also says there’s a set of tweezers included. Hold that thought. Next I opened the box. Included was the scale, the two weights, and a so-called instruction manual. But, alas, no tweezers. There’s a molded cavity where they’re supposed to be. But whoever boxed this scale at the factory must have thought they were an unimportant part of the package, so left it out. The manual, itself, is somebody’s idea of a joke. First off, it’s written in tiny characters. Just guessing, I’d say about five point type at best. Even with a magnifying glass it was hard to read. And the information is self-contradictory. Under the heading “calibration,” there are multi-stage instructions on how to calibrate the scale if necessary. Among them is a caution to check that the readings given fall within the allowable tolerances. “See chart below,” it says, to find out what they are. There is no such chart. The closest is a line in a box that provides specifics about the scale, that says: “Calibration: Self-calibrating.” Uh, huh! Let me get this straight. Smart Weigh provides half a page of instructions for calibrating its product, and then tells you it isn’t necessary to do so. The real crux of the matter is that it certainly is necessary. Turning the scale on, with the setting in grams, the screen---which is very readable, I’ll give them that---zeroed out as it’s supposed to. I then put one of the weights in the center of the pressure plate. After bouncing around, up and down from 10.000, it finally stabilized at 9.999. That’s a full milligram off (unless you measure the way the Smart Weigh does, in which case it’s 9 grams). Repeating this with the second weight was worse. After bouncing around from as low as 9.994 to as high as 10.001, it finally stabilized at 0.996. Four milligrams off (or 4 grams if you prefer). An earlier review at this site suggests that outside conditions cause the fluctuations, and that the problem can be solved by lowering the cover. This doesn’t work when using the weights, because they’re too tall and the cover won’t seat properly. More to the point; with nothing on the pressure plate, closing the cover changes the reading by more than two grams from the zeroed setting. That’s actual grams, not the company’s version of measurements. Next I tried calibrating the scale, using the company instructions. This entails, as a final step, stacking the two weights. Reaching that point, I dutifully placed the second weight on top of the first. Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce until finally stabilizing at 19.994. Now six milligrams might not sound like much. But, when you’re measuring doses of herbal medicines (my intended use) that could be a crucial difference. Especially as there’s no way of knowing if it’s really only six off. From all this we can conclude one of three things. One or both of the calibrating weights are wrong, or the damn scale doesn’t work. I’m not in a position to say which. But none of them is acceptable. I returned it to Amazon. And would be leery about ordering anything else from this company.

Very good - when applying work simple arounds
Very, very pleased with this scale. Like mentioned in many thorough reviews, there are little issues BUT I found tips to bypass them (see below). I use the scale to measure micro dosing for psylocybin (125mg +/- 5mg). Trickling/reloading works very well. It's all plastic so manipulate with care. Do not exceed max weight capacity, and always lay flat. If batteries are low, results may become inconsistent. Calibrate before each use for more accurate results. Measure more than once for more critical readings. Do not expect accuracy below +/- 5mg. If you want/need that, then pull out your wallet $$$. Issue 1) The calibration weight (2x10mg) do not fit upon closing the lid. (A design flaw). Yet for consistency, air flow must be accounted. As a result, calibration will always be "off" when closing back the lid. Furthermore, closing/opening the lid does affect the reading sometimes (+/- 6 mg). It shouldn't but it does. Solution: Calibrate the scale using the lid OPEN, then leave the lid in that upward position for the subsequent measuring needs. To eliminate the airflow variations, use a clear container (like a glass bowl or tupperware) to cover the entire scale - - with its open lid. No part of the scale should touch that container. This acts like a dome and now blocks any airflow. You will still be able to read the digital screen as it is bright and easy to read. This "DIY dome" also increases the capacity to weigh "taller" items that would not fit under the original lid in the first place. Nice bonus :) Issue 2) These little scales tend to read more consistently past a certain amount of minimum weight. Here, past 5 mg seems a good starting point. Solution for pill size quantities (in my case 125mg), TARE the included tray as well as a nickle underneath it. Together, they weigh just over 6mg. Once tared, the scale reads "zero" but the inside mechanism is preloaded, which provides even more consistent results. I am very happy with it. Negative reviews are likely related to people who do not handle/calibrate/setup appropriately.

Excellent service from seller
A good product but unfortunately it cannot measure down to the milligramme. I needed to weigh out medication down to 2 milligammes - the scale cannot pick up such small amounts accurately. The seller provided an excellent service and I had no problems returning the item. Thank you to the seller for such prompt and professional service!

Pretty accurate.
These are excellent, easy to use, clear display, maybe not the most durable, quite delicate, but perfect for weighing very small supplement doses.
