Aquatic Freshwater Snail Food Mix #2 with Calcium- Snail,Shrimp & Crayfish Food (2oz)- A2

This is my go-to snail food for my mysteries. I have five currently and the bag lasts a couple of months (they eat fish food that floats to the bottom of the tank and probably some algae). They make a bee line to them when I drop them in the tank. It is a small bag but I am not sure I would want anything larger given the time it takes to get through. The price is fine with me. I don't know if the food itself is the reason (I suspect it is a fairly good amount of the reason) but of my five, three are now pushing three years old- which is the longest I've had any snail before them for.

My mystery, bladder, and ramshorns snails FLOCK to this food whenever I provide it. I've been buying/feeding this for a few years now. Combined with adding calcium in the water, my snails grow much healthier now with very few shell problems.

I've been feeding this food for about a month now, mixed into the other foods that I rotate through, and the improvement has been noticeable. It definitely seems to promote good growth in my mystery snails, and they all really enjoy the mix. It takes top spot for most quickly eaten by mystery, ramshorn and rabbit snails, and I believe I will increase the times this food comes into rotation. The pellets do dissolve a little quickly, but I find this to be beneficial because I have fancy shrimp in every tank I keep snails in. The shrimp love it, and the spreading of the pellets helps to allow every shrimp to get to the food even if some of them try to hog it to themselves. Makes it easier for smaller shrimp to get their fair share, so everyone gets enough. The grow lines on my mysteries show improved shell development and depth of color, and I really believe it is this food. I hope it remains available for the foreseeable future, I have six tanks to feed! I've included a couple of pictures of actual feeding action about 5-10 minutes after the pellets were dropped in.

Good snail food. Unfortunately all our snails died. But we think it had to do with the calcium levels.

I've purchased several different brands/types of food for my mystery snails. I feed them using a glass tube and dish so I can see what gets eaten and what falls apart. This one is the best! Usually gets eaten right away but what doesn't get quickly eaten stays mostly solid and doesn't turn into dust like other brands. Corys like it too, but the fish leave it alone mostly. I've noticed when I feed them this they don't clean the algae as much, so I just turn down my lights for a few days, I'd rather have low light (or clean glass more often) and give them this because I know they love it. They go right to the dish when hungry and I swear they are more active, are laying eggs more often, and have GROWN SO MUCH since starting this food!

My mystery snail loves this, but I think my moonlight gourami loves it more. She immediately attacks it and breaks off pieces as soon as I put them in the tank.

Beyond upset. Less than a week after ordering this product and reading outstanding reviews I have had two snails (each in a separate tank) pass away. These were previously healthy and active snails. I am absolutely terrified of losing any of my other snails now. The food has been the only new change so I find it highly suspicious that two very healthy, active mystery snails in completely separate aquariums died less than a week after starting this food. I cannot 100% say for certain that is what happened but I find it highly suspicious.

I now consider this a must-have if you love mystery snails like I do. My snails straight up were not getting enough calcium. My gold mystery snails, not pictured, were getting sluggish and stuck upside down. My newer, younger, blue snails had some minor shell damage from their trip to my home. You can really see the major growth on their shells in just over a week of feeding this food. The gold ones have really turned around too! Already showing shell growth and not stuck upside down. Acting much more “mystery snail-y” and chugging along and jumping off of things. I only didn’t picture the golds because the growth is hard to see compared to the little blues. I included a video of two of the blues racing to the food I just dropped in, so you know they like it. It can be considered on the pricier side BUT for healthy snails I find it entirely worth it. Plus, the snails don’t need much per day! I only drop in a few pellets about 5 times a week, and will likely drop that amount a little if I find the food being eaten more by the tiny ramshorns than the mysteries. Don’t over feed! It will cloud up your water fast if you drop in a ton at once. If you’re worried about snail explosion, keep the dosage very small at one time and keep an eye on it. Mystery snails are much easier to cull as eggs than “pest” snails so you want to make sure they’re getting most of it.
