Stigan Turbo Turbocharger For Mini Cooper John Cooper Works JCW 2009 2010 2011 2012 - Stigan 847-1549 New

This turbo was added to a stage 2 tune upgrade and replaced the 847-1101 turbo. The extra power with all the other induction and exhaust upgrades is pleasantly noticeable. This unit was a direct replacement in a non-JCW Turbo N14 MINI engine, requiring no modifications. A new flex oil line was heat wrapped to prevent oil from coking and starving the turbo seal. The turbo gets a few degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the stock for non-JCW, so a turbo blanket and heat shield were installed and the downpipe was wrapped. Will update after the 1800-mile summer trip. UPDATE: the turbo is still performing strongly after 1800 mile summer trip into the hot southern US.

I needed to replace my old turbocharger on my Mini Cooper Clubman after the wastegate shaft had worn. The Stigan unit arrived quickly and appears solidly built and well made. It bolted right up from where the old one was removed and showed an immediate improvement in performance from my worn out stocker. The only details I might mention is that referencing the wastegate adjustment off of the length of the actuator rod it appeared off by about 5mm. Checking again by applying a vacuum source to the actuator, the throw of the lever was in spec. Double check all specifications and adjustments at the business end before installing. That's why the actuator rod is adjustable. The only other minor quibble is that the oil drain could have used a bit more chamfer around the edge of the socket hole. Fitting the O-ring and plug was very challenging compared to other similar setups I've worked with before.
