Over-the-Calf Tube 180/6

These socks are super thin, and improperly sized! I wear a size 12 (2E) shoe. These socks do not even go halfway up my calves and I am not a tall person (5'10") with thick hobbit legs. They are not too tight for my legs, its just that my feet are large enough there is not enough length in the leg of the sock for it to extend as far as it is supposed to. If you want an over the calf sock and have a large foot and thick legs, DO NOT buy these!

I have purchased these socks over the past 10+ years because (before now), they were very comfortable, soft, and lasted a long time. This is no longer the case. Similar to the Hanes briefs, Hanes has now reduced quality on these socks (can see my other review on Hanes Comfort Soft briefs).Hanes is clearly trying to cut corners while the price seems to stay the same. I don't mind paying extra if they keep the quality, but they do not. These socks are now much thinner and using a material that feels "scratchy." Again, they did the same with the Hanes briefs.In my estimate, these socks now have 1/2 the thickness in material than they used to...and so I estimate that holes will appear very quickly. This combined with the uncomfortable material earns a max of 2 stars. I will no longer buy these particular Hanes socks, I am sorry to say.

These are the socks my husband always buys in the store. Less expensive here on Amazon. Washed them as soon as we got them. No shrinkage or excessive lint. Seem the same except out of the six pair of socks, one sock was much longer than the others going up the calf. I figure it's either a fluke or they might be seconds. In any event my husband said "no big deal for just one sock....who's going to see it anyway"....lol. I will buy them again.

Lydia W. Angell who Published on June 23, 2009 - why did you purchase the size 6-12? When you click on the size chart, it clearly says that there is a size 12-14. This is the size you should have purchased. Maybe Amazon doesn't sell the size 12-14, but other stores do and maybe it would have been in your best interest to go to the store to see. The 1st thing I see is that size 6-12 is extremely broad so common sense says there is no way it will be over the calf for all sizes.I have the same thing to say to Fredericke Hans Mendenhall on February 9, 2009, Kevin C. Cullen on January 31, 2011, and all who said these are the worst socks. Kevin you specified you were a size 12, then you should have purchased 12-14! Common sense people!

These socks are comfortable and fit well being tube socks. The problem is the wear in them that has forced me to throw out several socks already. My feet are not baby soft, but also not crusty hard either. Yet these socks, after a few wears and washes, got several holes in the heel and I had to throw several of the socks away. I won't buy these again. Disappointing for Hanes name and the cost.

It used to be easy to find over-the-calf socks in the local stores, but no more, at least for us. I bought some at our local farm store thinking surely farmers would demand good quality socks... my husband couldn't get the tops past his ankle, and he's not a big man. I know some Hanes items seem to be getting thinner, but he is very happy with these socks and they're just the right thickness and length for his purposes, which is wearing under his Ugg boots, which have stiff shearling lined tops, to prevent chafing of his calves.

These socks kept sliding down the first day they were worn. They're not worth buying.

I purchased these for my hubby and he loves them so much that he said order me another :). he likes the way they are thick, and go up the calf, and the reinforcement toe is a bonus!. Thankyou Amazon.
