A decent hat but a tight fit out of the box
It's a decent quality straw hat, worth the price; sadly it just doesn't fit my head quite right. Out of the box it was tight on the sides, and a bit loose at the front and back. It's relaxed a bit with regular wear, so it might just take some time to break in properly.

Third time's the charm
It took me three tries to get this hat. My fault for getting the size wrong. #1 was plain and simple being brain dead. Good packing, as expected, everything was right but the customer was stupid. A shout out to National Rodeo Supply. Hat well packed and NRS catalog with more rodeo stuff than I knew existed. Downright intimidating. Number two came from NRS, too. Fail. Right box, right packing - used incorrectly. The hat bounced around in the box, the coating wore through in one corner of the cattleman crease and... that went back. The hat was a touch small, but would have settled in over time. I could have asked for a replacement, but took the opportunity to go up a size. Number three was sold by, I assume, a drop shipper. The hat came directly from the importer (Hecho in Mexico - No es un problema) in Sulfur Springs, TX. Boxed right. And... the hat showed up two-three weeks before the promised date. Whoohoo! But... no diamond venting, although it's the right model number. The importer supplied six vent holes with grommets instead. I'll worrying about that detail. I have the right size. When in doubt, buy the next size, and stuff some paper towel, folded to taste, inside the hat band. Easy-peasy. BTW, going ever slightly down size means your hat's less likely to go somewhere in a stiff breeze or when riding. Always store a hat upside down if you don't have a stand. Every cowboy knows you pull down the hat on the brim and never ever the crown. ADDED: After a day with the hat, I tweaked the fit with paper towels - better. :) This is a shantung fiber hat. Shantung fiber is made with a very good grade of rice paper. If that's a problem, you can have a straw straw hat for three to four times the cost of this hat. Your call. Some hats are made with bangora straw a very down market version of shantung straw. The paper used in the fiber is... deal-breaker IMHO. The hat's coated with an approximately ivory or maybe straw coating. Without it, any straw hat probably won't survive a heavy dew, let alone rain. If that bothers you... yep, three-four times, etc. ADDED: Brushing the hat with branches or anything stiff, it sounds as though the hat's made out of plastick. It's not, it's caused by the the stiffener. The hat's pre-creased. I like the crease. Forget steam or soaking and recreasing or reblocking. What you see is what you get. This is my "summer" Twister. My wool Twister has is my not-summer hat. It's also stiff, although maybe it can be steamed. But I like the crease there, too. It was a sweaty day with the hat. The hat wasn't an oven. The light color helps. True to size, looks good, the coating should limit water intrusion.ADDED: Yes, I'd buy it again - three tries is, I guess buying it three times before finding the keeper. A tip of the hat and y'all have a fine day.

I really like this hat for the price
I really like this hat for the price...I actually had purchased and returned similar hats from Stetson and Reisitol. I didn't like the style as much of the Stetson and the Reisitol was bit tight (71/8 size) and they both were around $80-90 bucks. This hat is less than half the price, is every bit as good a straw hat and fits better; just doesn't have the name. I bought the buckle type leather headband from Amazon (I got the M&F one but Amazon offers numerous styles) in case wanted to upgrade it a bit, but found the band it comes with looks pretty good. Also, given I wanted to have the hat in my truck and anticipate tossing it about somewhat, didn't want throw away an $80+ hat vs 36.....and these straw hats are somewhat fragile, they can't be fixed if get crunched or crushed....they basically crack and crumble.....As such, I highly recommend this hat. One last point on this hat. As pictured, the hat shows grommet type eyelet vents on the crown, but the hat actually doesn't have eyelets; it has perferated design along the sides similar to Resistol hat but doesn't go all the way around, just on the sides where you see the eyelets in the picture......so I like that design upgrade to this hat as well....really good looking hat for the price.

Serviceable Hat
Your ad says the hat band is real leather but it does not look or feel like leather. But. the overall quality of this hat is good. The hat seems to run a tad large so you might consider a smaller size.

Bait and switch
This is not the hat I ordered in the picture. They did the old bait and switch on me. The Cowboy hat I ordered had three grommet holes on each side and the hat that they sent me did not. However it fit fine and it arrived quickly so I decided to just keep it since it was a cheap hat and I was only going to use for work. If you are looking for a cowboy hat for going out, I would suggest you go and try the hat on in person so you know exactly what you are buying

Nice for the price
This is a synthetic straw (paper) hat, but you would never know it. It shapes nicely if you steam it, and the more you wear it the better it fits if you get the correct size. I bought this one for my son to try cowboy hats. I also have one of these and have worn it for about 2 years now working around the property and it still looks pretty new. For the money it's a nice work or starter hat.

Good buy, looks sharp, risky packaging
The packaging is what you would expect for the price... simply a brown box with no internal supports or protection. Having said that, it looks amazing for the price. My son has never worn a western hat but when I presented him with this one, he loved it. fit as expected and a more expensive look than what you actually pay for it.
