I am very happy with this watch
I am very happy with this watch. This is my first Casio G-Shock and so far, I love it. I think the size and shape are just right and I like the functionality. I was a little worried that it might be a little big and bulky on my wrist but I think it fits just right. I have an average size wrist and the watch doesn't look abnormally big on me. I really like the solar function. I wore Timex Ironman watches for years but changing the batteries was such a hassle due to the difficulty in getting the back off with the wrist band in the way. And I had to replace a couple of watches when I didn't get the back sealed properly and water got inside. I'm hoping that with this solar powered one, battery replacement is a thing of the past! It really doesn't take much effort to keep the battery fully charged. When I got the watch in the mail the battery level was at the third level (of four), or the level just below full charge. Initially it took a little bit to get the charge up to full and it went back and forth from full charge to down a level a few times over the first few days. I'm assuming the watch had been sitting in a warehouse out of the light for who knows how long so it probably needed some extended light exposure to fully charge. After a few days I was careful the expose the watch to direct sunlight for longer periods and that brought the charge up to full and it stayed there. Since then I haven't made any special effort to expose the watch face to light (sun or electric), just the exposure it gets through normal everyday use, and it has stayed fully charged. I've been really happy with the atomic timekeeping as well. The instructions go to great lengths to explain how you need to position the watch a certain way on a window sill at night so that the watch can receive the time keeping radio signals. It sounded like it was going to be a real pain since I prefer to sleep with my watch on. So far my watch hasn't missed the signal once even though it stays on my wrist in bed at night. I imagine that results might vary depending on where in the country (or world) you live and what the surrounding terrain is like. I live in the northeast US and in pretty hilly terrain but so far, no problems with reception. Other than those specifics, I like the overall look and function of the watch. I was concerned the numbers might be a little small but so far that has been fine. Figuring out the controls was not difficult. I did read the instruction manual to find out about some of the specific functions but overall I just played with the buttons a little bit and most of it is pretty intuitive. I've only had the watch for a few weeks so I can't speak toward it's long term durability but it definitely seems very well constructed and I look forward to many years of service. It looks like the band is relatively easy to replace should the need arise. Overall I think it is a great watch. If you are looking for something that is functional and durable, I highly recommend the G-Shock GW6900-1!

Takes a Beating, Keeps on Ticking
If Bruce Willis in Die Hard were a watch, he’d be the Casio G-Shock GW6900-1. This thing is tough. I’ve smacked it on door frames, dropped it off a ladder, submerged it in questionable water, and it just looks at me like, “That all you got?” Let’s talk features: solar-powered—so it charges with sunlight (or probably moonlight if it’s feeling generous). I haven’t thought about batteries since I put it on. And atomic timekeeping? Yeah, it literally syncs with satellites so it always knows what time it is, even if I don’t. It’s more punctual than I am. The backlight is bright enough to guide a lost camper back to civilization, the buttons are easy to press even with gloves on, and it just looks cool. Like, “Yes I do tactical stuff on weekends” cool—even if the most tactical thing I do is grill burgers in the backyard. Honestly, this is the watch you buy when you want something that works flawlessly, looks rugged, and could probably survive the apocalypse. Or at least your next clumsy moment.

