Good product with a nice hold and a more of a matte finish. Not greasy at all and lasts all day, plus it smells like pine tar which is great. A little expensive considering, but the...tub?...does last a long time as a little goes a long way.

This stuff is just what I’ve been looking for. Strong hold, but still keeps my hair soft to the touch. I can restyle throughout the day by running my fingers through it. I really love the fresh smell but it does fade away after a few minutes. The ingredients are as close to natural as I could find. The shine is not too shiny, it’s just right. I’ve tried using matte pomades and they just make my hair look dry and lifeless. I’m half Asian and British, I would describe my hair as being thick and straight, and very hard to style. I literally only used a quarter size amount, warmed it in my hands and that’s all I needed. I usually use a lot more product with gels or other pomades. For me, paying this higher price is worth the ease of styling and not putting a load of harsh chemicals in my hair. It would be nice if they did lower the price for their continuous loyal customers! The pomade works very well with a strong but flexible hold. It is a bit hard to put into your hair. It sticks to your fingers and pulls your hair, so you have to apply it to wet hair and let it dry.

I really wished I could of given this product a full five stars since its excellent at what it does. Which is to give a great hold with a texturing twist. I'm going to be completely honest, I don't think i've ever used a product in its category that is this unique. When applying to my hair it is the only product that is strong enough to give me a slick back which is a first for me since most products that I have tried are a just a little weaker by comparison. I know that this product isn't really intended for slick back but just wanted to throw that out there since it is special to me in that regard. Where this product shines through perfectly for me is in the beachy wave look that gives me. I have curly hair that, when paired with this product gives me a surfer/bedahead style that looks great while totally not being overdone, which is what I feel more people are leaning towards for anyways when styling. I am simply astonished at how good its able to just give me that same volumous texture that sea salt spray provides without actually using any! Now for the only complaint I have against this paste. The scent. Good god, the scent of this paste is just so overwhelming and just plain offensive. I have gotten so many remarks from others saying if I doused myself in axe body spray because of just how annoyingly strong this scent is. This stuff even attracts flies and other insects because of how strong and floral it is! If Firsthand Supply were to simply just remove the scent or just tone it down this product would be a 10/10 I will resume my hunt for a product that is similar to this but hopefully without such a unpleasant scent.

4.5/5 for the red jar texturizing clay! tldr: good for long shag cuts, fluffy hold and able to touch up throughout the day, earthy clay smell I have a long wolf/shag cut and naturally straight asian hair, wanted something to give it texture without having to bother with heat styling every morning. This product does great! I use basically a pea size amount and rub between my fingers and then scrunch around the ends of each layer and kinda twist rub the ends with my fingertips to style. Process takes maybe a minute compared to having to use a flat iron for 5+ minutes. The hold is great and it doesn't look greasy or clumpy, looks nice and fluffy. It softens throughout the day while still giving slight hold and texture. The best part is how easy it is to restyle later in the day, all I do is repeat the same scrunching and rubbing. Minus half a star because the scent is quite earthy and strong at the start. Not overwhelmingly so or to the point where it bothers your nose but you can smell the clay. It also fades throughout the day, but is still a little bit present. I just got this recently so I haven't been able to test to see if the clay is able to hold perfume to make perfume last longer tho, if so that would be a great bonus. I'll update on that later. Overall would recommend! It does seem comparatively pricey but the ingredients are all natural, the packaging is done with so much care, and I love their sustainability mindset! Plus, I think this product will last a long time since you only need so little (and I'm using it on long hair too). update: the smell fades fairly quickly and is easily overtaken by any perfume. I feel like it does help with perfume longevity when i spray onto my hair and I personally like the light lavender herby scent of the clay! Hasn’t separated or gotten weird, if anything the clay has adjusted to room temp and softened slightly in the jar so its easier to work with than when I first got it! Honestly highly recommend!

