Great little flip phone.
This is a great flip phone. It can even connect to wifi. But don't expect it to be a smart phone. There's no qwerty keyboard, so texting is inconvenient. It doesn't have a touch screen. You have to click through a couple different menus to get to your phone book (contacts list). But if what you want is to be able to pick it up and dial, or answer it when it rings just by opening it, this is the perfect phone for you. If you have a child that you want to communicate with but not have them constantly plugged in to the Internet, this is perfect for them too. They can even text, if they have the patience to do it on a keypad. Receiving text is no problem at all. There are a few useful tools--camera, alarm, calendar, radio, etc. We use it as our "home phone", as adding an extra line to our cell service (Ting) that uses few minutes and texts and no data is far cheaper than paying for a land line. Turning it on is counter intuitive though--you have to push and hold the red hang up button. I had to laugh at some of the reviews insisting that the phone was broken and couldn't even be turned on right out of the box--it's likely that they just couldn't figure out how and didn't bother to Google it. My one complaint is that the exterior screen (so you can see who's calling before you open it and answer) is too light and hard to read. Adjusting the brightness settings didn't do much. I don't know if that's just a problem with mine or if it's common to all of them. The inside screen that gets used most of the time is just fine.

Seemed ok at first… Overall sucks hard
Bought for my senior dad as he struggles to use a smartphone. Seemed good at first, but after a week started to degrade. First he was dropping multiple calls a day, then as the weeks progressed the quality of his mic became terrible. Half the time talking to him it sounded like he was 20ft away and trying to talk over speaker phone. Could not hear him at all. I keep telling him to talk closer to the mic. The mic seemed to finally pick up his speech if he stuck his phone inside his mouth. He could hear me fine though, so at least there’s that. Also he had trouble charging the phone and struggled to get it to a decent charge even after leaving it plugged in overnight. Outside return window by a week so no luck there. Disappointed.

YES, it's unlocked and works on T-Mobile
I have used the T-Mobile 'Pay As You Go' service on a basic ('dumb' ) phone for many, many years. However, T-Mobile's decision to phase out 2G service has meant that the areas I could get a signal have been shrinking slowly for a long time, and call quality has fallen to an unworkable level for at least the last 6 months. It has become almost impossible to complete a call. Time for a new phone. Unless you relent and get a 'smart' phone, choices are severely limited. I saw no point in getting a 3G phone, as they will soon be phased out too. That basically left this model as the only T-Mobile compatible ( 4G LTE ) option I could find. What do you get from supplier eTrade ? Yes, it's an ATT branded phone, in an opened box. However, it does appear to be brand new, and complete with all the original documents and parts ( battery and charger only ). I presume it was opened merely to unlock it. What do you need ? You need the mid sized SIM card to connect the phone to your service. Does it work with T-Mobile ? Yes, I bought a new SIM at a T-Mobile store, which you can break off it any of the 3 sizes ( big, medium, micro ) to fit any SIM phone. It connected to the service with no issues. Can you transfer phone data ? To transfer all my contacts, the store had a device which required USB connections to both the new and old phones. These I had to buy ( approx. $4 each ). The device connected to the phones, but only my old phone ( which was supplied by T-Mobile ) would transfer any data. The device could not access the new phone. Maybe this is because of the original ATT programming ? All I know is that the contacts would NOT swap from the old phone to the new one. Result ? I have a working phone with crystal clear reception almost anywhere, but I'll have to re-enter all my contact info. Note T-Mobile no longer offer their own 'Pay As You Go' service. They have franchised it to a third party, who charge a $3 per month connection charge. Calls are charged at 10 cents per minute.

Works well out of the box!
I don't know why there are so many complaints about this phone. Once you understand that it only works with GSM carriers (ATT and T-Mobile and their variants), there's really nothing to it. I was looking for a stupid phone (as opposed to a smart phone) to use with my Wal-Mart prepaid service, a T-Mobile variant. I opened the package, put my Wal-Mart SIM card in, put the battery in and turned on the phone. It works in every way. For $33 refurbished, it's a great deal! UPDATE - IMPORTANT!!! While I've been very happy with this phone since I bought it, using it on WalMart's Family Mobile prepaid service, I've now run into problems. I used Family Mobile because it uses the T-Mobile network, I needed that for several reasons I won't go into here. As of January 2021, T-Mobile is requiring that any phone used on their network be not only 4G LTE compatible but VoLTE compatible too. This phone is not. I only found out by trying to top up my phone and not being able. WalMart didn't notify me and won't refund what I spent on the top-up. So, as of Jan 2021, you need to look for a different phone just like I'm doing. In summary, this is an unlocked GSM phone that will only work with a SIM card from a GSM carrier. To all those that complain and scream bloody murder and fraud, I can only say you must not know what you're doing.