Everything I wanted in a watch, and more!
For the record, I am by no standards a "watch guy," and have never been. But recently, I have wanted a watch but wanted a watch that would be rugged yet also show the day, day/month, and time, along with a few timers and such, and this watch has ALL OF THAT and more! My mom bought me this watch for Christmas. I knew I wanted a watch, so I did some research on Amazon and knew I wanted a Gshock. After lots of researching, and a lot of review reading, I told her to get me this Atomic Gshock...and it was the best choice for me! I've had it for almost 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it. Being a solar-powered watch, it is a little picky but just read the manual and you will know how to make it work great. Basically, just make sure it gets some sun light every now and then, and put it by the windowsill at night, and your good to go! Durability/Reliability: I have been on two backpacking trips so far, both of which temperatures ranged from 30 degrees during the day and 10 degrees at night. With the temperatures, chopping wood, being by the fire, hiking, snowing, getting it wet...this thing survived everything so far. I even put it in the snow overnight to see if it would survive the cold/wet, and it did. This was about a week ago and it is still going strong. It is obvious that these Gshocks can go through a lot, which is good for me as I am frequently doing outdoor activities such as hunting, hiking, kayaking, and shooting. Oh, which by the way, this Gshock handles the recoil if guns fine. I have been to the shooting range 2 times since I have had this watch, and it has been fine with numerous calibers all the way up to a .357 mag revolver. Comfortness: This watch is very comfortable. The band is "resin", which I believe is a very hard/durable rubber. Some people complain of some Gshock bands being uncomfortable, this watch is ANYTHING BUT. I have worn it everyday for 2½ weeks and at no point have I find it to be annoying or uncomfortable. At the same time, I think some people wear watches too tight. In the manual, it says it should be snug but loose enough to wear you can slide a finger between the band and your skin, which is exactly how mine is worn. Appearance/size: I personally think the size and look of the watch is perfect, no too small and not too big. I like how the time size is big, so is the day. This makes it super easy when I need the date for a document or the time if someone asks. I get A LOT of compliments on it, especially since I never wore a watch, so now when friends or coworkers see it on my wrist, they immediately say, "nice watch! when did you get that?" The look is rugged, which goes along well with my wardrobe (outdoorsman), yet also goes well with nice outfits. I don't think you could pull off wearing this watch with a suit, as you would want more of a stainless steel "nice" watch for that, but hey, this watch does look THAT good that I would try wearing it with a suit :D The watch has a bright LED background light with you can turn on manually, for 1 or 3 seconds for it to be on for. This watch also has a cool "auto light" mode, which when your in low-light, the watch will turn on the background LED light when you bring the watch up to your face to see the time (must be 45 degrees). This "auto light mode" can be turned on and off. This is a really cool feature, which I find using frequently at night, especially when I am outside chopping firewood, fishing, hiking etc. The three circular indicators on top are (from left to right) - amount of solar energy watch has (high, med, low), middle circle has the different timers, stopwatches, alarm settings, and the right circle is seconds by 2's (2 seconds, 4, seconds, 6 seconds, and so on to 10). All of these settings inside the circle itself will light up if they are "on," which is awesome as you can easily see if any alarms are on and how much solar energy your watch has. So right now as I look at my watch, the "high" setting is lit up so I know that my watch has a "high" charge of solar energy. I have one (of 5 possible) alarms on, so one of my alarm settings is lit up as well. At work, I put the 'mute' setting on, so that will light up as well if it is on. If any are off, they do not light up. Now one important thing is when I say "light up," I do not mean they literally light up as if you were to turn on the LED background light. I mean they "bold" if you will. If you look at the images of the watch, you will see some of the settings on the 3 circular indicators at the top of the watch will be "bold" if they are on. This is what I am talking about. Overall: I rate this watch a 5 out of 5 for the almost 3 weeks I have had it. I thought I would wear it every now and then, but I find myself wearing it day in and day out, to work, going hunting, watching tv, everything. I love the way it looks and I love that it has the time/day/month and seconds, as well as the 3 circular indicators, all very easy to see. One thing I did not go into was the numerous alarm functions, stopwatch, timers and all that jazz. Yes, it has all of that, but I don't use them. All I use is the alarm settings, but I think i will use the other functions in the future. This watch is AWESOME, and if you want everything that I mentioned in my review in a watch (reliability, durability, nice appearance, solar-power, comfortability), then I highly suggest you get this watch! Let's just put it this way - if this watch breaks, screen cracks, or anything of the above in the future, I will be sure to buy another one in a hearbeat.

