Can i use a brush to apply it? i'm worried about lint from rags. the brush on poly says it is fast drying and i don't want it drying before i'm done.

Wipe On Poly is designed to eliminate brush application. I use a small square of old tee shirt gathered around several cotton balls and tied with a twist tie. Wear a nitrile glove and hold the "daubber" in your had, dip it into a small qty. of the poly and proceed to wipe the surface. Watch the reflection on the surface as you apply the poly to ensure complete coverage. Allow to dry. Lightly sand with 320 grit and reapply. Repeat until you have the desired result.

What is the difference between the satin and the gloss and which is better for redoing a farmhouse dining set that will be stained a dark walnut?

It’s a matter of your choice of shininess. Both give a beautiful finish. The gloss will provide a harder more durable finish due to absence of the additives that dull the sheen by affecting light refraction. Finish will be dry to the touch within 45 minutes but Not fully cured for 24 hours. You can apply up to 2 more coats if desired. If so, apply additional coats 6-8 hours apart. You can wait longer but will need to scuff sand the top finish to ensure adhesion.

Can this be used over oil based paint

Yes it can be used over just about any finish as long as its clean and oil free before application,,, use 2 or 3 light coats to cover

Why does the quart (2 pints) cost more than 2 individual pints? Shouldn't be the other way around? Just wondering.
