Would deserve SIX stars
For me and for my wife, cooking is a kind of a hobby. Before buying a meat grinder, we analyzed several models. The first conclusion: the most important feature of a meat grinder is the motor power. This STX has a powerful 1,800 watts motor, more than enough to do all of the duties of a home kitchen (and maybe even of a small restaurant). Other meat grinders with smaller motors, such as 500W or 800W, will not fit for heavy duty (10 or more pounds at once), nor will be able to deal with some kinds of meat. After some research, we ordered it from Amazon. The delivery time was as promised. The machine was very well packed in a so protective box. Our first test of the product revealed that we made the right choice. Some points to highlight: 1. Most parts are polished aluminum. So easy for cleaning, very nice appearance; 2. The finishing is careful at every detail. It is clearly a good quality product; 3. It works wonderfully. The powerful motor is far more than enough for regular meat; 4. The ground meat texture results very similar to that from a supermarket grinder. I've seen other home meat grinders that produced a kind of a paste. This one, however, preserves the texture as it should be: perfect for hamburgers, tartar beef and so on; 5. It is so easy to assemble/disassemble and to operate. Impossible to mistake; 6. Despite we didn't use it yet, the sausage kit will be very helpful. In short, this is a 5 stars product, no doubts about that. But we had a problem: the aluminum parts are NOT dishwasher safe. We didn't notice that, and what went to the dishwasher was damaged: the shining was gone and those parts became some rough to touch. So, I contacted the seller (The Mercantile Station) and asked them the price of the replacing parts, since I would buy them. What a pleasant surprise: they promptly sent me an email asking for my address, and they kindly offered to send the parts for free (despite, I must stress, the damage was caused by me). What an elegant attitude! So, would Amazon allow it, the seller would deserve SIX stars. IMPORTANT NOTE: a few months after we bought our STX, the motor was improved to 2,000 watts, i.e, an increase of about 11%. I'd guess that, with this new and more powerful motor, the machine will able to perform an even heavier duty. My one is still working so fine, no complaints at all. AN ADDITIONAL NOTE AFTER ALMOST 2 YEARS OF USE: the machine is still perfect, as when it was new. No problems at all. I am really impressed with the superior quality. A great deal!

Great grinder, not so great stuffer.
I purchased the STX Turboforce 3000 series grinder to begin my adventures in sausage making. First off, let me say I am very pleased with how quickly the item arrived (6 days before promised date!), and the condition of the item from shipping. The instruction manual that came with the grinder is very clear and concise. It is a MUST read before use, especially if you are new to this stuff like I am. Follow the washing instructions to the letter! Also I think it's important to note that you should wash the grinding plates immediately after use. I left mine out for about an hour prior to washing and oxidation had already started. Silly me to think I could take a break after stuffing prior to cleanup. The grinder works like a charm. It is easy to assemble, and it's very easy to change the grinder plates. I personally liked the pictures that came in the manual to help me put everything in properly. We ground about 12 lb of pork shoulder without any issues. Some sinew was wrapped around the auger at the end, but it did not detract from the performance of the grinder during the operation. The meat came out with a consistent grind and texture. I debated buying a stuffer before this trial run. I thought I would give the grinder a try at it and see how it worked...BIG mistake. While it does stuff sausages, and admittedly it does stuff them well, let me warn you. You will receive quite a workout stuffing the meat through the auger tube. My buddy and I are both in pretty good shape and we got a good tricep workout pushing 10 lb of meat through this. Clean up - other than the previously mentioned mistake I made, cleanup wasn't too terrible on this unit. It comes apart easily. There are several areas that can be difficult to clean. The corner of the "horn" where the auger meets the hole coming in from the top - I spent some time making sure all the meat got out of there. Also, some of the meat made its way into the thread of the tightening piece that holds the grinder plate on it. Next time I might use a toothbrush to help with some of those areas. I like the attachments that come with the unit and am anxious to make some kibbeh - used to eat it a lot in the Dominican Republic when I lived there. Also I appreciate that it comes with three blades. In all this is a great unit. It is somewhat noisy, but not an issue considering it's grinding meat. I don't expect it to be whisper quiet. My only issues would be with the cleanup (would be nice to be able to detach that top tube from the horn) and the effort required to stuff. If you're planning on stuffing more than 3 lb of sausage at a time, get a stuffer.

