Datacolor SpyderX Pro: Monitor Calibration designed for serious Photographers and Designers

Don't buy this if you hope to run it under Windows 10. The software is old and hasn't been updated to include the latest versions of W10. There is no installation disk and you have to download the software from Datacolor's website. A bit of a faff but no big deal as the software installs fairly quickly. However, when you try to run the program you cannot find the SpyderX sensor as there is nothing in the preferred list. Clicking 'Next' reveals that the sensor is not detected and that's your lot. I had a similar problem with Colormunki Smile which stopped working after the latest updates to Windows 10 took place. I assume the developers haven't bothered keeping up with new software demands. It says quite clearly in the Specs on the Amazon display page that the SpyderX is compatible with Windows 10 32/64 bit. But it simply isn't. Returned to Amazon for refund. Hugely disappointing.

I had high hopes for this. I followed the instructions, which were very straightforward, and stood back to view the final results - with horror. Everything had a pink tint. I re-did it several times, always with the same ghastly outcome. Contact their support service, gave them all the details including an error message. They seemed familiar with this issue, and stated very clearly it was an issue with Windows 10, and not their device or software. They re-iterated this several times, and pinpointed it down to a specific Windows update. I was given very clear instructions, which I followed to the letter, and which made no difference whatsoever. After being given essentially the same advice by 3 different technical support people, a 4th person then seemed to completely misinterpret everything and gave me a list of instructions for how to fix a flicker when you plug things into the USB device. After wasting hours trying and re-trying their unsuccessful remedies, I gave up and sent it back for a refund. Given how many positive reviews there are, I believe this is probably a good piece of kit. BUT it clearly has problem with Windows 10 that they do not know how to fix. Update: another member of their customer support team contacted me with yet another supposed fix, which doubtlessly would not have worked. I explained that I had given up and sent the device back for a refund. A received a rather defensive and unnecessary reply stating again that the problem was with microsoft, and that "99%" of users who experienced this problem were able to get the device to function using one of their workarounds. The message finished by saying there were still two possible solutions: a) "revert to the previous Windows 10 Build or b) wait until Microsoft releases a fix". Not sure if these were intended to be serious suggestions, or just an attempt to have the last word. Whichever, I have reduced my rating to one star as a result.

Having spent a weekend trying to troubleshoot this gadget I have come to the conclusion that this toy is suitable for users with ONE monitor. If like me you have TWO then you will run into issues - namely the monitor temperatures do not match. This is despite both monitors being the same make and model and being connected directly to the same GPU. Having written to Datacolor I was told if I wanted the monitors to MATCH one should invest in the SpyderX Elite and not the SpyderX Pro and only expect a near match. Is that good enough? No, not really. I would expect a perfect match, not a slight temperature change to the monitors. I responded and received a reply from this tech support senior asking me to provided a long list of data for them to evaluate. This will take time, but I will provide them with this. I expect them to fob me off saying my hardware is old and there is nothing wrong with the SpyderX Pro. We will see. Ultimately, my recommendations are only single monitor users should buy this. Why? Because you will not be ANY wiser if the results given are accurate or not. Multiple monitor users - beware. Oh, yes, you could try using the DisplayCAL software with this device. Getting it going is pretty hard. In my case it was impossible to the point I gave up and when I tried to uninstall it my only option was to restore my Win10 to a previous point as it left so much residual junk I couldn't reuse the SpyderX Pro software from Datacolor. Again, beware if you use DisplayCAL.

i had high hopes for this after reading reviews and watching a few youtube vids from people better to judge than me.. i have a half-decent monitor dell 2412h. fine for me and no need to take out a mortgage to buy. i wanted to get some baseline for printing my photographs so thought this would do the job. Wrong! the colors are not right ,far too yellow. i had to download displaycal to get the correct colors. I am not happy with having to do this as at the price for the spyder x i would have expected it to work straight out of the box. displaycal is brilliant and needed support as it is offered for free. would not recommend the spyder xpro. there are other monitor calibrators out there at around the same price. or get the cheaper one and download displaycal.

No matter what settings I change on the Spyder app, it always results in the colours of my monitor being very warm! I already like to edit my photos to have a warm tone, so if my monitor is already warm then I won't push the temp up as high. But when I air drop the photos to my MacBook or my iPhone then it looks way too cold. I've resorted to eye balling the colours and manually changing the gammas of my monitor so that photos looks consistant on my devices. I've been in touch with Spyder and they say its job is to ensure correct colours are being displayed. Well there's no point in using this if clients are viewing something totally different than intended. Waste of money!

I had good review of this item here for the past few years, but felt I had to change it, I mentioned in my first review that the hardware was fine but poor software let it down, that just gets worse with the latest windows update the software will not save the profiles anymore, and this is a recurring problem as far back as 2012, you can check, considering the software has not been updated in years I doubt it will be fixed. I recommend looking for a better supported product.

I have invested many hours trying to calibrate my MacBook and Mac Mini with a Philips 4k monitor. I understood the principle of monitor calibration was to ensure that you got a consistent result. I understood that to mean across all devices. The attached image shows my Mac Mini on top and my MacBook below after calibration. I spent many hours with the help desk trying to resolve this but was getting very fed up with being asked to do the exact same things by different staff members. The calibration suggested by the unit is substantially worse than what I can achieve using traditional methods. I suppose that it will make a good doorstop.

Did not like this at all, I previously owned the spyder 5 and that was brilliant. This however didn't work properly and gave bad results to my monitor. I contacted the manufacturer regarding this and all I got was try this and when that didn't work it was try this and so it kept on until I got bored with it. Not once did they offer to replace it with another one. Will never go back to data colour and will certainly not recommend them to anyone. Thankfully they have a competitor who I would say will overtake them if they do not offer better support to their customers.

The item doesn't come with any user manual but there's a link to a site that can help you set it up. I found it fairly easy to do but as I have multiple monitors the info on the set up software was a not very useful in helping me so I had to google it. All in all I would say its worth the money and works well, just need to use it a few times to get the hang of it.

I bought this to replace my outdated one that only worked with my NEC calibrated monitor. Eventually the one that came with it would no longer work with the newer Mac OS. This is simple, the software works well and I can use it on a wide variety of monitors. I found this to be a reasonable price and If you are editing photos and you intend to make prints it's a must have as there is no reason to spend 100's of hours on your images if your monitor isn't calibrated.

Anyone getting into photography or anything related to screen colours being accurate. This is the best value for money tool to get. Rather than getting the topmost monitor, get this along with the 2nd best monitor to calibrate and KEEP the calibration accurate over long term. Any monitor or panel will shift colours and lose its accuracy over time. So, invest in this. Pro tip - Use the 3rd party software DisplayCal for a more precise calibration. With its stock software, post calibration you might feel the screen is a bit too warm (6500k) which is normal since I felt the same. Hence, I used the displacal software with this device to calibrate the white point to 7200k & then calibrate which seemed whiter for me personally. Might even take a few tries to get the perfect calibration for your screen or match several displays. Overall, very satisfied with the tool. You can try to calibrate the white point of TVs too but you'll need the displaycal software with white point measurement screen and keep it plugged to the laptop while placing the calibration tool on the tv screen. Connect the tv to your laptop hdmi and mirror the screen.

Tentei explicar que aqui não tem o X2 para vender e falaram que na Amazon tem, o que é mentira.