Amazing Watch!
To preface this review, I'm young and want to give a bare bones, basic review which I hope helps people in deciding which watch to buy! I bought this watch on 7/26/2024 This is gonna sound like every other 5 star review of this watch but there are many for a reason. This watch is amazing. Prior to owning this watch I had worn a couple cheap digital watches who always broke on me after only a couple months of work outside. I would have to buy a new 20 dollar watch every other month and that cost added up. After a while I found out about G-Shock through a friend and began looking at their models. This one caught my attention due to its design and features which I'll go more into depth on soon. The many positives of this watch. 1- It's. Solar. Powered. I thought that tech only came in calculators! I cannot stress enough how useful this feature has been to me since it's basically a baterry-less watch, not having the hassle of changing a battery every year or so like with other watches. The watch arrived to me at medium charge but with just a day in the sun it went up to high and has stayed at that ever since. Casio rates its battery at around 7 months with no sunlight if at high but, if for whatever reason you were stuck in a pitch black cave, there's a way to double that metric! 2- It has a power save feature! The watch comes with a built in "Power-Save" feature which makes the watch turn its display off when in darkness for long periods of time. This is useful since at night, with no charging sources, the watch can metaphorically rest and save more charge for the next day or keep a steady power reserve if you are in a place that doesn't get as much sunlight as other places in the world! 3- Multi-Band 6 Arguably the best feature of this watch is "Multi-Band 6". What does it do? Well, it allows the watch to connect to an atomic clock every single night (if you are within range of the 5 around the world, 1 located in the United States, 1 in Germany, 1 in the UK, 1 in China and 2 in Japan) which makes this watch a true set it and forget it piece. When it arrived it had not yet recieved a signal but, after turning on the feature, that very night it recieved a radio signal which set it to the second. Since then it has never missed a day of syncing which has allowed me to have accurate timekeeping at all times, a live saver for assignment due dates (you'll thank your lucky stars your watch is accurate to the second when submitting an assignment at 11:59 PM) and many other things. 4- General Construction and Legibility This watch is very comfortable, I have never had issues with the stock strap or the case itself, in fact, the strap's integrated ventilation gaps (the 2 raised portions at either end of the case where the strap begins) are actually very useful to keep the watch cool when outside in very hot climate. The watch is also, of course, very robust. It has handled months of sweat from workouts, the occasional bash against concrete walls, pool swimming and showering, etc. If anything the watch is a bit overkill for the average person, I have proper scratched it by accident against a rough concrete wall and only a minor scratch on the bezel appeared. It's the real deal. As for legibility, it's great! My eyes are young and yet to deal with the perils that come with small digital displays but as of now it is a very usable display. The numbers are slightly bigger than on other G-Shock models I've seen and are big enough to quickly glance at without squinting. The backlight is also great! It can be set to 1 or 3 seconds but I have mine set at 3. Very useful when you wake up randomly and want to check the time without fully getting your phone. All in all, for a regular guy, this watch is amazing. It's money well spent and it has done well so far in my 5 months of ownership. I doubt it will ever let me down and I will make sure to provide updates as the months go by, do yourself a favor and buy this watch, I could not recommend it enough.

Perfect Gift for Someone Hard on Watches
I purchased this watch as a gift for my brother, and it turned out to be exactly what he needed. He actually uses his gear at restaurant work tasks - heat, water and many other challenges, an everyday wear, real-life conditions and this watch handles it without hesitation. It feels solid and dependable, and the solar battery makes it practical for years of use. It’s not flashy or overly complicated, which is part of its appeal. The display is straightforward and easy to read. For anyone who wants a rugged, long-lasting watch that can handle daily challenges without constant maintenance, this is a dependable option. I would confidently recommend it as a practical gift.

A few things to keep in mind!!
After thoroughly studying all the Casio watches I decided on this model and it's a nice one. The atomic time and solar battery are great features and definitely worth having!! I also like the fact that two of the subdials let you know the battery charge level as well as which features (hourly time signal, alarm, daylight saving, etc.) are on and which are off. The large subdial ticks off the seconds in groups of ten. Kind of fun to watch. There are a couple of things to keep in mind though so that you are not surprised when you open the box. The bluish color of the subdials is actually somewhat darker than shown unless viewed in very bright light and it makes the settings very hard to see. I also think it makes the watch look a bit odd and somehow out of balance. The bluish coloration is ONLY shown on the pics and videos and remember, it's darker than shown!! The blue color is NOT shown on the large main-page view that you see first!! It wasn't a deal-breaker but I was never-the-less disappointed. Another thing to be aware of is that the battery charge level was at medium when I received the watch and it took several days in full sun to fully charge. Also, the time and date screen is somewhat recessed and it makes the display a bit difficult to see unless you are looking straight downward. One last thing: Most of the instruction booklets and sheets are in Spanish. There was one in English though, plus you can convieniently download and save the English instructions on your phone and computer. Over all, it's a real nice watch. None of the negative things I mentioned were enough for me to want to return it, although that deep blue coloration of the subdials made me think about it. Just be aware of what I mentioned so you aren't surprised.

