Yes it can be used for cannabis, It won't be enough nutrients on its own tho. Get some good quality earthworm castings also

With coco medium, I top dress every 3 weeks and have great results.

Do dogs and other animals have an attraction to ut?

Yes, dogs are attracted to it, but I dig it into the first 2 inches of the soil and then mulch with 3 inches of cedar mulch. Animals only disturb areas where it is spilled on top of bare soil.
