Extremely easy-to-follow directions; extremely easy to install the batteries (even if you don't know how to use a screwdriver). You can set each push button to a different or the same chime sound. We put the number icons (that come with the unit) in place of the picture icons and numbered each push button; we then put a legend (# = place/person) on a label inside the front panel to easily identify the user/space when the number lights up with the chime. We had looked at call pendants (not satisfactory for our requirements) and had worn out room monitors (which were not 100% satisfactory to begin with) before coming up with this solution. Electric (A/C) plug-in units won't work if the power is out, so we were only looking for battery-operated wireless "something". I have these units both at home and at my work and can highly, highly recommend them! The first unit I bought for the house and with a second remote button. Our home has a gate that is rarely used, but if it is closed I wanted a way for someone to let us know they were there but most remotes will not work this far away. The prior unit had a hard time going 20 feet from the front door to where the portable unit was, so I was suspect when I bought the Honeywell, especially because the second remote button would be mounted on a metal post about 70 feet away from the main unit. But everything worked wonderfully! Both buttons work 100% of the time and you can configure each with a different ring so you know where the person is. This unit also has a lot of alternative chime sounds and is capable of being very loud, if you need or want this. I needed to replace a wired doorbell at my shop. Some rodent chewed through wiring that was buried in a wall where I couldn't get at it easily, so I decided to go wireless. But since my building is all metal and the button would have to be mounted directly to it, the signal would have to go through / around a lot of metal to work and I wasn't sure that it would. Also, I wanted to mount the main unit far enough into the shop that it would be heard both in the shop and in the offices. This meant the signal not only had to go through metal walls, but through interior walls (with metal studs) and be about 150 feet apart. Amazingly, the unit works perfectly! No problem going through / around the metal building / studs and working with the main unit 150 feet away. It is also loud enough that you can hear it throughout the shop (about 7000 sq ft) and you can easily hear it still inside the offices (actually, the walls blunt the volume perfectly so it is not too loud!). Since we are often cutting metal with power saws in the shop, the fact that the unit also flashes a bright blue LED when activated is an added visual cue and benefit. Having used other wireless units (you know the brands that the big box home improvement stores sell), I can strongly say that you shouldn't waste your time to 'save money' by buying them! Buy this Honeywell unit (or its variation - there are a couple of other versions available). It works through walls, metal and at a very good range far better than any other unit I have tried!

This is the 2nd wireless door chime I bought. The first one was NOT a Honeywell and it never worked right. Needless to say, I returned it. So, I did extensive research before purchasing this one. And I am SO impressed - it is great! The choice of 6 chimes is nice. And I love the ability to set different sounds for different doors. The volume is pretty loud (I am slightly hearing impaired so I have it turned up all the way. It could be a bit louder for me...but I think it's fine for most people). As mentioned by other reviewers, it would be nice if it came with 2 doorbells (instead of 1) but I didn't mind spending the extra $9.99 for another doorbell since this chime/1 doorbell set was only $38. Great price! We use it for the front and side doors. Just to increase the volume a bit more, it might help if the speaker was on the front, instead of in the back (and slightly muted when you mount the chimes on the wall). But it's still pretty loud compared to most. And the flashing light is really a plus!! It's SO bright, it reflects off the walls & ceiling. The only negative is, although it allows you to connect other "systems" to it, the instructions do not explain how to do that at all or what type of systems and where to get them. I also tried the Honeywell website and still could not figure out how they work (like the "phone" system). But that's not really what I bought this for...I just needed a good, loud wireless doorbell system that works. And it does! So, it's not really a negative since it does exactly what I purchased it for. Anyway, this doorbell works so well, I have already recommended it to a friend.

