Great product, can be used in outdoor applications
Great product, can be used in outdoor applications. Very well made. Very heavy duty. Meets all OSHA requirements for construction sites. 12 gauge STW rated cord. Great to protect yourself when a power tool becomes defective, or the power cord gets cut, dampness, etc, etc. Works much faster than a normal circuit breaker. A GFCI is one of the best ways to protect yourself from electrical shock. It's not a perfect solution to prevent electrical shock but it is pretty close to perfect. Can plug 3 tools or 3 cords into the outlet end. Has indicator light made into outlet end so you can quickly tell when power is present. Rated for 20 amps.

GFCI starts tripped and not 20A
It is not 20A! The product clearly states it's 15A. A very annoying "feature" is that the default state is off. I'll explain... Pretend you have this plugged into a generator and you start the generator, you'd expect power to flow through the cable unless the GFCI is tripped. Not so with this product, the GFCI starts in a "tripped" state and you must hit the reset button EVERY TIME to enable power flow. Very annoying if you use it with a generator.

actual 20 amp GFCI with regular plugs
This is a heavy duty GFCI pigtail. It is made with 12 gauge wire, and the package actually states it is rated at 20 amps, but with a regular NEMA 5-15 plug. Well made.

Value for money
After you turn the power off on the outlet it's connected to, the next time you want to turn it on, you need to go to the device and reset/ toggle the power on the device after turning the power on to the outlet. Maybe that's how is intended to work. But i was using to connect Christmas lights at a corner of my yard and it was inconvenient when I had to do this every evening. Seems well made.

It Does Work
I use this only for my Manatee clothes Dryer 120v/1700 watts. The cord does not get hot at all, the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. I like to take precautions before a problem happens.

Not Auto-Reset
I ordered this GFCI plug specifically because it was labelled as having Automatic Reset functionality which would allow it to reset when plugged in or after power loss. This unit does NOT have this functionality and was confirmed to lack Auto Reset by the manufacturer. If you are looking for an automatic reset GFCI adapter, look elsewhere. Additionally, the wire is extremely thick and hard to bend.
