When Slash was given the honor of having built a Gibson Les Paul Signature model, we used the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers he has used for decades. The new guitars sound noticeably different from the original. So we took on the challenge of making him a new pickup that would sound all his new signature guitars, just like the original AFD Les Paul. The result is the Slash Signature Model Humbucker. We used a different mag wire and winding specification, which, in combination with the Alnico 2 bar magnet, was exactly what was needed to push a stick Les Paul toward the familiar sustain, crunch and midrange that was so characteristic of the tone of Slash's original Derrig Les Paul copy. The Slash Humbucker Set is handmade in Santa Barbara in the same way we built its originals. In the 80s.