Basic 4g LTE flip phone
Pros 1. It's a flip phone easy to open up to answer and hang up with real keypad to dial number. 2. Very light weight and long battery life. 3. It's a 4g LTE network, the true is ATT shut down 2g, and T mobile will also shut down the 2g network soon, so most of the old GSM phone no longer work soon. It must have a phone that's have 3g or 4g to use. 4. It has a basic 2mp camera to take some pictures for fun. 5. It has a media player and you can add a micro sd card to play the music with that phone, also it has a FM raido. Cons 1. The number keypad is not good to dial, you have to press it hard sometimes. 2. Because there are more and more scam or commercial phone calls, it's important to have the features to block the numbers you don't recognize. However that phone doesn't have that feature. 3. That phone is simple to young people, but a bit trouble to the older people, especially sometimes the keypad doesn't work very well. 4. Although it has Wifi and 4g, it's useless. There's a built in browser but it's hardly to type and use the internet, the cursor is hardly to move. If you have data plan, you will only use small amount of data on this phone, but you can not share the data out by tethering or hotspot. I bought it for my senior family member to use, it's easy to just open up and close the phone for basic features, but the menu and features not so easy to use by the older people. Eventually have to return it.

It's a Clamshell-Very Nice Design. For Travel and Emergency Phone.
Take your time and read the directions and warnings with the SIMM card and the phone. The think I liked immediately about the phone was the opening and closing action and the overall quality' I'm using it with a Speedtalk $5 /month SIMM and the set up and registration worked without a problem. Opening the phone cover is the most difficult part, but it works if you look at the small drawing in the instruction sheet. The thing I mainly needed was a Nokia phone replacement, and this phone is ideal for travel and emergency use. It fixes the things I didn't like about the Nokia phone and T-Mobile pay as you go plan. It has a much larger battery, better range with 3G 4G, and the keyboard and screen are protected when closed. Also the Speedtalk plan allows for running over the monthly limits and not being left stranded with a non working out of minutes phone. The keyboard and display are larger and make the phone a pleasure to use. Note: Speedtalk available at Amazon uses the T-Mobile network, but it is not owned by T-Mobile. Update: It is s-l-o-w to power up if you keep it normally off like me (use for emergencies). If you just use it for making phone calls/answering phone calls and use no other features, it's a good phone.

GSM Unlocked and works with T-Mobile SIM Card from my Samsung Note 4
I ordered the Alcatel QUICKFLIP 4044C 4G LTE HD Voice Flip Phone - GSM Unlocked from Amazon and sold by Energy Electronics on Monday, June 1, 2020 and I received the phone on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Talk about Blazing SUPER-SUPER Fast Secure Shipping, it does not get any better than that; thank you! The phone was as advertised. The box, phone and all accessories were factory sealed and packaged with NO visible damage anywhere. The box looked like it just came off the factory conveyor line. I am a T-Mobile subscriber and have been for many years now. I am happy with T-Mobile. I purchased the Alcatel QUICKFLIP 4044C because my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 finally crapped out after being flashed with unauthorized software while playing a registered game I downloaded from the Google App Play Store. Other than playing a game here or there, I really did not use all of the benefits a smart-phone offers. I decided to go old-school and just wanted a flip phone. Setup and installation was a breeze. I removed the T-Mobile SIM Card from my Note 4 and installed same in the Alcatel QUICKFLIP 4044C along with 16GB MicroSD Card. I plugged in the included charger and after about 3-hours the phone was charged, although the phone may have been charged sooner, don’t know as I did not check. I turned on the phone, followed some simple instructions and my T-Mobile SIM Card from my Note-4 was recognized including my telephone number..PERFECT… This phone is unlocked as advertised and getting it up and running could not have been any easier; 5 plus stars all the way… I haven’t tried any of the included apps, Wi-Fi or camera yet and may not. I just wanted a simple phone that is clear and the phone is that, very impressed…

I hate this phone.
The volume is extremely low. I have excellent hearing, but if you're in a crowded place, forget it. You'll not get the volume high enough. (But I guess if you need it that loud, maybe you should do something different anyway. Save your hearing). The volume for the alarm is too low as well. So if you want to use your phone as a morning wake-up alarm, think again. You have to type in two letters for a contact search. Other phones allowed me to just type the first letter, and all names beginning with that letter pop up. Not this one; you must type in two letters. The phone is extremely slow. If you're trying to send a text, you might need to wait 30 seconds for the phone to load or whatever it is doing, to allow you to begin typing. When you answer an incoming call, it's slow. Most phones, as soon as you flip you can talk. This one, better wait about 2 seconds after the flip, for it to get itself ready. There is no apostrophe mark on the main punctuation menu. Seriously?! Apostrophes are important. Though you can do a Google search online, there are no instructions included, nor even a basic message of an online link to find the instructions. It's nearly impossible getting the thing on vibrate. You go up and down, up and down the volume bar. It goes from 15 all the way down to mute. But usually skips vibrate. You have to keep going up and down, from 1 to mute and back until it recognizes vibrate. A horrible phone.
