Artway Soft Cut Polymer A4 Sheets - Ideal for Printmaking/Lino Printing – Pack of 3 Sheets - Blue

I have recently started using this for block printing and it is so much easier to carve than traditional lino so I am a convert. I find it much easier to get delicate lines and marks in the designs. My hands are grateful for the ease of the cutting tools gliding through the block which makes for much quicker carving. That alone make the price good value.

I’m only really used to using traditional hard lino, but had heard and seen great things about the softer linos. Once you get the hang of not cutting too deep, it is good for clean lines and great for using as stamps as it’s easy to cut up into smaller blocks.

This is stuff is great for "lino" printing. It is much easier to carve than traditional lino and for a great price.

Great value as 3 x A3 sheets can be cut down to suit projects. Love the light blue provides better contrast

This is certainly easy to cut but the cut edges are prone to crumbling. I think it’s probably best for fairly simple designs or anything that doesn’t matter so much if there is a little irregularity in the edges, but for very detailed designs or if you want a very clean edge then I would use something like Esdee SoftCut. The print surface is good, the ink sticks to it properly and gives a nice, traditional lino kind of print although you need to make sure the surface is flattened before inking. The fragility of the cut edges mean that there is sometimes a sort of ragged, raised edge, so take care the brush them off and roll over it a few times, in-inked, to flatten it.
