just installed the fan. It is beautiful but the motor noise is noticeable. Any suggestions on reducing the noise?

Hello! Many models of fan make an initial noise with their motor for the first 24 to 48 hours as the oil inside the motor gets distributed. If it still makes a noise after that period, please definitely contact the seller you purchased it from for an exchange.

Do you have to use remote? Can it just be hooked up to switch on wall as fan is now?

Hello! The fan is primarily controlled by the receiver module in the fan's canopy, which works on radio waves. In order to get the fan to work with a wall switch, you would need the WCS213 Wall Control by Minka. Otherwise, a normal switch would not turn it off or on.
