25-foot reel system
The reviews by other customers said that it bowed in the middle. I purchased the longer 25 foot reel system and let the poles overlap a little more. No bowing! Didn't even try the tape. I used the tape to position the straps on the roller and used stainless sheet metal screws with stainless washers to hold the straps to the reel system. No problem... The crank arm wobbles (I roll slowly ). I would suggest another washer on the reel system and a heaver bolt to lock it in. When rolling the cover onto the reel system make sure that both ends of the reel system are parallel or the cover will "walk" on the reel. I kept the straps on the long side because I am using it on the diving board side. I spaced the straps a little to the side of the diving board and placed the reel system just in front of the board. After it is rolled up I lift the end up and over the board and use the wheels to move it off the pool deck

Good at shorter pool widths. 20' is a stretch and contributes to early parts failure
Used with a 20x40 1200 series solar cover - should be able to handle this load, but strains and bends under the pressure. Screws fall out and into the pool. It's a goo first solution, if you're trying to figure out pool solar covers. You'll get a good 3 seasons out of it. I'm going to upgrade to something more substantial when I get a replacement solar cover. Also be sure to pick up a spare handle $20 for this - it broke in our first year. The replacement handle appears beefier than the original. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CEJ0Z9K (Sun2Solar Replacement Crank Handle for Stainless Steel Solar Reel for Above Ground or Inground Swimming Pools | Black)

Poor warranty experience
Worked well for a month or two. Then hand crank broke and the only offered solution was for me to buy replacement parts. Not durable enough for any sizable pool.

Easy to use.
Great reel. Makes getting in the pool easy. Only downside, is you must start the rolling process with two people .. or it wont pull it tight enough. Not interested in putting holes I n my solar cover to attach it

Good price, some modifications needed (velcro straps)
The instructions aren't great but you get the idea on how to assemble. Also, like other reviews here said, the velcro which holds the straps to the pole are pretty much useless. First heavy rainfall we got 4 of them came right off. You can easily fix this by getting some metal tapping screws. It could have been the weight of the cover (straps were adjusted too short) but nevertheless unacceptable. I have a 20x40 pool cover and the reel does sag in the middle when rolled up. Compared to my other reel it did not sag as much and probably made of stronger material. For the cost, overall you get what you pay for I guess. Let's just hope it lasts longer than the pool cover!

Good stuff.
I put this reel to the test for the first time today…after some strap adjustments, this reel worked just great. I would recommend. Reels in nicely, rolls out of the way easily, and clear instructions…go for it. VJM

Cheap material
We have a 20x40 in-ground pool. Cons: cheap material. Metal tube split 1st week of use (see picture). Plastic handle for turning is attached with 1 screw and bends while turning, highly doubt it would last a season. Straps that come with the reel attach by sticky tape! How they expect that to work, no clue. Again, one week of use and one strap has already unglued. I have reached out to the mfr to see how they will resolve this. I will update my post if they do. Pro (and the only reason I gave it 2 stars) Easy to roll with just one person and easy to move with one person. But obviously I would never buy it again b/c it just didn't hold up.

Good value
Read other reviews about the product and difficult instructions. Didn’t see a problem with either. I use it to hold a 12 ft cover and it works great. Doesn’t sag and easy to assemble. Instructions are mostly pictures so if you’re not mechanically inclined they may seem not clear. Got a 12mil cover from the same company via Amazon
