is this made from real wood pine or manufactured to look like wood? thanks

Contrary to some the primary reason for fabricating larger panels of solid wood by utilizing the “butcher block” method of gluing smaller pieces together, especially when working with woods such as pine provides protection from warping. That being said, a cross section of the wider panels would reveal the direction of the grain of each block opposite that of the adjoining blocks, especially quarter sawn. This process is far more labor intensive, by man or machine, than just joining long lengths or wider panels.