When I was shopping for doorbells, I could not find the specs for the AC adapter & the measurements for this Honeywell 450-ft range chime. So here they are: -- The chime measures 4.5"W x 5.5"H x 1.8"D (like a large box of raisins?) -- The adapter port indicates that it should take one of 6V/600mA, but the polarity is ambiguous because it indicated + . - (a plus sign within a circle, then a dot with an open parenthesis, then a minus sign within circle. I'm sure it makes sense to gadget people, but none to me. From my layman point of view, I believe the Powerline 600mA adapter (6 switchable volts between 3 - 12 volts) will fit the bill. [...] Since I haven't received the adapter yet, I cannot rate the doorbell's performance. My house is a long stretch from the front to the back and Home Depot's doorbell, push buttons, & extenders have all failed in distance or have died; I am hoping this 450-foot range chime will not fail me. Will update on that. Hope specs were helpful. Update (8-16-11): The 6V/600ma adapter is working well with the chime. My only complaint is with the push button. If someone is pushing on it as though it is a wired doorbell and off-centered, the doorbell will not ring. You have to push the button directly in the center as much as possible and push firmly. I missed one friend because she couldn't ring it correctly, and even my daughter had trouble with it. I tried it myself and it didn't ring the first time, and it didn't ring when I immediately rang it again (the push button signal did not light up). Then I remembered some review said for it to reset. So I waited a few seconds and it rang fine. So my rating is still a 4-star instead of 5-star because of the push button. The longer range, sound, appearance, ease of installation are all 5-star. I wouldn't be too unhappy if I missed a salesperson or stranger because of the push button issue, but I got it mostly for my family's use and now they know exactly how to use the push button.

I purchased one of these sets to try it out. It works wonderfully. We have the push (the doorbell button) at our front door. The chime (the thing that makes the Ding Dong noise) can support a few different chime noises and several different devices; window opening detectors, additional push (for the back door maybe?) and other stuff. The chime has little icons that light up to show you what triggered the noise. You can set different chime noises for different things. I like that you can also set the chime to strobe a light for a few seconds when someone presses the push. This is nice for when you are watching a show on television that has the same ding dong noise that you are using! When you see the flashing lights coming from your chime, you know it's your door! I came back and purchased two more sets of push/chimes. I put an additional chime in my son's room/office. He does telephone support. He is not allowed to have any kind of noise that the customer can hear, so we turned the volume down almost all the way on his chime. We also turned on the strobe so he can see when someone presses the push at the front door. In my computer lab, it is very noisy. I am usually running air conditioning and playing music or running tools. I put a chime in there and turned it up all the way. When someone presses the push at the front door, I can usually hear it. If I have headphones on and do not hear it, I can see the strobe flashing. I cannot express just how convenient this is for me. It is ideal! It was easy to setup one push (door bell button) to multiple chimes. Just put all of the chimes into 'pairing mode', press the push button and voila' ! You're done! I looked through all of the reviews here on Amazon prior to purchasing my first push/chime set. I didn't see where anyone was using more than one chime with the same push. Well, I am doing it very successfully and it was very easy to setup. So, if you want a chime on the first floor with an additional one or more on the second floor, in the garage or out back by the pool, you are in luck! This one will allow you to have as many chimes as you like all setup to respond to the same buttons/window opening detectors, etc.

This thing worked out of the box (once batteries were installed) and the push button installed easily into the post of my wooden gate (2 screws and it was done). I put a deadbolt on my fence gate for security reasons, so visitors must ring the bell on the gate to let me know they have arrived. I have placed the door chime on the 2nd floor of my 3 story townhouse. The door push is located on the gate in front of my home on the 1st/main level. The bell rings without fail when pushed even though the 2 components are what I would consider to be a fair distance apart. I like the different chime options and the volume adjustment. I keep the volume set fairly high so that I can hear the bell from the garage on the 1st floor, or my bedroom on the 3rd. If there is anything that this unit lacks, it is a lighted push so that visitors who are not standing in front of a front door and cannot hear the doorbell chime coming from inside the house are at least aware that the button is in fact working. A lighted push would be one way to indicate to visitors who can't hear the muted sound of a doorbell coming from the house, that a doorbell did sound off somewhere and someone is on their way to open the door. The lack of a lighted push does not take away from the fact that this is a quality product, however. The long and short of it is this: this is an inexpensive and perfect solution for where ever a doorbell may be needed.

