Didn't know which decibel reader to get so I took a leap of faith on this one and was glad I did. Right out of the box, it was easy to use (without reading instructions) and reading seems to be accurate and sensitive. Would recommend for the price

Does what I need it to do. A little slow at picking up noises right away. Overall, pretty good.

This has a quality feel and has great functions such as Max and Min decibel levels; realtime decibel levels; hold (freezes the last realtime decibel level it read); temperature (both F and C); and backlight. Takes 3 AAA batteries.

Does not function as advertised: Printed my return label within an hour of receiving. - Does not measure "Sones" - Does not measure humidity % - Does not have auto power-off - Does not have back-light.

Note that even though the description says "Measurement Unit: dBA / dBC", this SPL meter can only measure dBA. I returned it immediately.

I needed and wanted to measure generator sound levels. My neighbor used his cell phone and he barely knows where the microphone is on the phone! So, to do it right, i wanted a low cost and simple reader than gives min/max and immediate data. This one is perfect. I want to take it now to places that claim they don't place music too loud (church, restuarant, neighbors, sport games). We don't realize that we are constantly around loud noise and people that make the noise don't care. Need some data. Enjoy.
