Dometic SeaStar Quick Connect Rotary Steering Cable, SSC62XX

My old cable froze up and while I broke it loose I no longer trusted it. Anyway, pulled my old cable and got the codes on it which was a 1/2 size and the charts said to go up to next foot. However, I went ahead and measured my old cable and it was only 2" over so I ordered the next size down given they only come in foot increments and the fact my old cable fit tight. I would suggest measuring your old cable and then order accordingly based on how much extra room there is, instead of just using the code. Install was pretty easy since I tied a small rope on the old cable when I pulled it out. So just put the rope on the new cable and went right in. The cable was well constructed and already lubed so hoping it will see a long life. Happy Boating!

This product was a perfect fit using the part # on the previous cable. Apparently SeaStar acquired or replaced the OEM Terex, but this seems to be a quality product. For anyone attempting to install this product, be aware this is not an easy job unless you have plenty of clearance to remove the old cable and install the new one. This difficulty is no reflection on the part itself.

So, first I ordered SeaStar SSX176xx XTREME NFB Single-Cable Steering Kit. But the measurements they told me to use SUCK and it was at least 2 ft too long. So, I ordered this cable, and it won't go into the helm and allow the pin to go in to hold it securely. I'm getting tired of spending hundreds of dollars at a time because either the directions or the cable or the helm don't seem to want to work together.

i received this cable fast .and watched a couple of youtube videos and was hooked up and installed in an hour and a half all for around $100 bucks shop wanted around $10 bucks a foot and 400 to install big savings and great product

The first one that I ordered per the Sea star measuring formula was too long. No fault of the seller. I came up with two foot longer as what I thought at the beginning. Got it and it fits perfectly! A happy boater!