STX Turboforce 3000
"STX TURBOFORCE 3000 SERIES - 1800 WATT" 2.4 HP RATED ELECTRIC MEAT GRINDER - 3 HARDENED STEEL CUTTING BLADES - SAUSAGE STUFFING TUBES!!! I was looking for a meat grinder that would grind bones for making pet food at home. I researched the Inet and read reviews on atleast 40 grinders. After doing so, I purchased the STX Turboforce 3000 and I am so glad I did. I read that if the meat was somewhat frozen, it was easier to grind in most grinders. I want to tell you, I was so excited to try out this grinder after purchase that I used thawed chicken legs and thighs (ofcourse, bones and all). This machine sucked them up and spit them out so quickly and easily that I could not believe my eyes. It was so much fun and so fast and the meat came out perfectly. I was surprised that it worked so easily without the meat being even the least bit frozen. I also ground up steak and made some great quality ground beef. I washed the parts that were involved with the grinding so easily and sprayed some vegie oil on those parts per the instructions and have used this machine about 5 times now without any problems or regrets! I love this grinder - the look of it; the fantastic job it does; the price - everything. It was delivered in about 7 days without any express shipping payments. One thing I was surprised about tho, many of the reviews said it was loud, but the 3000 model was not loud. It made a little noise but it was not bad at all. I have to say, if you are looking for a really great meat grinder, I would highly recommend this one without hesitation and I am sure my dogs and cat would too. They love the food I have made for them and they are able to maintain their health at a lower cost for me! What's better than that?! Happy grinding.

Now on year 8 of this grinder
Tomorrow, I was planning on grinding some pork loins for ground meat, which made me think about how long I have been using this grinder. Yes, 8 (eight) years now. I want to tell you how great this thing works and also, don't expect it to be a great sausage stuffer. Now, on to the review. First, I had ground deer, beef, pork, chicken, and even rabbit in this machine. When I first bought it, it came with less but, I'm still rocking it. As long as you clean it well after use, store it back in the box, it will work every single time. As they state, do not grind tendons from animals, as they will just get bogged down in the grinder. Also, it will stuff sausage but, it doesn't do a great job at it, seriously not good. Get a dedicated stuffer for that job, trust me, you will thank me later. Also, before grinding, place your grinder parts in the freezer for an hour ahead of time, this will keep your meat from warming up during the grinding process. The colder the meat, the easier the grind as well but, not frozen. There hasn't been a single part of this machine that has broken, rusted, or given me any trouble. The smallest grinding plate is a little difficult to clean at times but, those wholes are tiny. We rarely use it, unless we are grinding rabbit belly flaps, that are really tough. Honestly, I wish they made a storage case for the grinder and the parts, that would be amazing so, I wouldn't have to baby the manufacturers box and Styrofoam. However, it's still in one piece and stays stored in the box, when not in use. Personally, a couple years later I picked up a hakka sausage stuffer, that makes things 500 times easier, when making sausage. Plus, the sausage maker TSM pretubed casings speed up your sausage making experience. Also, I have never cleaned my grinder parts in the dish washer, only manually by hand. One more tip, pick up a good bottle brush, to clean the inside of the grinding tunnel. Excellent product, 8 years later. A+ Oh yeah, the price isn't much different either so, that's awesome.

Powerful and Easy to Clean
I have held off reviewing this grinder for a few months in order to put the STX-3000-TF grinder through its paces in my own kitchen. I must say I am very pleased with this purchase! It has met or exceeded my expectations in every way. The first thing I noticed when I got it was how easy it was to assemble. I was able to figure it out quickly, and after a quick washing of the various parts, I put it to use grinding meats. There are several grinding plates and blades that makes this machine very versatile โ I can get the kind of grind I want by changing the blade and plates, which is a snap to do. The motor is quite powerful and makes grinding effortless. I finally tried the sausage stuffer and I really love being able to make my own sausage blends! This grinder works very well for sausage stuffing, although Iโve found that itโs easier accomplished with two people โ one to keep the meat flowing down into the grinder and one to handle the sausage casing and filled sausage. Iโve done it by myself, however. All the parts are easily disassembled and cleaned. They are not to be thrown in the dishwasher, but they are extremely easy to hand wash. I really appreciate the ease with this this grinder breaks down and gets cleaned. Honestly, I was dreading the clean-up process but itโs really simple. Hubby will be going hunting this year so Iโm looking forward to revving up the grinder soon to process whatever he brings home. I am confident that this grinder is fully up to the task โ and more! Bottom line: 5/5 for quality, power, ease of use, and ease of cleaning. I fully recommend it.