Intuitively and simply read digital time
I have a Casio AQ-S810W that I bought 15 years ago. A few years ago, a solar power battery was replaced to continue its service, and the quality is stable. This is an analog pointer solar electronic watch that combines traditional pointers with digital display The LCD screen on the dial displays numerical time, date, and other functions I usually check the digital time on the LCD screen during use because it is intuitive, simpler, and more convenient, And the pointer time puts a cognitive burden on me. But this 1.2cm x 0.4cm display screen is too small! It is difficult to quickly see the time during movement and in poor lighting, Moreover, the movement of the pointer obscured the numbers. I think it's time to buy a Casio watch that only shows digital time to replace it! Then I chose this model GW6100-1 Casio watch. It is important that, it is solar-powered. It provides a 2cm x 1cm LED display with digital time and date. The screen size is just right. The clear and transparent LED numbers allow me to see them clearly at a glance.I'm very satisfied with this electronic watch. Due to the continuous supply of energy from the solar energy source, the power can't be used up at all. I turned on almost all the functions to consume more power.: I turned off DST(daylight saving time )and PS(power saving mode); Adjust LT1 (backlight for 1 second) to LT3 (backlight for 3 seconds) Usually when cycling at night, I will turn on A.EL (automatic backlight), Lifting your wrist will automatically trigger backlight illumination without the need for manual buttons; I activated SIG ᵒⁿ (time signal), Let it beep at the o’clock; I have activated 4 ALE (10 second alarms) to remind me of precautions. The new watch shows high battery, No need to bask in the sun to replenish electricity.Made in Thailand . If your arm circumference is 16 cm ,The strap buckle just fits in the 5th hole, It is very comfortable to wear. Then, solar watches also have fatal flaws: outdoor workers are exposed to the sun all day,Overcharging shortens the service life of the machine.

Great watch: exceeds expectations
I bought this watch for adventure vacations. It supports two time zones, including the oddball ones, like Newfoundland and India. It is solar powered, so I don't think I need to worry about the battery for years to come. Right after I bought the watch, I went on a scuba vacation. When I got to my destination, I realized I forgot to pack my scuba watch. Since this watch is rated for 20 atmospheres, I figured, what the heck? I will use it for a dive watch. If it works, I can save the inflated destination price of a real dive watch. The owner's manual clearly states that this watch should not be used for scuba or any other water sport involving the use of air in tanks. I do not recommend using it in this manner, as it voids the warranty. The manual also recommends that the user not push buttons while under water. This recommendation I followed, starting the timer right before entering the water, and stopping the timer after coming to the surface. For me, this watch was adequate as a dive watch in open water. The case got a lot of abuse from banging against equipment and rocks, and still looks new. I would give this watch 5 stars, except I find myself have to really work at the buttons to use some of the functions. Overall, though, if you are looking for a tough watch that delivers good value, this watch would be hard to beat. *** 3 Year Update *** I have been wearing this watch regularly for 3 years now. It has held up well for diving, snorkeling, mountain climbing, and kayaking. It has proved very accurate, and of course the atomic clock synching function helps in that department. I originally rated this watch at 4 stars due to buttons being a little hard to use. Over time, they have gotten easier, so I am raising the rating to 5 stars. I am very hard on watches and have broken several with less strenuous activities. This one takes a beating and holds up to it.

Just Perfect
Watch exceeded my expectations in every way. Dimensions are perfect on the wrist, bigger than its square counterparts, but definitely not as big as other G-Shocks. The bracelet also fits very well on the wrist and is super comfortable. It’s definitely worth shelling out the extra cost to have Tough Solar. Watch has all the functions I could ever need and then some.

Amazing Watch
A wonderfully comfortable G-Shock, easy to read screen with so many feautures such as solar power, atomic timekeeping, countdown timer, world time and multiple alarms. Despite the obvious toughness, the watch is light and almost feels weightless on the wrist. It was sent very well packaged and it arrived bang on time, thanks to an excellent seller! If you need a stylish but sturdy watch that is practical and functional then buy this. You will not be disappointed. I absolutely love this model!!!
