SWIFT 40V Cordless Lightweight 9000 RPM Grass Trimmer

Easy to use, easy to charge and lightweight to hold unlike some other strimmers . Used it on short and knee high grass. Battery obviously lasts longer when cutting less overgrown areas but it’s surprisingly effective at what it can tackle. Probably not appropriate for a professional gardener but perfect for my needs at home keeping meadow grass short in 2 acre garden. I’ve bought 2 and extra batteries so I can continue with job for longer when 1st battery runs down.

I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this product due to the comments about fiddly construction of the handle as I have no one to help me. I needn’t have worried. It’s supplied with a small spanner and ratchet to help you. It was easy to attach and I had it ready to use in just over five minutes, so I really don’t understand why people have had issues with it. Anyway, I’m a woman in my 60’s and just over 5ft tall and I had no issues with the weight of this either. I would advise wearing gloves and goggles if cutting tall weeds as was the case for me. I have a small field that was very overgrown, some of the weeds were over 4ft tall and consisted of grass and thick nettles. However I followed the instructions that said you should cut them down bit by bit which worked really well, cutting off the tops first and then moving down the weeds until there was just a stubble at the bottom. Because the weeds were tough, the battery lasted just over 40 minutes which was enough for me as I needed a rest! Changing the blades is a breeze and the holder for spare blades on the handle is a nice touch. For me in Ireland Amazon's Prime wasn’t a delivery option on this item and £28 delivery charge was steep so I took advantage of this by combining purchases of an extra battery and spare blades and I’m glad that I did. Having the spare battery meant that I didn’t have to wait until the original was recharged. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this strimmer and I think Swift have done a great job. It’s powerful and effective and as you can see by the before and after photos it can take on tough weeds with relative ease. I still have to finish the rest of the field by the way, waiting for a dry day! Based on this strimmers performance I’m hoping to save enough to buy their hedge trimmer next!

Worked for 15 minutes and then died. Battery is fully charged, no power to head. Swift support were good, a couple of emails back and forth and a replacement was sent. Works well to be fair - I find the blades better than the usual plastic wires and the head seems less prone to clogging with grass than the "bump on the ground to extend the wire" type. So 4* review to reflect the performance vs price of the machine, plus decent support, with a star knocked off as a question mark over longevity...

Excellent. I needed a smaller portable trimmer for my smallholding and large garden. I took a chance and purchased a swift trimmer. My original lasted for years, and went above and beyond what a garden trimmer should do. Just bought another, same model and look forward to many years of use.

I hadn’t heard of this brand but needed a cordless strimmer and didn’t much like the price and reviews on a lot of them. This one is fab and totally kicks the bottom of my other half’s Bosch one. It’s very easy to assemble with the exception of the handle which seems to be unnecessarily fiddly,so don’t bother with the supplied tools, just get some pliers and an adjustable spanner and it’ll be done in minutes. Apart from that it really is simple to use and I love that the replacement blades are carried ‘on board’. It feels like there’s been some good effort in the design as it just fits in your hand and is really intuitive to use. The battery clicks in (was ready to straight from the box) and I was trimming 20 minutes after it arrived. I’ve used it twice now and the battery is still going strong. It’s very powerful, in fact you need to be a bit careful or it will scalp the lawn. It’s also useful as a path clearer/leaf blower after you’ve strimmed, you can waft it around about a foot above the path and voila it’s even tidied up after itself. Brilliant strimmer, don’t be put off by it being a brand you’ve not heard of.

Works well, cuts well. Putting it together is fun as the instruction book diagrams do NOT tally to the equipment supplied. The "rapid battery charger" supplied is rubbish and after hours of charging had little effect on the battery. I invested in the superior charger, which works well but increases the price significantly. There are elements to this product which have a "cheap and nasty import" feel.

Don’t buy this unless you have 4 hands and a lot of patience! It is impossible to fit the handlebar - the instructions in the manual (and online) show the old and far superior handlebar. The new one has two bolts which attach to a loose metal plate. It is hard to fit into position, then you attach one spanner to stop the nut turning, but as soon as you let go with one hand to pick up the second spanner to tighten it the whole things swivels on the handle.... After lots of cussing and multiple attempts I tried to hold it with pliers - same result. The only thing that works is a socket set - so why have Swift provided 2 spanners? If you need to move the handlebar position you have to get the socket set out again.... It used to be fitted with a locking lever but obviously some ‘genius’ came up with this design as a cost cutting exercise. I have suggested they revisit the design as it is poor. My advice? Don’t bother buying this until they put the old design back. It isn’t worth the hassle when there are so many others as good and a similar price!

I bought this as a replacement for a petrol strimmer which was constantly giving problems. Since my husband died almost 3 years ago I’ve struggled to operate the darn thing and needed something simple to start and use. The swift strimmer is excellent. It is lightweight and quiet. It one of the plastic blades come off then you just pop it on again. No messing with the plastic cord that I could never figure out with the petrol one. I have 1 3/4 acres and it cuts around all of the edges of several bits of lawn without running out of charge. I don’t think it would be able to tackle very long grass or brambles etc but that’s not what I needed it for and I doubt any strimmer of this type would be able to do that anyway. Overall I’m very pleased with it. You just put the battery in and you’re finished in no time. Other reviewers commented on difficulty putting the handle together but my son had it done in 5 minutes.

My first electric grass trimmer, works great! First time use the the blade vs string, really like the design: easy to change the blades and work well on the thick grass. It come with 4 extra blades and I can easily find replacement blades on amazon and they are not expansive. I also like it’s light weight, and it is well balanced when I using it. Few more things that I like: the extra blades can be easily stored in the grip of the trimmer smart design! And the metal wire blade protector is very useful to protect the blades! Nice trimmer recommend it!

Apesar de ainda só ter testado por uma vez, devo dozer que fiquei agradavelmente surpreendido. A roçadora é feita de bins materiais (metal e plástico resistente), a bateria é durável e dá perfeitamente para uso de um terreno de tamanho médio. As lâminas de plástico são relativamente resistentes, no entanto, se apanharem pedras e outros materiais mais resistentes, podem danificar facilmente. Fiquei também muito satisfeito com o facto de não fazer muito ruído e de não ser muito pesado. Só lamento duas coisas: o facto de não haver opção de lâminas de metal e de não ter uma pega no cabo por forma a tornar mais confortável durante o uso. No geral, estou extremamente satisfeito👌