Very good appliance
I bought this machine following the national "pink slime" disclosure when I found out my local Safeway was content to spike their hamburger meat with stuff that used to only go into animal feed. While I continue to wonder what other liberties they are taking with the food they sell while staying just inside the line of legality, I thought I would take the leap and custom prepare my own ground beef and sausage so that I know what goes into it. God knows we eat enough of it around here. This STX 3000 turned out to be very nice indeed. Although the vendor was out of stock when I ordered it, they ultimately shipped it 10 days ahead of their outside promise. Also, perhaps some advertising copywriters got confused or carried away with the grinder's model number of 3000 but this is NOT a 3000 watt appliance. 3000 watts would not be driven by a 20 amp residential electrical circuit ..... which brings me to another matter, that being how powerful is it really? Some sources claim 1800 watts which is more plausible but I find no rating marks on the motor base (including no UL label which doesn't bother me), only a "Q.C. Passed" sticker similar to what is generally found on Chinese products. I'm mindful that some reviews I read online boasted the STX is American made. I doubt it but that doesn't make much difference. The fit and finish are just fine and the grinding blades, dies and housings have perfectly fine tolerances .... and the unit doesn't make an undue amount of noise. Included are fine and coarse grinding plates -- apparently of hardened steel -- as well as a third plate with extra roomy pass throughs for extruding sausage into casings (accessories supplied for this as well). There are also three identical cutting blades permitting one to be permanently matched to each plate so that they can properly "seat" with each other over time. Nice touch. I ran a test 3 lb chuck roast through to see how it shakes out. I trimmed the meat into strips sized so that they would fit through the feed tube. I then laid them out on a sheet pan and put them into the freezer for 45 minutes. When they were somewhat stiffened but not frozen I ran them through the coarse plate. It worked perfectly. The machine has two forward speeds as well as reverse. I used the low speed intentionally to see if it would bog down under load. Nope. Worked just fine. The meat came out very evenly textured. Clean up is all hand wash as you probably know already. You should never put aluminum into the dishwasher because it dulls terribly. When I disassembled the grinding assembly I found almost no usable meat left behind the plate and only some fat and sinew that collected around the outside of the grinding tube. Everything washed up nicely and I oiled (canola oil) the steel parts lightly to prevent rust before they were stowed away. So, bottom line is this is a fine meat grinder that apparently does all that is expected of it. It is NOT some anemic department store piece of crap. I would recommend it to anyone.

It keeps going and going. Tremendous preformance & value!! 6 years of rigorous use and counting๐
It keeps going and going. We purchased this on December 1, 2014. We have put it to hard use for 10 years. This is the first year we used the sausage attachments. We made deer jerky with it and the results are amazing. In the jerky forming process it ran for longer periods of time without a break than it does with the initial grinding and still, it never missed a beat or appeared overtaxed. We have not even had to so much as change the blade in this bad boy. But it. Update: Itโs 6 years later and I am still as thrilled and thankful for this product today as I was when I first used it. We put it through a lot of work every deer season, ourselves and lending it to a couple close friends for their deer. We have ground an entire mature cow with it in just a few hours, which includes preparing the meat for grinding. I love this appliance and hope they never ever ever stop making them in case mine were to some day fail. I would cry. We purchased this to replace another grinder. The problem we were having with our previous machine had to do with gristle accumulating on the grinding plate & clogging it. Since we primarily do venison, overcoming this obstacle was our main concern. The low price of this model was intimidating, but based on the reviews, we purchased it and hoped for the best. We got what we hoped for, not what we paid for, that is for certain. When I removed the product from the package, I could see that it was a much higher grade of equipment than what we had been using. The feed tube and where the meat comes out was larger, about the diameter of a soda can. It was lighter weight than I expected but looked durable and the buttons felt nice & sturdy. The first time we used it was on an older buck, which are generally tougher and have more gristle than younger deer and does. No worries with this machine, it never bogged down or seemed over-cumbered with the strips, we filled quart freezer bags in less than a minute each. My husband stopped worrying about trying to painstakingly remove the gristly fibers that characterize venison, as they passed through the machine so tremendously well that it made doing so completely unnecessary. We are both smitten and 100% satisfied with it. Well, okay, I'm 99% satisfied. My only disappointment is that it's not dishwasher safe, nor should it be bleached due to discoloration & eventual deterioration under continual use of bleach. I am really into kitchen sanitation, so washing an appliance that has been in contact with raw meat with just soap and water is a little disturbing to me, but it did appear to come clean, and quite easily I should add. I'm also not particularly fond of the fact that the tubes & tray are aluminum, but I can handle that too, in light of the surpassing performance and extraordinarily affordable price tag. I confidently recommend this appliance.

