It is a great unit for me.
#Multimeter is the perfect addition to my toolbox. I received it at a low or reduced rate, in exchange for, or in conjunction with, my honest and unbiased review given, thankfully! I have been wanting a #Multimeter available at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TWTLWT8 for a very long time. As my home ages, I need to replace receptacles. This helps me determine whether the outlet is dead, or, if, it is a breaker, which, needs flipping. It will also test rechargeable batteries, of which, I use all the time. I have a charger, of course, but, mine does not meter the charge. I need to learn how to use this, but, having it is great for, when, I have a guest, and they say, "We need to see if there's power to it," Shazam, I have a meter. It is a great unit for me.

Good low-cost multimeter with backlit display.
Price considered, so far seems to be a good multimeter. Came with battery installed and all. The built-in stand on the back is pretty handy I think, although not that sturdy feeling. The leads it came with are not the best... I think they're made from cheap metal, and they're not as sharp as I like. So you might want to replace them if you're picky. The backlight rocks though. Other meter doesn't have a backlit display. This is a must for using it pretty much anywhere. Seriously. Price considered, great meter. Would recommend to anyone who needs a basic meter.

Alright for the noob on a budget
Let me preface by saying that I have never used nor owned a multimeter before. I am experimenting and learning. It arrived cleanly in the box. The unit itself already had the battery installed and then was covered in an orange protective shockproof case. I removed the unit from the case to feel how it was constructed. I feel like it is a few good drops away from breaking so try not to throw it around. The case feels intact and not easily separated by hand. The orange case is nice and has a kickstand to prop the device up which works well. The unit starts right up and has a nice backlight, which I wished would stay on until deactivated. The probes feel really cheap at the connection point to the unit. I feel that I can damage them really easy. I tested the unit using known voltage of various new batteries. It read accurately for all of them. I cannot attest to how it works in other situations. Maybe I can write a more indepth review once I get some more experience with it. So far: It's worth what I paid for it. At this time I would recommend it. I give it 4 stars for something I expect in this price range. If it cost more than $25 It would get 2 stars.

It looked promising...
1/19/2016 I bought this unit because it had a backlight and was cheap enough ($ 8.68) to be used as a disposable meter. The unit itself is solidly constructed and the switch makes some reassuring clicks when selecting the various functions. The protective yellow rubber shroud with the flip out stand is a little on the flimsy side but functions as intended. Performance wise there was a -0.1VDC and -.8VAC difference when compared to my branded meter. What was really disappointing however was that switching the backlight on caused the DC voltage reading to increase by .03 - .05 volts when reading a 12VDC source and .5VAC when measuring a 120 VAC source. Also, when measuring AC on my unit the backlight sometimes flickered (even though the backlight was in fact switched off). I'm not sure if those issues were due to product defects or poor design. In retrospect I probably wouldn't have bought this unit had I known about those circuit stability issues. Update: 4/10/16 The positive probe broke after a few weeks of use. The continuity function is now malfunctioning. Sometimes when I test a component and there's continuity, the audible alarm will sound and remain on even when the probes are removed from the component. The only way to stop it is to temporarily switch the unit onto another function and then back to continuity testing. As a result of these new issues I am downgrading my original review from 2 stars to 1.

Okay quality, but great value
If I were reviewing this based on value (quality for the price) I'd probably give it 4 or 4.5 stars. It is just so damn cheap, and very good for the price. Overall, though, there are some issues. It isn't really fair to give this five stars, and give a $50 DMM also five stars. It works great and has plenty of features. It isn't auto-ranging, but for the price I wouldn't expect it. It also doesn't measure cap, and I wish it did. Seems accurate enough, though I can't tell without comparing it to a known accurate alternative. It is pretty big and heavy, which is good and bad. A nice rubber bumper protects it in falls. It is a little big to comfortably fit in my electronics box compartments though. The hard plastic end of the leads totally detached from the rest of the cable after a few weeks of very light use. Both of them. There was no hard tug, or any signs of breakage. They just... came off. A cluster of multistranded wire sat exposed on the end of the wire. I pushed the ends back onto the wire and held it in place with hot glue. It works. I bought a fancy set of new leads with various tips here on Amazon (gator clips, minigrabbers and banana plug) to replace the broken leads since I meant to buy new leads. In fact, you should buy new leads anyway, even if these don't break. Very useful. Three stars for lacking some features, but still a very good buy. I bought it before I knew I'd be serious about electronics. If you need one just for around the house, buy this one. It is more than good enough and so cheap as to be an impulse buy. If you are serious about electronics, pick up something a bit higher end.

Good value
Use these for general home issues, like outlet voltage and continuity, nice protective cover. The leads seem just fine, nothing pulling apart, so a little finesse with the probes should result in long life. I like the 9 volt battery replacement, cheap and easy.

Good: It works well enough
Good: It works well enough, back light and hold are nice features Bad: Tip broke off of probe the first time i used it. I soldered the end of the cable and it still works, but not nearly as well it should. I purchased it to use on a electronics installation in my truck, and it worked well enough for me to complete the task, but I'd recommend spending the money for a better one if its something you see yourself using more than a handful of times.

Good performance, inexpensive.
I didn't think this meter would work so well being it was inexpensive. But I've had it for a year and it's paid for itself many times over. It's accurate and easy to use. I've used some expensive meters in my jobs over the past 40 years, this meter is certainly worth the money.
