INTEX 1,500 GPH Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump for Above Ground Pools, Swimming Pool Pump with Automatic Timer - Improved Circulation, Filtration, & Clarity

I don’t usually write reviews but felt this warranted one. If you have an above ground pool you need this. This is our third summer with our pool and our first summer with this filter. It was so hard to maintain the pool in the past with the A/C filters that you remove and rinse. It would take a week(s) to make a green pool clean and clear. This sand filter works so well and not only does the water flow faster it is also a more powerful stream. The filter doesn’t take up much space and is very easy to use. We hadn’t swam in the pool all week and I forgot to add a new chlorine tab so it was starting to turn green. I put in chlorine, algaecide and clarifier and the filter had it clear in less than two days. Very impressed with the quality and price. It didn’t cost much more than it would have cost to replace the old tiny filter that came with the pool. I have faith it will last for many years!

I bought and put up a Intex 15x42 Round Pool last weekend that came with a smaller 1000 GPH paper filter pump. A few years ago I had a slightly smaller pool and remembered I needed to get some extra paper filters. But while looking for them I stumbled on this larger Sand Filter, so I decided to upgrade. So no more checking, cleaning, or replacing paper filters - YAY ME! It came with the pump, two 1.5 hoses and new outlet. I haven't used the new outlet, perhaps later when I need to drain the pool - since I have to cut out the current one (there are YouTubes on this and seems simple - other than cutting on your pool!). In case you are wondering, yes you need to buy a bag of pool pump sand. I bought Mystic White II Swimming Pool Filter Sand - 50lb Bag here on Amazon. Since my pool came with the smaller 1.25 connections I needed adapters. Intex sells these here on Amazon. INTEX 1.25" to 1.5" Type B Hose Adapters for Pumps. I also bought Intex shutoff values, which seemed like a good idea and was. Though it isn't actually required to get the pump working (like the adapters are if you have 1.25 connections). Also here on Amazon. Intex Above Ground Plunger Valves So while I just installed it, I love it! Really pushes the water too. If it dies on me or some other calamity happens with the setup, I'll be sure to update my review.

Based on many reviews, I purchased the Intex SX1500 sand filter pump to ultimately spend less on chemicals. According to the Seller's description, this pump is for pools up to over 8,000 gallons. I have the Intex EasySet 15' x 48" pool, which holds just over 3,700 gallons of water. The pump that came with my pool was the regular cartridge pump that filtered 1000 gph, not enough power to circulate the pool and kept getting algae overgrowth. The realistic thing to do was get a more powerful pump. THIS PUMP IS NOT IT. I backwash, rinse and clean the hoses, filter and debris daily if needed (backwash daily). There is no user error. I don't know if the Seller is getting returned items from Amazon or pallet items and is selling them on Amazon, but this pump is very inefficient and doesn't have enough power to use a simple pool vacuum and definitely not to control the algae that keeps trying to grow in my pool. I am very disappointed in Intex, the quality has definitely gone down since I first became an Intex EasySet pool owner 15 years ago. Just to make note that I have all the right chemicals and supplies, use them appropriately when needed. My pool is in full sun for about 8 hours in the summer, then part to full shade as the sun goes down. P.S. Don't buy this at the end of season or continue to use what you had when or if you buy this pump. Seller's return is 30 days and all Intex will do is replace the pump just in case it's a faulty pump within the 2 year warranty. We just opened the box, assembled and connected this pump 3 weeks ago. I am waiting for a replacement, but honestly I don't have confidence in this pump.

To start off with, I live in Alaska and this year we have had a lot of rain. But then for a month or two, we had really nice, hot weather. (Perfect conditions for algae to grow!). Our paper cartridge filters were overwhelmed, so we got this pump to replace our above ground paper cartridge filters that could not keep up with the gunk. We followed the instructions for set up, and any time the pressure started to get close to the yellow, we back washed it. After awhile I noticed the pool was just not getting clean and gunk was accumulating on the bottom, the water was cloudy, it was just gross. Kids didn’t care though! It was to the point where even when I backwashed and rinsed to level the sand out, it was still throwing reddish or green water into the pool. We have only used this pump for about about 2-3 months. I finally took the pump apart and put the input hose i to the skimmer basket from the old cartridge pump and took the sand pump apart. The amount of algae growing in it was phenomenal. I thoroughly cleaned all the sand, took the solid chunks of algae out, rinsed the sand again, and then reassembled. I disconnected the output hose that goes to the pool from the filter and drained the gross water from it. Once everything was cleaned out and put back together, I turned the pump on. Clean clear water poured quite forcefully into the pool. I did not realize how weak the return water pressure had got. I figured out how to set the timer for how ling the pump runs for, and put that on 5 hours. A couple of days later and the pool was looking much better. I vacuumed it to help the filter, but it still needed more help. I put flocculant in and over night the pool was crystal clear. Vacuumed it again and it continues to run smoothly and is keeping up with the gunk. I also got a cover for the pool which is helping. The pump runs with the cover on and has no issues.

Bought this for my 16 foot pool, to upgrade the sfx1500 pump that came with it. Easy to install, but had to buy parts to allow the supply and output hoses connect to the skimmer and jet. If you search YouTube you can watch videos on how to do this. It’s also great not having to clean the paper filter daily in the pump that came with the pool. So far only two negatives with this pump. 1. The timer works good but their should be a pause timer option. If you turn it off to change settings it then resets the timer. 2. Using it to vacuum the pool, not a lot of suction. It will suck up debris, but you must go very slow, or else you will push the debris around and into the vacuum.

beautiful easy to assemble. great game changer (as they say ) pump is worth the money, you do nee to purchase the sand which was easy to do. at the local pool store, I think we saw it at a hardware store , very good video on u-tube which made things a whole lot easier !!!

Para los que tienen una piscina Bestway como nosotros (15000 litros), también les funciona muy bien este filtro de arena, solo tienen que comprar unos adaptadores intex (B) para que puedan embonar las mangueras con las entrada/salida de la piscina, es muy útil este filtro para mantener muy limpia el agua, parece difícil de armar y poner a funcionar pero no lo es, con el manual y un video de YouTube de refuerzo es suficiente para ponerla en funcionamiento, nosotros compramos arena de sílice filtrante 20/30, usa aproximadamente 12 kilos de arena, pero solo conseguimos un costal de 50 kilos y la verdad bastante económico (130 pesos) así que tendremos arena para muchos años :D Espero les sirva mi reseña, porque yo en lo particular quería una reseña así y no la encontré
