Is this a soft type or hard one?

This sugarcane variety has a soft, fibrous center, it is good for chewing.

Arrived yesterday, I put them in soil , do I fully submerge by them or leave them sticking out ?

It came yesterday, I put it in a pots outside in full sun, but now it has started to turn brown. Am I doing anything wrong?

None of my first shipment grew so I reached out to the seller and he sent me a second set and they did not grow either. From my experience and watching my dad planting sugar cane he would use the top portion of the cane referral to as ‘cane top’ for playing. The sugary part of a cane does not grow. Too bad both shipment that I received was not the right part of the cane for planting.
