Review: You get out what you put in. - This one is great. I'm still working on the course. It takes a lot of work, but the author makes it fun. I'm using it from a computer, so it's very easy to pause, go back to another track, or pick out certain old tracks for warm up. Code is not now required for any radio license anymore, I just always wanted to learn. Good luck, this course is good.

Nicely done
I just whipped through these CDs in two weeks, and now I'm practicing getting my code 'up to speed' through daily drills on the computer. These CDs did a great job of painlessly teaching morse code, though. He uses both Farnsworth and Koch methods together, which is extra-effective. In Farnsworth's method, the characters themselves are played at reasonably quick (15wpm) speed so that you learn to identify each letter as an atomic unit of rhythm, but the space *between* the characters is very long (like 2 seconds) so you have time to recall the rhythm from your memory. And in line with Koch's method, he only teaches a letter or two at a time, and then has you practice copying words that only use the letters you know. You don't learn new letters until you've mastered the prior set. The CDs are, of couse, a touch dated: Gordo keeps talking about prepping for the "element 1 code test", but this test requirement was dropped in 2007. :-) Still, I recommend this as a great way to learn to copy code in a quick and painless way. One last note: these CDs teach you only to *copy*, not to *send* code. I've discovered that sending requires almost as much practice as copying! Get yourself a straight key, set of paddles, whatever... and practice forming characters accurately! My daily routine is to spend 15 minutes copying practice transmissions to paper, and then *sending* the same text back through my practice oscillator.

Tried and true method
It's not the most modern sounding audio but it's a tried and true method. I can imagine my dad learning Morse Code this way back in the 40's and I hope this course helps me become as good as he was!

More than book knowledge needed
I am glad that I ordered these two sets of CW CDs from Gordon West. I will order the others in his CW CD series once I have mastered these two skill levels. I have two CW books but wanted the additional CW CD reference materials to go portable wherever I have access to a CD player. Thank you once again for a wonderful product.

Can't Copy to Ipod to listen too Without a Cd Player
I tried to Rip this to my Ipod So I could Listen at any time.. Because Not many of Us Carry around a Cd player these days.. and it would be Easier to use Our Phones or Ipods to Listen too and learn, But it has Some copy right thing that won't Let it, They Should at least Offer it in a Mp3 Format for Downloading to Ipod or something Similar.. Having to use a Cd player is Crazy and Even HArder then Using a et of headphones while Walking around or whenver we get this Chance.. They need to Fix this... I guess I won't be buying the next Set of CD's to further my Elarning.. Will need to find another way...

Good pace and introduces letters in a strategic way
This is a friendly course for learning the code. The most common letters are introduced first and then letters that could be confused with other letters are introduced near each other so you get a chance to cement the differences. You might be surprised at your progress if you just put in a little effort with this program.

Best Intro to Morse I've Found
Bought this at the same time as the "Your Introduction to Morse Code" cd's. I thought I'd work through them simultaneously but am instead concentrating on this disc set since I find it much better if your starting from Zero. This set of instruction sets a much better pace for the beginner and you can gain a sense of accomplishment quickly with it that is fun and keeps you coming back. I believe I could learn Morse with the other course but it would have been a much more frustrating journey. I consider this an excellent course for beginners.
