Presch Tape Measure 5m - Robust & Professional - with Stable Metal Belt Clamp, Metric Only and Retractable Measurement tape

This little tape measure is very robust and has a premium feel to it. It has an auto lock function so you hold the button in to release the tape and hold it in to retract the tape. I had never heard of this company before but thought I would give it a try due to the positive reviews on Amazon. I have taken some photos so that you can have a closer look and I would recommend you to try this tape measure out. I will definitely keep this company in mind when shopping for other items.

This is a very nice to use rule. It sits head and shoulders above the average tapes which are widely available a little cheaper. The differences are all in the detail. The lock mechanism is very good to use, just pull out the tape, let go and it stays out. Then to retract just push the button and it smoothly retracts at a sensible speed. It has clear markings and a good end stock secured with 3 rivets.

I like Stanley but went for something different. This has two unusual features, a metric only tape and automatic locking. I particularly wanted the metric only tape. Having the same measurements on both sides is great. The automatic locking being different is taking time to get used to. Haven't decided the merits yet. The case is plastic with a thin rubber overlay in places. Not convinced it is as robust as claimed as it is a bit heaver than el-cheapo 3m tapes. Its also more comfortable to hold than the el-cheapos.

Easy to read the meadurements, takes a wile to gwt used to the fact it stays extended until you press the button rather than the usual press to lock out

I love the mm only scale on both edges which is why I bought it. I don't like that the base is not perfectly flat so it often falls over when I would like it to stand. I also don't like that it looks very similar in shape to some much cheaper measures but of course they don't come in mm only markings.

Why did I buy this rule?, because I wanted a metric only 5M rule, I could have have Metric/Imperial in the same product. Presch have reversed the most common operation of the lock to always on, having used it on a real project, I can say that this really works for me, which came as a surprise in the first instance. This rule was my fifth purchase of a Presch tool, I have been impressed each time by the quality and the small innovations found on each of the tools. I particularly rate their drill bits, and as a life long Stanley tools user, I now rate Presch higher.

I use tape measures on a daily basis for nearly 40 years. This tape is not accurate. Ove 50mm it is 3mm out. I have compared it to several tapes. The tape itself is flimsy, no good for outdoor use.

Das Bandmass ist perfekt. Kompakt, gute Griffigkeit, Skala mit grossen Zahlen sehr gut lesbar, auch mit schlechteren Augen, gute Feststelltaste und leichter, einwandfreier Wiedereinzug. Wir benutzen es sehr häufig beim Boulespiel, um die Abstände der Kugeln zu messen. Dabei leiht man es auch mal jemand anderen und alle, die damit gemessen haben, fanden es gut.

After I used it a few time the locking meganism does not work correct any more. Would not buy this. Poor quality product