We had a wireless Westinghouse intercom system that started to fail after six years, and insofar as we were using it only as a doorbell anyway, the Honeywell door chime and push button seemed like a cheaper, smarter way to go. So far, it has been a good decision. The push button and chimes are smaller and better looking than the Westinghouse devices, and the bell rings clearly and immediately when the button is pushed, no delay or static or popping. We have two doors, and wanted two bells that would both ring when either button was pushed, with recognizably different bells for each so we would know which door to open. Other users have complained that such setups are difficult to configure. Forewarned, I was able to configure our system in about five minutes. The trick is that you can not merely program the bell for each buzzer; the bells come pre-configured to ring with their first option for the pushbutton in the box they came with. You need to DEPROGRAM this option before you can set the new one. Though the instructions for deprogramming are in the user manual, there is no complete walkthrough a case like the one I described, and I can easily imagine the device failing to register a new pushbutton because the default programming was still in place, and the user being left frustrated as a result. I also like how easy it is to switch it from sound to flashing light for a ring, which is nice when the baby is sleeping. Finally, though the device runs on batteries and is advertised as portable, it *is* possible to drive it with wall current if you have a transformer that fits. The port is there, Honeywell just didn't include the charger in the box.

I purchased two of these because I needed to have a chime at my back door and my main door, AND I needed the door bell to ring both upstairs and downstairs when someone presses either chime. Fortunately this product was exactly what I needed; I was able to follow the relatively simple instructions and sync one door chime to ring Bell # 1 (downstairs) and Bell # 2 (upstairs) with one distinct ring style, and sync the second door chime to ring Bell # 1 and Bell # 2 with a DIFFERENT distinct ring style. Works flawlessly now, and the range appears to be more than sufficient. My house is an old thick-walled New England home, with in one case at least a hundred feet between door and chime, and everything rings fine every time. (It's also held up nicely during our 2014 cold winter - even in -20, the chimes are working.) The door chime has some very cool extra features, like you can set it so the light flashes when a button is pushed, there are lots of different ring styles & alarms, and Honeywell has a really large collection of add-on modules this thing can work with. For instance, motion-triggered sensors that you can configure to make a specific sound if someone enters your driveway, stuff like that. (Anything that's "E"-series compatible at Loews or Home Depot will work, basically.) This is a pretty slick piece of equipment, and I'm very very pleased indeed with how my setup worked out. Oh, and don't forget to have four C batteries for each of these you purchase. The door chime does come with the watch-battery CR-2032 it needs, but getting a few extra of those is never a bad idea. I have set calendar reminders for myself online to replace the batteries in chime and doorbell every summer, just in case. Batteries are cheap, and who wants to have them go dead and not realize it?

The volume is adjustable and a good variety of chimes to choose from..........very user friendly as well. We like the fact that it is portable & that we can take it with us down to the edge of our property and still hear if we have guests arriving. Great product.

Great bell. I bought a wireless bell before this one but it would not work because of my metal front door. This bell rings, and is loud enough I can hear from anywhere in my house and if I have the music blaring, I can see the flashing lights. And it was cheaper than the other bell I bought. Over a year, no problems.

I purchased this for my place of work where we have opening security protocols. We had the issue of the doorbell buttons being broken or stolen so the fact that this unit has replaceable buttons is a great benefit as they are only ~$10 to replace. The range is good and allows us to take the chime anywhere in the building and still be properly notified.

Exactly as advertised...very easy to install.. don't forget the 4 C batteries you are going to need for the unit. Button comes with its own battery. Overall a very good choice for a residential front door. *** March 18th 2017 Still going strong after the winter, still happy with it.
