Very Legit
Block is exactly as advertised. Wood came coated in what I assume is it's own wax. The color is very dark with coffee like clouds throughout.

Very nice ebony. Takes a great finish - going full-on black.
My son plays an electric bass. He asked me to make him a bass ramp. It needed to slot into the space between two black pickups. He wished to rest his finger or thumb there while he strums strings. I make him a maple prototype. He called in a 5mm increase in the width. So I used this ebony, resawn, to make a couple of really nice ramps. French Polish got them black, black. And with a nice sheen. So thank you seller.

Definitely hard
Broke a drill bit, and started smoking when drilling. So I learned you need to start small on drilling holes, and bandsaw and slow speed cuts best. I am very satisfied with the price and experience I gained from working with the gaboon ebony.

Shipped fast, no defects or problems
I ordered this because paying around $20 for a 2x2x6 block of Gaboon Ebony is a steal. Mine covered in the usual paraffin wax, as it is suppose to be, and have had no issues with the use (I have not used a lot of it except for a wedge block on a hand plane I am making). Great product!

Not jet black
More like a dark brownish black. It looks much darker in the pictures due to the wax coating.
