A nutrition and fitness expert shares an effective, no-fuss way to lose weight—and keep the pounds off—through a diet rich in anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs Estrogenic chemicals—known for causing the near extinction of various living species—are found in some of the most common foods we eat. In this revolutionary diet book, Ori Hofmekler addresses the millions of overweight and obese individuals who have failed or are disappointed with other diets—those who suffer from yoyo dieting, weight gain rebounds, or accumulation of stubborn fat in the belly and other estrogen-sensitive areas. He shows you how to: • Lower your risk of metabolic disorders, disease, and chronic weight gain • Protect yourself against the estrogenic substances in the environment, products, water, and food • Pick foods and herbs that can protect you Focusing on our current over-exposure to estrogenic chemicals in the environment, foods, and water, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet provides a practical solution to fat gain, estrogen-related disorders (PMS, endometriosis, fibrocystic disease), and increased risk of common cancers in women and men (breast, ovarian, cervical, prostate). Allowing you to still enjoy your favorite foods, the program is based on incorporating anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs into your diet, while eliminating estrogenic foods and chemicals. Exposing dietary myths and fallacies, Hofmekler teaches readers that some foods commonly regarded as “healthy” may actually be harmful and vice versa. Special chapters dedicated to readers with different needs and health conditions, recipes, a question-and-answer section, and a list of scientific references are also included in this valuable resource. Review: Life Changing: Helps Control My Seizures - This book and Ori Hofmekler's EstroX product have been life changing for me. The information has changed the way I live, from the food I put in my body to the substances I put on my body. The ingredients in EstroX have a *profound* effect on my catamenial seizures and overall quality of life (not to mention PMS and other issues). For me, it's the difference between being able to function vs being bedridden and dependent on others. I feel so lucky to have found this very powerful information. I only wish more people knew about it. Thank you, Ori Hofmekler, for changing my life! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm sure your mother would have been proud to see the positive difference you've made in the lives of people like me. :) Review: A good cleansing and diet tool - I use concepts from Ori Hofmeklers books in combanation with "PACE" by Dr Al Sears, "Eat Right For Your Type" by Dr D'Adamo and "The Edge Effect" by Dr Eric Braverman. Some of his Ideas seem unorthidox but are actually very old, while the diet at the time had a different name, my grandfather basicly used the same program with only slight veriations and was able to keep the body of a 20yld until age 59 (died of asbestus induced lung cancer). He came across this similer program as a teenager in mexico. My mother (now 58) was able to keep a six pack until her eighth child and is still able to lift far more and is far healthier than your average 30yld; and I have fallowed in their foot steps using the same program with similer results. So while this, "The Anti-estrogenic Diet", or his other books: "The Worrior Diet" and "Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat" are not the end all, be all of diet and nutrition, I can say from the perspective of three generations that, at least for those with a similer genetic make-up, that it does work and can be made even more effective with any addition that further customizes its process to your individual needs with Hofmeclers dietary methods acting as a base. As for anti-estrogen, with the advent of the soy bean as "the ultimate super food" that the health food industry and government has labeled it (In 1920 soy milk was rejected as a bonding meterial for cardboard as the FDA feared that children might play with the boxes - The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food ) estrogen and the resulting diseases cuased by excess estrogen have become pandemic. This along high exposure to other environmental toxins has become an incredable burden on our livers. Hofmeklers book not only addresses estrogen inthe diet but also liver detox and food sensitivity, even if his advice to eliminate estrogen from the diet were to be ignored the remaining 2/3 of his method would still have an incredably high impact on resolving any health issues.

