So far so good
I ordered this to supply a microwave for the new house. It is easy to use, works well, and looks good. It was also well packaged and arrived pretty quickly. All in all, I am satisfied with its performance. Also, It doesnt feel cheap and the button to open it doesn't stick. I also like that you can just press the buttons for the time that you want instead of having to hit a specific input time button or turn a dial or do some other form of annoying time wasting step. You just press 1-3-0 start for a minute 30. Exactly how it should be.I have been using it more and more, and it heats food quickly and evenly. I have had to adjust my microwave intuition (setting it for how much your food really needs) because it gets hot pretty quickly. Again, satisfied and would recommend! As always, please indicate if this was helpful.Cheers

Was good, but now buzzing noise after barely more than a year!
I have owned this microwave for 1 year and 6 weeks, and during that time this unit has lived up to expectations. However, just today I noticed that the microwave is emitting a buzzing noise while not in use. It's loudest at the rear of the unit toward the rear upper left corner. The buzz disappears when the unit is unplugged. I'm guessing it's the power supply.I contacted Panasonic support, and they informed me that the unit needs to be serviced. They also informed me that my warranty expired 6 weeks ago, so this service will not be covered. I am incredibly disappointed by this situation, as, in my opinion, a high quality appliance should last much longer than a year. If I wanted a microwave that would start having trouble after one year, I could have gotten one that costs half as much. The support person I spoke with was essentially a robot, just repeating the same script over and over, apologizing for any inconvenience, and assuring me that Panasonic makes top quality appliances. There was no reasoning with this person, but in my opinion, a "top quality appliance" would not be making a buzzing sound one year and six weeks after purchase. Further, a top quality appliance company would surely consider that to be an embarrassment and cover the cost of any necessary repairs or just issue a replacement unit. Obviously Panasonic does not stand behind their products.Tomorrow when I have time, I am going to attempt to contact Panasonic support again, and see if I can possibly escalate to someone who can provide a bit more human interaction beyond the standard script. If they are unwilling to provide a satisfactory resolution to this issue, I will accept this as a lesson that Panasonic appliances are not worth the premium price, and will never purchase one again in the future. If anything positive happens, I will update this review. The microwave was good for one year, but is now having issues just past the (extremely short) warranty period. Funny how that works. One star.

Would not buy again or recommend. The unit died after 6 months
Would not buy again or recommend. The unit died after 6 months. Still under warrantee BUT, come to learn the company requires you to take it to an authorized service center for repair. The nearest one is 60 miles away. After being in for repairs for a week, learned they do not have the parts. When it was working, it functioned well - no real complaints expect the beeper when the cycle is over. 5 loud beeps that could wake your neighbors up. Don't know why they design such a loud "end of cycle" signal and "5" beeps ?

It caught fire after 2 1/2 Years.
On 12/02/2014 I purchased this Microwave. On 06/12/2017, it caught fire. I think it should have lasted a little longer than 2 1/2 years don't you? My last Microwave lasted 23 years. Buyer beware.

A compact high power microwave with a large interior.
A compact high power microwave with a large interior. We've been using this microwave for over one year with very good results. The electronics seems to work perfectly and reliably, but are some ergonomic issues. First, the access door opens barely more than 90 degrees, so when inserting large items with two hands, the door latch is always biting you in the left elbow. For smaller items, access to the cooking chamber is acceptable as long as you're right handed. If you're left handed, you might not want to consider this product at all. This oven also has a rotating glass platter which is supported by a ring with three rollers. Unfortunately, the diameter of the roller ring is considerably smaller than the diameter of the platter and the platter is only supported by three rollers, so when inserting large bulky items like a Corning Ware dish, it is easy to dislodge the platter from it's drive pin and the roller ring if one tries to slide the dish into the microwave instead of holding the dish above the platter until it is fully inserted and centered over the platter. For right handed people and smaller items, the product works perfectly. The product is high power (1200W) and so cooks a small Corning dish of vegetables 4 minutes and a large Corning dish of vegetables in 8 minutes. Heats a cup of coffee in 50 seconds. Has, two different programs for defrosting that work well. The keep warm feature works well. Clock & timer both work well. Inverter technology allows the oven to operate at reduced power levels without cycling on and off so much quieter than the older Clack / Clunk relay duty cycle modulation types. Could be the perfect microwave if Panasonic would fix the door hinge and platter support!

Shop around before you buy this one.
After 2 years and 3 months this stopped working. I have owned a few microwaves over the years and in my opinion this is way to short of a time for a life cycle to end. I get a code H-97, and after research on the internet this means the Magnetron tube needs replacement. Although the part is still under warrantee, the labor is not. I would have to find a repair facility to take it to. The unit was very light and would move around the counter top when I opened and closed the door. The clock was always a pain to set. I just replaced this unit with a SHARP R-309Y Black which is comparable in size and 1000 watt which does just as good a job as this one at a better price. I recommend you shop around before you buy this one.
