Excellent and absolutely necessary to save days reprogramming this VHF/UHF transceiver
Excellent and absolutely necessary to save days when uploading, making many (big and small) changes, saving the final result, and reprogramming this BaoFeng VHF/UHF transceiver.Parable: as essential as comfortable, well-designed field boots when doing WeatherSpotter duty.

Works Perfectly on my Baofeng UV-82
I had tried a few other mic's for my UV-82 and was disappointed with the sound quality and lack of ability to transmit quickly on both VFO's. This mic. works very well and has the on/off/on centered rocker switch to allow quick ptt for either PTO A or B. Excellent product and I would recommend to anyone. I also love the headphone jack on the bottom of the mic. Makes it very convenient for using earbuds.I can't think of a single area for improvement with this speaker/mic.

Nice product, but did not work with my radio
This is a nicely made product, a little small for my hand & probably works great on the proper radio it was made for! I plugged it into my new Uniden PRO538HH handheld 40 channel CB and it immediately automatically keyed Up and began a transmission without touching the push to talk button. I unplugged it & it stopped transmitting. So, I immediately knew that the plugs on the product were not correct for the operation of my new CB. If you are looking for an extension mic/speaker for the CB shown above, do not buy this one. Look in my reviews for the actual correct item. This is going back for a refund asap. I gave it 3 stars for it looking like it was made well, just not made for my radio.

Handy, allows you to selectively transmit on 2 different frequencies
This is super handy if you have a single UV-5R type radio & need to work on 2 different frequencies at the same time. The 2 position PTT rocker allows you to select which of the two working frequencies you want to transmit on.

Caution when buying
I bought a baofeng handset in hopes of not having the continuous issues with after market ones not working correctly. Unfortunately this one does not work correct either. The ptt button doesn't recognize you are using it unless you get it at just the right angle. The sound that comes out it not nearly ass good as it comes from the radio. The size and weight of the handset is nice, and perfect for what I was doing.

Works perfectly with Linux, CHIRP, and Baofeng UV-5R
Cable appears well-made and fit the Baofeng UV-5R radio jacks nicely. Cable worked perfectly with this setup:LinuxMint 18 host OS, 4.4.0 Linux kernel-> VirtualBox 5.1.38 virtual machine software--> Skywave Linux 3.1.1 guest OS---> CHIRP programming software, version daily-20180519 (this came pre-installed in Skywave Linux)---> Baofeng UV-5R radio, with BFB298 firmwareLinux OS identified cable as being built with the Prolific chip. No driver installation/manipulation was required under Linux. I told CHIRP to access the radio via port /dev/ttyUSB0I do not know if this cable works under Windows or MacOS, as those configurations were not attempted. If the cable doesn't work under Windows or MacOS, then in theory you could install virtual machine software on these host OS'es and then run Skywave Linux (free) as the guest OS to obtain the same successful results that I did. You will need to configure the virtual machine to pass the USB connection through to the guest OS.
