A great addition to outdoor entertaining

At first look, the pole seems pretty straight forward; shove in ground and string up lights. It comes disassembled in 3 pieces (tri-tip, base pole and stringer pole), in a box that seems like it should fit a collection of them. Assembly was straight forward..PRO: the trip-tip doesn't attach with a spring button, but gets forced onto the other end with friction (give it a push, it'll fit). The hold is tight but I'd probably toss some sealant in case of water just to CYA. The base pole and stringer connection is different; while I enjoy the ease of the spring button, it leaves quite a loose connection and will visually wobble. For insertion into the yard, I'd use a wooden block and some convincing (aka elbow grease) with a hammer to insert it into a yard, especially if you have loose soil (for deeper) and clay (a pain to dig through). I'd prefer if they came in a pack of three just to utilize outdoor lights, especially at a $80 a pole (hint hint).

Decent pole

The description says it’s 4” in diameter. It of course is not. It is pretty sturdy and goes up easy enough. The forks don’t hold it in the ground very well if you have any tension on the light line at all. We attached it to our fence and that worked just fine.

Good idea but didn’t work for us

We were so excited to get this pole for setting up the commercial bistro lights. 48 feet with 24 lights. We were stringing them from two points on the house to this pole making a triangle. It is nice and tall and looks nice. Problem is it leans! We buried it into the ground but it just didn’t work. It may have worked for a set of Christmas lights but not for the patio lights that was covering 12 feet. We got two more stakes from Lowe’s and created poles and used the pole off to the side. It all looks good now. We paid $89 and are using it. Wouldn’t buy it again and definitely not worth it to buy multiples. Would be easy to transport. Seems like it’s been taken off the Amazon site. Perhaps they ran out with spring time and more people wanting to put up lights.

Tall and structurally questionable.

This pole is extremely tall. I love the idea of using these poles with lights! If doing this, you would need several and the cost is a bit overwhelming. The weight, due to the height of the pole is so much that I worry about the strength of it’s ability of standing up in the ground, holding much more than a string of lights. I was having trouble with these pictured hanging items, but would like to see how the pole works in spring/summer, as our ground is very wet and moist this time of year from the snow... if not frozen. The materials are amazing. I wish that this pole came with an arm attachment that would allow for hanging plants, lanterns, and bird houses to hang out from the pole, not against it. I feel like this pole isn’t much good for anything else, besides that of hanging lights. Structurally, it’s the only thing that makes sense to me. The bottom has a fork in it that goes into the ground fairly easily, but doesn’t quite hold the pole straight up while hanging anything with much weight. This has been my experience in the snowy conditions we are currently in.

Unstable - Prongs too Short to Hold Properly in Ground

We're very disappointed with these poles, especially given the high cost. The tines are far too short to properly hold the poles in the ground. Even when the ground is hard, the poles lean significantly from the weight of a strand of lights. The problem is only made worse when the ground gets wet.

Not for windy backyards

This it’s great for a regular backyard for us not a good investment because it’s so windy we live on a hill and the pole bend. I wish we invested in a stronger pole for our type of garden.

Flimsy & Expensive

I bought these extremely expensive poles to hang lights up over my deck. One strand of Christmas lights was too heavy and made the poles lean in. I even tried securing the poles to an adjacent tree, to no avail: They started turning and sliding. The short prongs at the bottom simply are not enough for the tall poles to support even the lightest of lights.

Not good for support

I read the reviews that said you needed to anchor the pole with something else (tie to fence, etc) but I thought with the lights I purchased it would be strong enough.I was wrong. I tried running lights from the house, to the pole, and back. Like a triangle shape. The pole would get dragged down by the lights within a few minutes. Not good for the price. Definitely heed the reviews and look for another option.
