Freak'n Amazing - Where has this thing been all my sailing life!
My Davis 4400 Scrubbis arrived yesterday. Thirty minutes later I was at the lake and my boat. Assembly was simple, although I did have to wrestle a bit with the PVC pin that locks the scrubber on the pole. No big deal. I put it to work immediately on my 34 foot sailboat and just started to laugh. It did an amazing job. The buoyancy and simple design of the scrubber does most of the work. Two times around the boat and the bottom was clean. If you have a sailboat, you will still need to dive on the keel and rudder, but still. This thing is a must have for any performance driven sailor. I can't recommend it enough.

Fantastic boat bottom cleaner
It exceeded my expectations. It seems easy to design yourself, yet, it is not. Buoyancy, the material, the length extension, the curve, all perfect and well thought for the bottom cleaning job. I completed bottom cleaning at the dock of a 32 feet sailboat in 15 minutes. Only area didn't reach is the keel. I will try next time. Great job.

Inexpensive okay alternate to annual pressure washings
I have used the Scrubbis once toward end of last season and a few weeks ago. My sailboat is on the Potomac River, so the Scrubbis is used mainly to remove slime and/or hydrilla strands from the hull bottom which over the course of a season will significantly slow a sailboat down. The Scrubbis, used under these freshwater conditions, works fairly well. It is not going to clean as well or as thoroughly as having a pressure wash but no one should expect that. However, it does significantly remove the bottom growth . That is evident with each underwater swipe with the Scrubbis hull head since you can see the removed growth rise to the surface. The unit comes with the hull cleaning unit which is basically a foam cylinder that has a foam swiping edge and a rubber sort of squeegee swiping edge. Optionally, you can also purchase the narrow waterline cleaning edge which I did not purchase or the Scrubbis Groovy brush which I did optionally purchase. The Scrubbis Groovy is for removing harder, more difficult hull debris since it has a more abrasive surface compared to the std hull cleaning unit that comes with the kit. However, I found that for freshwater use, the std Hull ๐งผ g unit was sufficient, so I have not used the Scrubbis Groovy. Also, the Scrubbis Groovy would probably degrade my ablative/copolymer multi-year bottom paint. The std hull cleaning unit/squeegee/foam cleaning edge believe also degrades the ablative paint surface If continually swiping over same hull surface......light/moderate use of the cleaning head seems to be okay for the bottom ablative paint.

Awful design
The sponge attachment has nothing keeping it attached to the pole. You just push the pole into a hole. Maybe this workโs somewhere but following the directions attempts to use this from the boat or from a dinghy only resulted in the sponge coming detached and floating under the hull. Had to use an oar from a dinghy to find it and guide it out from under. Disappointed from a company from Davis. And they will not let you return it even though the ads says itโs returnable. Amazon was zero help and their response to a difficult issue was to hang up on me twice. So equally disappointing. ALERT: after spending 1.5 hours trying to get approval to return this item, sending it USOS 5 day ground, the cost of shipping is MORE than what I paid for it including tax so sending it back isnโt an option.

Works well on my lake boat!
This product worked great to remove the lake-scum from the bottom of my 21 foot wakeboard boat. The floatation of the head provides good adhesion of the cleaning head to the bottom of the boat. The curved section of the pole helps get much farther under the boat than just a straight pole. Prior to using this device, I was using a brush on a straight pole and, while the brush cleaned slightly better, the brush and straight pole required me to get in the water to clean the very bottom of the boat - with this product I was able to clean the entire bottom of the boat while staying dry! I would recommend this product to those who want to remove light scum and algae from their boat, but not for heavy duty cleaning of saltwater vessels.

Works well if at a dock
Too bad this is now unavailable because it worked for me way better than expected. It was a great idea to use the buoyancy of the thing to apply pressure under the hull. I would recommend for boats under 30' and I think you have to be at a dock with at least a foot between hull and dock. Also you can't force it as it is not real robust. Gently get it under the hull and use the natural buoyancy.

A must have maintenance tool!
I purchased this for my 38ft sailboat. I meticulously maintain and clean it regularly since its kept in the water most of the year. I sail at least once a week so my hull doesn't get heavy growth but it removes the soft growth and sum lines and grass like growth wonderfully. With regular use after 6 months my diver was doing a zinc replacement check and commented how amazingly clean my hull was compared to the other sailboats on my dock. It definitely is a worthwhile tool to have to maintain the hulls condition between yearly haul outs! If I had a half a dozen I could sell them to the other sailors in my club. A great affordable product that works and continuously saves you money on maintenance!!