It's an overall alright pomade product with a slight tug when styling. Slightly confused because the way it handles. It emulsifies like butter but when applying it dries quickly and there's resistance when styling. I want to like the product but only if styling were as easy as the emulsification process. Scent (5/5): Smells like a clean/soapy/woody scent. Nothing strong Application (3/5): Confused about it... It emulsifies like butter onto my hand, but when applied to my hair it starts to dry quickly. You'll feel the tug/resistance. Meaning style fast! Styling (3/5): There is a slight tug when styling. Finger combing can only get you so far, but if you want to build volume a comb is needed. Wash-ability (1.5/5): Although its water based, it needs shampoo to get rid of everything. Water-wash only leave your hair clumpy and sticky.

Here’s what ya do: Get out of the shower and towel dry your hair. Use 5-10 sprays of a sea salt spray and work that into your hair. Blow or air dry your hair until it’s totally dry, then put a pea-size dab of this paste on your hand and rubs your hands together to warm it up. Work the product into your hair, from back to front. Don’t drag your fingers thru your hair, just grab fistfuls of hair and kinda crunch it. Do this all over, finishing in the front, then style. Boom, your hair looks fuller, has more volume, isn’t shiny, and is easy to style throughout the day. It will hold how you want it, but not stick there like glue. This is a low-shine, no-grease paste. A little goes a long way, you can always add a tiny bit more. Godspeed fellas

I’ve been trying to find a non toxic, clean hair pomade for my son for a year and finally found it! My son has thick, super straight hair and all products I’ve tried just makes his hair lay flat and look oily. Look at that spike! I used a dime size, warmed in palms and evenly distributed throughout. The texture is thick and creamy, It’s easy to use and easy to wash out of hands. For the amount that you need to use, I believe it worth the money. The real test will be when he gets home from school as he sweats a lot especially with this hot weather- triple digits. I’ll update soon to see if it held up all day. UPDATE: November 2024 Still love this pomade and it holds all day! What I love about it, is that it does not look greasy. It also smells really nice, not to overpowering. Buy it! It’s worth it. I also use it on my younger son and daughter to fix those fly aways.😁

Vraiment pas content... Le produit est tout rétracté et sec. Il faut appuyer fort pour ramollir la pâte..... Je ne suis vraiment pas content pour un prix aussi cher.... Je vais demander un produit de remplacement ou un remboursement !

I tried this as a replacement to the much loved OUAI matte pomade, now discontinued. It is easily as good, with great hold on shoulder length hair. Very happy to have found it.

Ich habe wirklich lange gesucht, unzählige Produkte bestellt und ausprobiert. Jedes Mal hatte ich nach einer Weile das Problem, dass der Halt nachgelassen hat oder mir einzelne Haare wie Antennen abstanden. Bis ich die Firsthand Clay Pomade (in der pinken Dose) getestet habe. Dieses Zeug ist der absolute Wahnsinn. Ich habe die Pomade heute bei 33 Grad Außentemperatur draufgehabt. Die Sonne hat komplett geknallt, ich habe geschwitzt und die Frisur saß am Ende des Tages immer noch eins zu eins genau so, wie ich sie morgens in Form gestylt habe. Da wackelt nichts keine Antennen nichts, die Haare bleiben komplett in der Form. Morgens kurz in die geföhnten Haare einarbeiten fertig. Keine Politik kein Stress den restlichen Tag über. Wer eine wasserbasierte Pomade sucht, die sich abends leicht auswaschen lässt, aber tagsüber hält wie Beton (ohne die Haare zu verkleben), ist hier genau richtig. Ich bin mega zufrieden und unendlich happy, dieses Produkt gefunden zu haben. Absolute Kaufempfehlung! PS der Gesuch gefällt mir auch sehr sehr gut.

I really like this stuff. Although it looks quite firm in the jar, it breaks down into a buttery consistency with very little effort. The low satin shine gives a natural finish that works especially well in lighter coloured hair, and the hold lasts all day for me (though I do pair it with Reuzel's Tonic). The ingredient list is another highlight, featuring shea butter, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, aloe vera and vitamin E which is a welcome change from many styling products that rely more heavily on synthetic ingredients. The scent might be divisive, though. It's a citrusy, woody fragrance that won't be for everyone, but I personally find it pleasant and not overpowering.
