Wonderful and simple
I picked up a book on doing trim carpentry a couple of years ago so I could improve my results. In the book he recommend several techniques and tools. Spring miter clamps were recommended for glueing all of the door and window moldings before mounting them. What a marvelous difference. The spring spreader is a well made forged tool with comfortable handles. The spring wires are very strong but easily spread with the tool. The tips of the wires are cut on a diagonal so they are quite sharp on the leading edge so they penetrate even hardwood easily and thus stay in place, imperitive with miter work. I consider them one of my favorite tools along with my new skills picked up from Trim Made Simple from Gary Katz.

fills a gap
As a finish carpenter I pre-assemble everything I can. I use Collins pinch clamps for the majority of these assemblies but there are times when they don't exert enough pressure to close a short point in a twisted moulding. These clamps do. Much of my assembly is done from the back side so the hole left by the clamps are a non issue. These clamps do benefit from a bit of re-grinding. It took about 30 min. at the bench grinder to sharpen them to a flat bottomed sharp point. The advantage is that they grab better when the clamping angle is less than ideal as one finds on the back side of crown moulding and the holes left are much smaller and easier to touch up on the rare occasion that I use these on the front of an assembly. I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because of the regrind, but consider the purchase money well spent when I compare these to the Ulmia clamps at nearly 3x the price without a huge difference in function.

Easy to use and a must have to hold mitres together.
I have more then one of these type of sets. Regrettably my other sets were a waste of money. Your set is great. It’s much stronger then the ones I’ve used in the past. I would however make the openings a bit smaller on some of the springs. I’m a master woodworker and trim carpenter and the smaller opening would serve me much better. Thank you.

Good value
I have had Ulmia's for over 20 yrs. and they have just gotten to out of sight for what they are. They are just spring steel and a spreader. These work just as well, and they come in a nice case. I can take these on the job and not worry about them. Keep the good ones in the shop. I would certainly buy these again. Thanks

spring miter clamp set
As starter set of spring clamps this is a good deal (spring clamps, pliers, and case). That said, the cut or grind on the end of the clamps is substandard. To make mine work properly I needed to grind them for consistency. they work best when sharp. Now they work as intended.

Not going to do better at this price
Pretty good set. I don't think you can do better for the price. Some reviews claimed they had to modify the clamps, but I found they worked fine out of the box. Any set like this is going to leave a small dent in your work.

Don't bother with this set.
The spreader tool does not fit any of the springs. You have to force them on the tool then when you apply them the tool comes out. When you remove the clamp you have to pry it off the spreader and watch them fly across the room. All of the clamp tips need sharpening as they are all jacked up. wanted to return the set but since I have to handle the return postage myself and it would cost me more money to take the time to do that I canceled the return. Wish I had the $200 bucks to get the nice set that works properly out of the box. You get what you pay for. Very disappointed.