This machine Rocks!
We just got our new STX INTERNATIONAL STX-3000-TF Turboforce 3-Speed Electric Meat Grinder. This was the first time we used it, and it ROCKS! We've been using the Kitchen Aid grinder attachment for nearly 20 years, and needed to upgrade. We relied heavily on the Amazon reviews in making our decision. We wanted something reliable and that would hold up with heavy use. We ground 50 pounds of meat through it today - 20 # of pork butt, and 30# of beef chuck. This grinder comes with three cutting blades and three grinding plates. We did the coarse and the fine (so 100 lbs total). It literally took only one hour total to do it all (and it took me that long to cut it up and prep it first). It only took 15 minutes to run each of the 20 or 30 pounds through each time. With breaks and prep, clean up etc., we spent about 3.45 hours total, but could have done it in less time if needed. This thing is no toy -- it is a serious machine -- loud and powerful, but worth the $159 we paid. Easy clean up (after grinding) and lots of benefits over the other kitchen aid grinder. It's a monster! Features we like: #1: It stays cold while grinding. We chilled our meat after cutting it into strips, and the grinder stayed cold as well. With continuous grinding for long periods of time, the housing was warm to the touch, but not hot. #2: It is powerful. I cut up large strips of nearly frozen meat about 1"x1"x 8". The meat feeder is offset from where the auger is, so when you drop the meat in, it grabs it and pulls it right down. It bogs down a little, but never missed a beat. It just kept on taking the pieces as I dropped them in. #3: Clean up was OK. It took about 10 minutes (after grinding). We followed the instructions as written, as the parts can become discolored if not treated properly. #4: It is easy to use. We are very familiar with grinding meat, and the instructions were written for ease of understanding, with good tips. Anyone that posted that the machine didn't work, didn't do it right (blade in backwards). #5: 3 cutters, 3 die and 3 sausage stuffers, plus a Kubbe attachment, that we'll have to learn about. There was some history in the instructions, but no recipe. #6: Size. It isn't huge. The body is smaller than my kitchen aid, but the parts for grinding are much larger than the kitchen aid, making it able to work much much faster compared to the kitchen aid. #7: The aluminum parts make the meat go through quickly without getting all stuck, as it does with the plastic kitchen aid. Down sides: #1 We also made sausage. We did a 3# Summer sausage and 3# of snack sticks. The summer sausage went through OK, but the snack sticks took a long time and the meat kind of balled up inside the unit, and didn't process through like it should have. We did not have the meat as cold as when we ground it, so that could have been part of the problem. It could have been the stickiness of the meat due to the cure etc. We'll be contacting the company and looking for more clues to improve the process next time. Slow processing was one of the reasons we didn't do more sausage with the kitchen aid. If you are a serious sausage maker and will be doing more than a few pounds, you may want to look at a stand alone stuffer. #2: The instruction manual is not extensive. We understand what to do, because we have experience. If you are new to grinding and stuffing, you might want to put some dedication into learning about processing meat, buy a book, etc. This may be a little intimidating to someone that has no experience at all (but it is simple to use, so don't be turned off. #3: Cleaning the unit after stuffing sausage was pretty tough. I need to find a good bottle brush and some other utensils to get all of the meat and fat out of the unit when done. It was pretty sticky. It would be nice if the manufacturer would send some cleaning utensils with the unit. #4: It is loud, but we knew that when we bought it. It is powerful, and the noise is expected. The price and quality make up for the noise. If you are only going to do a few pounds of meat here and there, this machine is probably more than you need. If you are going to grind a lot of meat or grind frequently, then this machine should be very useful to you. The components feel high quality, there was thought put into the design, and it can put out a lot of ground meat in a very short period of time. Sausage stuffing? We are not done with that angle and need to see if it is us or the machine that caused it to be so labor intensive. Highly recommend this for the price! I will be buying large cuts of meat with this unit in mind.

Powerful, durable, easy to clean kitchen appliance
I considered several different brands before I selected the STX international as the right grinder for my needs. I required a machine which had enough power to grind a percentage of chicken bone along with meat in order to prepare a raw food diet for my Bengal cats. This unit has between 600-800watts of power under load, which I correctly assumed would be adequate for my needs. This grinder makes short work of chicken drums/wings etc. no problem. The grinding parts are cast aluminum and clean up beautifully in super hot soapy water. I read the instructions carefully prior to use so as to avoid discoloration and damage to the parts for their first washing and first assembly. As the manual recommends, I keep each blade in a separate plastic container with *Its Mated Cutting Aperture*. According to the manual, this will keep each blade sharper and will extend blade life. I liberally dose each cutting aperture and blade with olive oil to prevent rust. In my opinion, this is a high-quality appliance which will, with proper care and informed maintenance, perform for many years perfectly. As an added bonus, I registered my product online and received a 3 year manufacturers warranty for my trouble. An excellent value included in the price of the machine. **quick update** If you are using this appliance to prepare a raw chicken cat food diet, I strongly advise you to use chicken that is still frozen. Not deep frozen solid, but still somewhat 'crispy'. Otherwise you will end up with clogs and this makes the whole procedure much more time-consuming. Overall, I am incredibly satisfied with this appliance. It is user friendly, grinds boneless beef and pork as though they were marshmallows and for the first time in my life I was able to have a hamburger at slightly under medium temperature because I ground the beef myself from lean, delicious sirloin! As I said, I purchased this item to make a raw diet for cats---but now my husband is after me to make homemade pork sausages every weekend for breakfast! Life's good.
