Possibly the best kitchen knives available for the money!
Great knives! I purchased a set of these for my wife 2 years ago and they are awesome! They hold a great edge and the weight is superb! Not only do they perform, the look amazing! Every single time someone comes into our kitchen they just have to stop and admire these beauties! Since my first purchase I've purchased their steak knives, pairing knives, utility knives, a complete second set for our other house ands complete second set for my parents. I would say that these are at least on par or better than my Wustof and Henkels knives. Very nice!

Great Knife. Teak is gorgeous
I bought the "Mofotuko" 7" chef knife as an add-on to the teak bonded full set. This knife is GREAT. Just the right size, it's big, heavy and solid. This may be a turn off for some, but I'm a big guy and this feels good in my hands. The teak is beautiful and looks good on display on my counter. If you've never had real wood handled knives you need to make sure you read how to care for the handle scales. NEVER leave the knife in the sink and let it absorb water. You should also use a food grade mineral oil on the scales every few months to help the wood stay in shape. The first time you do this it may take 2 coats. Wipe a drop or two down each scale and then let it sit for about 20 minutes to soak in. After that wipe the excess off. This will keep it from absorbing water and stains quickly.

my new go to cutlery
i have already reviewed other pieces from this company- so far, all have been impressive and well-made. this forged(not stamped) knife holds a sharp edge and cuts easily. i like that it is somewhat lighter than my german counterparts that always feel like i'm wielding an axe or something heavy. don't get me wrong, my wusthof and henckels are beautiful knives, it just seems after a long prep in the kitchen me arm and hand could use a rest. with this (and the other schmidt bros. cutlery) i get the same ease of cutting, better control, and with less effort. this is a nice knife and for the price hard to beat in todays crowded market. try this or a chefs knife and see if you don't agree how much of a bargain these are.

Great Knives, TERRIBLE Block
I got these as a Christmas Gift- and have to say I love the knives. They are beautiful and functional, and I like the balance and weight better than I ever liked my Henckles or Wusthof knives. Where these break down for me is the block. I loved the idea of the narrow, long line of block, but the one that comes with the set is beautiful but not functional. The magnets in the block aren't strong enough to hold the knives up and down, so they slide against the acrylic piece. The Acrylic piece isn't stiff or strong enough not to bow out, so they slide, tip, tilt, and ultimately end up suspended by the edges of their handles- not ideal. I still think the set is a good value- cheaper than buying all of the knives individually, but know that you'll want to get something else as a block, as this one is useless.

Great knives
I originally purchased one of these knives at Marshals. I loved the way it felt in my hand and the look. I had been looking for a great set to purchase.when I found the Schmidt teak knife at Marshals I decided there and then I would purchase each knife I wanted instead of in a set. The Marshals knife did have a bit of a rough handle it is wood. So I purchased butcher block conditioner. I wanted to take care of my knives and also purchased a bamboo cutting board. So to smooth down any Handel that arrives rough take a nail buffer and smooth it down then condition the handle with the food grade mineral oil. It worked like a charm. I live in a dry climate so having this conditioner is a must. Also I will be hand washing beach knife and drying immediately.

Not made in the USA...
I received this knife today. No where in the description does it say the knife is made in China. I feel like I was led to believe it was made in the USA. For the money the knife has a good weight to it , but there is absolutely no comparison to my 30 plus year old Wusthof and Henckels knives. The balance is not the same, the metal on the handle is not flush with the wood. There are some sloppy errors on the knives. They feel like they need to be sharpened, I tried to cut a tomato and really needed to exert pressure. I wanted to love them, for the price. I read about them in Food and Wine Magazine and was very excited about a low cost American made, excellent quality knife. I guess nothing is made here any longer, and nothing is perfect. I will probably return them.

Great, affordable, SHARP knife
Schmidt Brothers Cutlery does not disappoint. This Mofotoku knife has a comfortable feel and I find that it is my go-to choice for a variety of chopping and slicing needs. This knife maintains a sharp edge much better than many other more expensive knives that I have purchased. With that said, be careful and keep your fingers out of the way, it is SHARP! Because of the wooden handle and to maintain the integrity of the knife, I do not put it in the dishwasher.

Nicely designed knife but poorly ground
This knife gets one star for good design and very attractive price. However, my advice is to buy something else. I don't know if my knife was part of a bad batch or if the knives are all improperly ground. On my knife the bolster was too long (vertically), so the heel of the knife could not touch the cutting surface--the bolster hit the surface first. I emailed the company and got a response from someone who either did not fully read my message, or has a problem with english comprehension. She gave me a canned answer about how they design their knives so that the bolster extends to the heel, etc. This, after I clearly stated that the bolster extended BELOW the heel. I was going to return it, and decided instead to regrind it myself. So, after grinding off some of the bolster I discovered that the heel (rear) of the blade still would not rest flat on the surface. This was due to poor shaping of the blade--too much belly or middle of the blade. In summary, if the heel of the blade does not touch the surface, you can only use the front and middle of the blade. I have now totally reground and resharpened the knife. I doubt that many others would want to undertake that action.

Excelente calidad
Lo compre en una oferta a menos de 300 pesos, pero parece un cuchillo profesional. Excelente compra.

As picture.
Works as you would expect. Excellent look, very happy. Donโt put the knife in the dishwasher because the wood wonโt look the same with time.
