Out of date product
I love this brand and frequently buy their other different teas (Genmai cha, roasted green tea) as well as their regular matcha green tea. However bought from seller “Tokyo VanCo” and the box was out of date (Feb 2024)-I ordered this in March 2024. Contacted Amazon via online chat-have been told I should get refund but no email from them to confirm this yet…

NYLON Tea Bags that leach micro and nano plastics and are not recyclable or biodegradable.
I have to give this three stars unfortunately. It is undoubtedly a delicious and good value Matcha green tea. Full marks for taste. However what’s deeply unfortunate is that the manufacturer has decided to put the tea into NYLON TEA BAGS.Three HUGE problems with this.1) The seller has not clearly stated in English ON THE BOX that the bags are nylon. The box is almost entirely in Japanese2) Pyramid nylon tea bags leach a significant amount of microplastics and nanoplastics when exposed to hot water. Studies show that placing these bags in water at or near boiling temperature (95°C) can release billions of particles into a single cup of tea.3). Nylon is not compostable nor recyclable in the UK. It is a synthetic, petroleum-based plastic that does not biodegrade, meaning it persists in landfills for 30–40 years or longer.Nylon breaks down into microplastics rather than organic matter, making it unsuitable for composting and a source of environmental pollutionNylon is essentially plastic and does not break down in home or industrial compost systems. It has a serious environmental Impact: It releases microplastics into the environment and is a significant source of ocean pollution. It’s a persistent pollutant : Nylon fabric typically takes decades to decompose, surviving for 30–40 years. It does not turn into compost; it only breaks down into smaller, harmful synthetic fragments.I would urge people to NOT buy this product until the manufacturer starts using paper or biodegradable tea bags.I would urge the manufacturer to change their tea bags as soon as possible.
