Monitor did not work, I'm pretty cool with it
Well this will be odd to read considering how amazingly patient and cool I am. I ordered this monitor and it simply did not work. It blinked all colors of the rainbow and that's only when I jiggled the VGA cable a bit so it would actually transfer some semblance of video. It's like, WHAT THE HELL, right? I'm the center of the universe, I deserve to have everything go my way all the time. But seriously guys, it gets WORSE. I had it delivered to an address I was moving to, and I did need it for work right away, so it created a fairly stressful endeavor as I had about two hours to replace it before places closed and I did not have access to a car at the time. Had to work in the morning and everything. It was at this point I began preparing my lawyers. This was open and shut and there's no reason that they couldn't look out for my specific needs at all times. Then I submit a request to return it and promptly was sent an email with a shipping label to print out. I was refunded the freaking moment the package was scanned at the UPS store and now I have a monitor I like more, even though this one totally moved around and up and down and it was pretty cool for a lil' cheapo monitor. TL;DR: The monitor didn't work, wtf, they remember I'm super important and refund everything right away and now I have a new monitor but the old monitor and I are still friends.

Great monitor
After unpacking it, quickly realized this is a commercial -grade monitor. Very easy set-up, intuitive use--which is rare these days. Very good quality. Great picture. Not cheaply made. Will definitely look at buying NEC products again, though most of their products seem geared to commercial/industrial markets.

Non-uniform brightness
Monitor is environmentally friendly and the stand works very nicely (has a pivot mode, which many monitors don't have). The controls are easy to use. However, the screen brightness and color vary across the screen and are very sensitive to viewing angle, even at +/-20 degrees. I contacted NEC tech support about this and was told that this is normal for the TN panel technology used in this monitor. To get improved performance, I would have to buy a more expensive monitor with PVA panel technology. Interestingly, the Samsung and Dell monitors I have with TN panel technology are more uniform. I returned the monitor, as it was unacceptable for the photo editing I do.

great features & sharp display
Even in Jan. 2011, the selection of displayport monitors is limited. I bought this one because it has a displayport, LED backlight, pivot axis, and mounting holes. I could not find all these features together on another 19" monitor. The color and contrast of the image are sharp. Eventhough this is a TN monitor, it has better viewing angles than my 2 other TN monitors. The only con's are the price (due to the displayport) and the lack of a 3.5mm audio out port (needed since the 2 built-in speakers are really weak). The eco-mode is useless since it just reduces your brightness. You'll need to increase the brightness since it's low by default.

a good monitor at a reasonable price.
It's not the biggest, flashiest monitor. But, if you just want a monitor of a nice size to get some work done, I recommend this one. For me, the height adjustment is what makes it worth more than the really cheap monitors.
