This book is timeless and excellent. I read it 30 years ago and it created a deep awareness for the importance of prayers. I read it again 7 years ago with a prayer partner. We both would highly recommend it. It is a life-changer. Have a look inside to get an idea of Ole H's approach to the topic.

O Hallesby is one of only three western Christian used of God to bring true revival to the church. In this book you will begin to realize that prayer is not a way to get God to do things for us. Rather it is the way that we inter into God’s plan to bless us as we enter into his greater work of building up a church of true disciples..

I read this book 40 years ago and as a 20 year old Christian I thought it was inspired! I read this book as a 60 year old Christian, and it is so sound and such a great guide to improving your communication with God! This is not a "how to make God answer your prayers" book in any way! We have way too many of those. This book starts you on your journey to getting still, and doing the work of communicating with and relating to our heavenly Father! If having a better relationship with God is important to you, then I recommend this book. Simple, scriptural, Spiritual, and concise exposition that can be read and reread!

Best author on the topic of 🙏 prayer!!

This book has been around for almost a century, but it is as useful today as when it was first written in 1931. Though the language is a bit stilted to the modern ear, the content is timeless. Highly recommend.

I've been reading this book in a group committed to pay for our grandchildren. It has been an excellent base to begin a serious prayer project. I especially appreciate how he sets the stage with "helplessness." We are meant to come in helplessness to God in prayer, and when our self-sufficiency creeps in, we must confess and ask God for help even in our attitude of prayer. Hallesby has plenty of stories to exemplify his teaching from Scripture. I also especially like the 2 chapters on struggling with God in prayer. He uses Biblical examples to show how sometimes what needs to change in prayer is US!

Great book on the purpose and our need of prayer. A couple of small items I disagree with the author on, but the vast majority of the book and the main focus of the book is Scripture based and is great in helping us understand prayer. It is also written so almost any person is able to understand it. I highly recommend this book to all Christians.

I read this book every year. Hallesby's insights have dramatically improved my prayer life. If you think you suck at prayer and struggle to pray daily and don't know how to spend more time in prayer this is for you.
