Great book
for anyone owned by and African Grey nor any other hook bill. This book is full of great information which is especially helpful when you adopt a re-homed bird. Great photos showing different postures and details explained in the writing! Great book for refrence.

Invaluable
Without this guide, I'd be spending thousands of dollars on visits to the exotic Veterinarian! It has wonderful insights on my birds' unigue language.

Disappointing
I thought this book would tell me why my bird does some of the curious behaviors she does. It doesn’t.

Some good and some bad advice..
There is a difference between toilet trained and pooping on command. Toilet training gives the bird the chance to take care of itself, pooping on command makes the bird dependent on you in order to relieve itself. There should be weighted baskets close by to where the bird is and are easy to access. To begin toilet training I would carefully observe my bird and when it looked like it wanted to "go" I would quickly put it onto the basket and then give lots of happy praise after it produced the desired result without demanding anything. Afterward remove the bird and go back to what you were doing. If you teach the bird only to poop on command what happens when you go to work or on vacation? Toilet training worked perfectly on my three parrots and they always flew off to their "toilet" stations and did not use me!

Must have!!
One of the best parrot books I have read! Very informative, easy to understand and super fun to read. If you own a parrot or are thinking about getting one then you have to read this book. You will not be disappointed!
