Yes but don’t sand too finely before applying. It will inhibit absorption.

It says it takes up to 4 weeks to fully dry can you use it after the initial wipe after 24 - 48 hours or do you still need to wait a couple days?

I no longer will use this product because it does indeed take forever to dry. I missed that fact when I purchased it. You have many other choices with very good results that will dry much faster. Even regular tongue oil dries faster that this.

Is the curing exothermic, do I need to worry about rags catching fire?

The above answer is incorrect. Any “drying oil” releases heat as it cures, due to the nature of polymerization. You must be very cautious discarding the used rags in order to minimize the risk of fire. Again, this holds true for anything that is oil-based, and which cures or hardens over time through exposure to oxygen.
