The Joker (Joker (2008)) eBook : Azzarello, Brian, Bermejo, Lee, Bermejo, Lee: desertcart.co.uk: Kindle Store Review: enjoyable standalone story - A great standalone story told from the viewpoint of a hired goon working for the jokers crew., Wasn't sure if id like the book (not a massive batman fan, also didnt want to get tied into a never ending story with loads of crossover issues to read) But i really loved this story & the artwork is some of the best ive seen in a modern graphic novel also a great bonus for me it wasn't a batman heavy book either. So in conclusion a great story with a great artwork, its a book that has now got me looking out for more by both author & illustrator so on the whole a pretty much perfect graphic novel to me 5/5 & i hope you give it a try & feel the same! Review: Interesting dark graphic novel - A Batman with only a brief cameo from the Caped Crusader. This 2008 graphic novel fits well in to the trend of The Dark Knight portraying a very dark disturbed Joker. Told from the perpective of a naive henchmen and featuring appearances from other favourites including a very human-like Killer Croc it is an enjoyable read and the artwork is very good. It is short but a nice piece.

Must read.
First off the cover art really set the tone for the book, its dark and gritty. the story showcases the joker the relationship he has with his fellow criminals and his vision of gotham. you have a little glance into the mind of a madman, you learn to see joker as a person who has feelings (if a little twisted) The book mainly focuses on Johnny jokers driver, and the pull and push relationship between them, the odd mix of fear and respect Johnny has and a need to be like the joker (for a while) How far can Johnny go to be accepted by joker? or will he always be a nobody towing the line? A must read. And more importantly how far can joker go before he snaps ?

Is there actually a story here?
First off, this is a quality production from DC and is worth getting for the art alone, a virtuoso performance from Lee Bermejo. But come on...Brian Azzarello, is there a story here? Maybe I should say 'Spoiler alert' here although I don't think there's anything to spoil. The Joker is let out of Arkham. That's right, just allowed to walk out. No reason given. Are we supposed to figure it out? We've got cameos of Harlequin, the Riddler and the Penguin, all visually interesting. Two Face seems to be in charge of the Gotham rackets. The Joker gets Killer Croc on his side and brutally takes out some of the minor bosses. There's a climactic confrontation with Two Face which didn't make any sense to me. (And what was in the suitcase that the Riddler gave to the Joker?) The Batman shows up in the end after the Joker has been allowed to run rampant and doesn't seem to be able to take the Joker out on a one-on-on fist fight. The story is a mess or maybe I just missed it. There isn't much left of Batman's rogues' gallery - they just went along with the Joker - nor of the Batman himself and the Joker is now a pill-popping murderous sadist. That's about it.

Enjoyed it
First graphic novel I've read in a while. Not a great deal to the story, but it was entertaining. Excellent illustrations. 4/5

Masterpiece
This novel delves deep into the criminal mind of The Joker. Not only does it introduce a narration from a unknown character called Johnny Frost but it gives you a dark and scarce perspective of The Jokers sadistic nature through the eyes of the character . This makes of a interesting and intriguing read that you just won't want to put down. Although it is a short novel it will make you want to read it again and again to appreciate how well Brian Azzarello has put together a interesting story. I am happy I have added this to my collection and is worth five stars.

All part of the plan?
This graphic novel is nothing short of amazing. I've read it, and re-read it. To me, it's up there with the Killing Joke as one of the best Batman graphic novels there is. Seeing the Joker through the eyes of someone who is essentially his best friend, this is a must for fans of the Clown Prince of Crime, and those who enjoyed Heath Ledger's potrayal of him in the Dark Knight.

A dark, twisted, utterly terrifying story. One of the best DC stories I’ve ever read! I would highly recommend this.

Una novela gráfica con acción tan vívida que pareciera que uno está viendo una película cuyo desenlace es tan fugaz que uno quiere seguir leyendo más.,simplemente genial estar en los ojos de Johnny Frost atestiguando de primera mano lo que joker es.