A good cleansing and diet tool
I use concepts from Ori Hofmeklers books in combanation with "PACE" by Dr Al Sears, "Eat Right For Your Type" by Dr D'Adamo and "The Edge Effect" by Dr Eric Braverman. Some of his Ideas seem unorthidox but are actually very old, while the diet at the time had a different name, my grandfather basicly used the same program with only slight veriations and was able to keep the body of a 20yld until age 59 (died of asbestus induced lung cancer). Good information, questions unanswered and could be better organized though
The information in the book is good and I have many takeaways which I plan to use in mine and my family's nutritional strategy. Author touches on a lot of other ways that one can be exposed to contaminates that may lead to the overabundance of estrogen in the body but doesn't elaborate enough on how to avoid those. A section on this would have been nice to see; for example the fact that almost all canned food products use a lining that includes Bisphenol A. Also have to agree that the organization could be a little better. One suggestion is a listing of all of the different food types associated with each phase of his diet in one place. I had to scan the book to create a list of these myself. I don't plan to implement his diet exactly right now but am implementing a lot of things to see about results which may lead me to reconsider following his to a "T" so I can get even better results.

Maybe for Men
I would suggest you don't read this book if you are pre or post menopausal. I think the ideas and suggestions may actually cause greater problems for you while your hormones are all over the place. That is, unless you are one of the TESTED estrogen dominant women who is also proven to be hormone cancer prone. This might be a good read for middle aged men, especially those who are rotund with significant muscle loss. Generally speaking, they may have inadvertently turned their bodies into estrogen producing factories. Men with major moobs and apparent pregnancies may have also developed an accompanying impotence and could be very disturbed by this instead of merely turning to viagra. Such men could be helped immensely by this guide. On the other hand, some men are more pleasant, thoughtful and gentle to be around because of the estrogen factories they have created in their own bodies through indulgent eating and no exercise. Now, just how many wives would actually complain about that?

Best concept out there
Following this plan and the "Warrior Diet" is best dietary approach I've ever run across. I only have one criticism and words of warning. You get a sense while reading it that it was put together over a weekend; however, that doesn't diminish from the value. The warning is that he lists rice germ and wheat germ among the food items both of which are virtually impossible to procure on a rancid free basis. Also I absolutely don't agree with the use of probiotics which there is absolutely no need for if you follow the plan and whose use can be dangerous for certain individuals with certain conditions(ie: blood disorders) and whose use in certain situations(ie: during the treatment of infections and other general drug interaction considerations) can also be very risky.

Great Read!
I've read three of Ori Hofmekler's books and I probably would not have read this one except it intrigued me and I enjoyed the other two. Gave me something to think about (and, no, it's not written for women). His approach smacks contrary to what others teach about fitness, but it works. I am 69 years old and have worked out most of my life. But, the advancing age caused me some challenges e.g. fat gain and loss resulting from refined carbs in my diet, and they seemed to have been resolved by Ori's protocol because it is working.

Important book, with a bit of information that may not be correct
No doubt, estrogen dominance is an important health concern and this author deserves thanks for writing a book on this topic. Some good information in this book includes that many low carb protein bars are made with soy products or whey protein isolate (sourced from pregnant cows) and both have a high estrogen content. Information that is not correct includes that Flax and Beans are recommended dietary staples in this book, and in fact, they are very high in estrogen. Not mentioned is that sesame seeds and sunflower seeds are reportedly among the highest estrogen foods. The author begins the book by saying he is in excellent health and does not work at his diet (snacks in front of the tv, etc.) yet he is in excellent health. Well, by the end of the book, I thought this was one of the most complicated diets I have ever read. Sadly, it needs to be. Estrogen makes animals (and people) fat or is directly related to cancer. We need to know what foods have estrogen in them, but there is no labeling standard for this. Books like this help us understand the problem, but the solution is a much more complex.(I upgraded my original review from 3 stars to 4 stars having heeded the author's advice to add a daily potassium supplement, which I found useful)

An eye opener
Very eye opening. This book shows you what's really in or foods these days. The simple way it was written is easy to understand and apply.

Not only healthy but also tasty
I like not only this book's principles, but also the creativity and tastiness of the (few) recipes. It's the kind of food I enjoy, so if it can make me healthier: even better! I find the recommendations and recipes more appealing than those of "The Warrior Diet", also by Ori Hofmeker.

Wunderbar!
