“... You will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden.” Bestselling author Anthony DeStefano begins his creative telling of the beloved Bible story of Christ’s triumphant entry by introducing the young donkey who has yet to realize his important mission. The lowly creature believes he can do nothing noble, but that’s before he meets the Master... Then Jesus said to the donkey, “It’s time that you knew About the great thing That you’re destined to do...” He hears the sad donkey cry, “Just leave me alone and cast me aside. I’m just a poor donkey that no one can ride.” Richard Cowdrey’s colorful illustrations pair beautifully with Anthony’s charming rhymes. Together, they bring this timeless story of the donkey who carries Jesus into Jerusalem to a joyful finish. While especially appropriate as an Easter gift, this year-round story is for all time and for young and old alike. Putting Flesh on Palm Sunday for Children
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week with the recounting of the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. He came riding on an ass, or as this story says, a donkey. Most of us know that after standing for the reading of the Passion that no one is really ready to listen to a homily. It's more appropriate to say a few words in the back of the Church after the first Gospel Reading. Looking back over our childhood, I think that we can recall how long we had to stand and how little we either comprehended or paid attention. Last year our Deacons read this book to our children after the Passion. At each Mass, they all came up and sat around the Deacon. It was received well because it was directed specifically to these young people (although all the parents thoroughly cherished it). It brought the message of the day's celebration to them at their level. It changed their focus from the "standing" to something they appreciated. The author also supplied another inspirational message that the children could take home with them. No one is too weak, or can be considered so useless that God cannot use them and work through them. Each of us is a part of God's design. We all have been created for a purpose. That purpose was determined by God. If we trust God; if we allow him to work with us, he will help us with his own power, wisdom and strength to achieve this. We will find our fulfillment in this way. This challenges us to see how we can build on this in the future. Hoping also that Anthony DeStefano will continue adding to this inspirational line of children's books he has to his credit. FYI: We have also done this with our Deacons two years in a row at our Christmas Children's Masses using another of DeStefano's beautiful books, Little Star .

poesia
Poesia dolcissima e commovente, spiega quanta forza può dare la Fede. Quanto più siamo deboli, tanto più diventiamo forti se solo confidiamo in Lui.

This is a lovely Easter story for little children
Actually, I think this story is great for all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story with my niece and I found it really touching and heartwarming and extremely emotive… Our weakest points are God's greatest strengths and this wonderful story highlights just how much God loves and cares for those that seem to be the weakest in society and the world at large. This book sends out a very powerful, clear and comforting message to anybody who reads this tale & I'm very glad I got to read it.

A touching tale steeped in Christian culture
We read this in the dentist office a few years ago with our youngest, and got one then. We just bought another copy for our Grandson's 2nd birthday. Love DeStephano's stuff. Little guy is getting The Sheep That No One Could Find for Christmas. Absolutely love the art, language, and themes.
