913A481 Trutrac Differential with 30 Spline for GM 8.5/8.6", 10 Bolt Rear End

The media could not be loaded. Absolutely fantastic differential, I previously had a g80 locker, and well, it did what they usually do when you put power to it. The old diff grenaded and my spider gears gave out just like the one before that. I was able to install the new detroit locker trutrac in about 6 hours, really straightforward to do it all. So far this didd has been a beast, i just let it rip and it just takes it with no issues. I hope i have a long life with this diff. It works exactly as designed, not to mention it weighs like 5 or 6 pounds more than the old carrier. More bang for your buck.

I know, the picture doesn't exactly show the diff. Just the cover. My G80 wasn't bad but also it wasn't good. I severely disliked how one axle had to spin at least 100 rpm faster for the other one to lock up. Made for a very annoying bang when it came in. I didn't want this diff but the true Detroit Locker wasn't available for my truck. 2000 half ton Silverado Z71. Did the complete job, bearings, seals, and a nice new cover. I'm pretty happy with the results. excellent traction without the annoying bark.

As everyone has stated, the G80 sucks. This differential is amazing. One note to anyone who may read this, my diff was literally acting like a locked diff. I called Detroit. They said “you need to us Lucas HD gear oil” they also stated, “ we can’t state that certain oil manufacturers won’t work”. These are Detroit’s tech assist words. I’ve been too lazy to change out the gear oil and it only “acted up” for a few days. I own a 2004 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3. I absolutely love this diff!!

it fit my 2006 gmc 8.5 differential , along with the master overhaul kit . if u are doing this by yourself good luck lol . took me at least a week with some trips to the auto store for speciality tools . what u need are magnetic dial indicator , and dial caliper and a bearing puller , and youtube how-to's lol or if u got the cash take it to a shop and get rid of the headaches and pass it on to someone else who is paid to have those headaches .

This diff is amazing. The abuse it gets in these mountain passes are extreme but it just keeps going. Hands down the best diff ive ever purchased.

wasted time and money now my truck is stuck on jacks

Great replacment for GM trucks , no problems cornering on dry pavement and always locks when its supposed to . Anybody considering rebuilding their differentials this is by far your best choise . I love it and glad I went with Detroit locker
