Efficient!
Wonderful device. Came shipped with batteries. At first I thought it was broken but the batteries in the back were covered in plastic as to not waste them (good thinking). Once i got it turned on, I placed a U.S. Nickel on it to see if it would register as 5g's, and it did! I bought this for a little over 3 dollars, and with shipping, it came out to 8 bucks from EZ Sell. Pros: - Cover/Tray - Lightweight - Compact - Accurate - Inexpensive (very, as far as these things go) - AAA batteries (easier to change) Cons: - Cheaper design than most scales - May break if dropped onto a hard surface - too small for some people's taste, but I love it If you need a scale that works, doesn't cost a lot, and gets the job done right, BUY THIS! If you're looking for a more professional, larger scale, look somwhere else All in All I recommend it!

quick, easy, accurate, no-frills
I use this to measure smaller ingredients (yeast, salt, etc.) for bread. (In fact, if making a very small batch of bread, I use it to measure _all_ the ingredients.) The 0.1 gram resolution works fine for smaller ingredients, and it's better than a "digital spoon" because I can set it down on the counter rather than having to hold it in my hand. I've been fairly careful not to drop it or overload it (it's pretty easy not to put more than 500 grams on it as larger loads just won't fit). So I don't know how "sturdy" it is. It's fast and easy, and seems very accurate-- I'm used to after "sneaking up" on a measurement lifting the bowl off the scale and putting it back and seeing a different reading, but with this scale the reading is usually the same! Get this one, not very similarly named items either MISbundled with the wrong calibration weight or at well over twice the price. Use is quite sensible ...but not always well documented (and sometimes different than what the documentation says). When shipped new, batteries are wrapped in insulating tough cellophane so they won't go dead; you HAVE to take the batteries out and remove the clear cellophane from them and put them back before first use. Blue backlight flickering off much of the time means simply batteries are getting low. Display of nonsensical information and/or refusal to operate normally often mean simply that batteries need replacing. (Don't assume scale is "broken" without first trying new batteries:-) Batteries can get low and die without the scale ever displaying the "LO" the user's guide says will appear. Unit easily switches units to any of a) grams, b) ounces, c) pennyweights, or d) troy ounces, and remembers what you want even across power cycles until you change it again.

simple and effective
picked up this item to be able to weigh small amounts of precious metals should i need to work a trade or make a purchase. I didn't want to bust the bank given that it would see little use,but did need a product which could be depended on. This fast weigh scale is the perfect compromise. Great price, small and compact (size of a cigarette case), and seems accurate. I weighed a few rings and bits and the scale seemed accurate. It does need to be zeroed. I allowed it to shut off and double checked weights which all seem consistent in reading. I have used a larger kitchen scale for measuring vitamins and stuff, which worked but was cumbersome for the minute quantities. This works better. I will keep this scale in my emergency supplies in the event that a bartering system should replace paper currency, but given the low probability of that occurring it will also double as my desk toy plaything and occasional vitamin weigher companion.

Was surprised when I saw it...
First of all, after retrieving the mail, I noticed a small package, I got really excited and though it was my 20mW green laser, but it was actually this scale. It was 100x smaller than i thought it would be! When they say "pocket scale", they mean it! This thing is smaller than my wallet, but a little bit thicker. Gets the job done for me, weighing out chemicals for backyard pyrotechnics and the like. Pros: + 500g capacity, with .1 resolution, aka: 35.7g as an example reading, but also has oz, dwt, and ozt modes. + tray that doubles as cover to keep dust out + tare/zero and calibration functions + small! fits just about anywhere + bright backlight and easy to read numbers + simple to operate, ready to go right out of the box with included batteries! + 2 AAA batteries, not those rare button types! + black color and fairly easy to clean + made of plastic, nice and light + gets the job done! Cons: - its very small size might make it hard to weigh bigger containers/items [but im sure you could figure a way around this, something flat, tare/zero function...] - someone else pointed out the scale auto-powers down after a short delay, which can happen while you mentally calculate how much more you need to add. - a super slight deviation at times, such as: 45.3g then after several seconds shows 45.4/45.2g and then goes back to 45.3g. [so if you need absolutely precise measurements, you need to go look for a professional scale], this is a non-issue for me, one decimal precision is much better than +/- 2 whole grams... - it is made of plastic, so dont expect to drop it off a table multiple times and have it be accurate, but the price makes it a no brainer to just buy a new one All in all, this is an awesome deal! I am very tempted to buy 2 or 3 more if I find some money...HDE was very quick, 3 whole days before the expected delivery time, and received the exact product as advertised. Its the performance you would expect from a product 3-5x the price [yes including shipping]. If you need a very small portable scale that works, look no further!
