Wonderful book with great message
If you haven’t read any of the Tacky the Penguin books, you need to. Kids love this silly penguin who is an unexpected hero. I love the message of these books-that being different can be incredibly valuable!

My daughter really enjoyed reading the Tacky the Penguin books. This is one of her favorite stories.

Three Cheers for Tacky rocks!
Tacky the Penguin is a odd bird but everyone loves him. This book is great for children who are worried about being perfect. Tacky can rarely follow expectations but has a big heart and often saves the day. In this book he creates an original cheer for his team that helps them win the prize of blue ties and manages to keep the judges awake during the competition. A fun humorous read with the sweet message.

Finding your unique self
This is such a sweet story about being different and being accepted. I had my kindergartners color a penguin clip art pic and draw a pic of something they tried hard to do and succeeded. They colored a paper bow clip art tie and I taped it to their shirts. I made crepe paper and popsicle stick pompons and we repeated the cheers Tacky made. They loved it and understood it’s ok to be different.

We love all the Helen Lester books and this one doesn't disappoint. The Tacky books have a special place for my 4 year old.
