Will this work in a dvd player?

I think it will as long as it has a headphone jack socket, it works on my iPhone and iPod, I'm really pleased with it, looks well made and goes up pretty loud

Will this also work with an old-fashioned CD walkman type player?

As long as it has a headphone port for you to plug it into, it should work. The only tincy issue with this speaker is that when you plug it in to the device you tend to have to balance the speaker bit off the edge of the table because of the hight difference between the of the speaker and the device but this isn't a major problem with a phone at least, although i don't know how it would affect a CD walkman. Otherwises it's an excellent speaker and I really recomend it.

Does it have volume control?

There is no volume control on the speaker. You have to use the volume control of the evidence you attach it to.

Hi does this work on laptops?

I'm afraid I don't have a lap-top - but I have used it with my iPad - also with iPods and MP3 players and it works well with all of them - so see no reason why it shouldn't work with a lap-top!
