So I was in the market for a new tripod mount because on my other mount I lost the little top piece that twists into the bottom of the camera. I was scrolling through Amazon and doing research on what I wanted and I stumbled across this one. To be honest I was a little hesitant at first because it was a relatively low price point, benchmarking from comparable tripod mounts. I had some reservations when it came to build quality and mechanical capabilities. I decided to go for it anyway because I needed a tripod mount for a tip I was going on and figured, worst case Id be out a relatively small amount of money. It showed up in two days, faster than the expected due date. When I lifted up the box, I was surprised by the weight. I opened it up and boy was I wrong. The build quality is what you would expect from a high end piece of equipment. The whole item has a nice, weight to it and gives you a nice state-of-mind while shooting because you know it is not going anywhere. It is a very stable piece of equipment. All the knobs are robust and allow for movement even with gloves on. Some of the knobs on this piece are also lined with rubber and ridges to allow for further efficiency in motion. When you unlock the swivel and rotate the tripod mount on the base it is very flush and allows for even continuous motion. The two air bubble levels on the top are also handy and accurate. There is also a little hinge that picks up off the camera screw on the bottom of the top plate to allow easier tightening and loosening of the screw without tools. Overall the attention to detail, build quality, mechanical fluidity, and overall aesthetic lends it to be a good addition to my gear. Highly recommend this mount. I am leaving on Saturday for this trip, so I will see how it performs under stress, but I have no doubts it will treat me well.

Solid. Strong. No problems. Mounted Sony HDR-FX1 high definition broadcast cameras on these. One is mounted on an Interfit INT-309 boom arm, and the other two are on "L" shelf brackets, drilled out to accommodate larger diameter holes needed, then to the wall. I love the details on these. Also the two tone color looks cool to me. The numbered and notched guides are great for recording your set up for when you change a setup, then return. I can loosen and adjust the camera position easily on one axis without totally messing up all of them, and incrementally too. The bubble level looks cool, and is actually functional, although I haven't needed it yet. The quick release doesn't have a safety, but just pay attention, be careful. You will need to buy a small mounting bolt and some washers if it is mounted like I did, so just be sure not to go too deep, just look inside, only go as deep as the visible first set of threads, not deeper. Sorry I don't remember the bolt dimensions. Use one or more washers to take up any slack to keep from going too deep into inside past the heads threads.

Bought this ball head expecting it to be a “cheap” but useful item I could use to mount my camera to my slider but I was wrong. This item is built like a tank and can take some abuse. It’s a metal ball head that’s sturdy and secure when you mount it onto the tripod, slider or whatever you’re going to use it for. I don’t have to worry about it breaking in the middle of a shoot. The panning motion is super smooth and doesn’t abruptly stop. The quick release plate is easy to mount onto my camera and back on to the ball head, no screwdriver required. The levels on the ball head are accurate and easy to read. I highly recommend this to anyone on a budget who wants a high quality ball head that’s reliable and easy to use.

Sturdy, apparently durable and well constructed, but, IT WILL NOT FIT MOST AMERICAN MADE EARLIER TRIPODS. I purchased this to use on a high quality tripod that is about 15 years old. This tripod was manufactured before the quick release interfaces and ball joints became standard equipment. I need it in time for a photo workshop and it did arrive on time. Unfortunately the screw on my tripod which connects to the camera was too small for the receiving threads on the device. I had to purchase adapters but they would not have arrived on time. So, I set up a return for this device. I subsequently was able to find the adapter in a local camera store (a dying breed of retailer) and it did the trick. So I canceled the return and I'm perfectly pleased with this now. The adapter you will need for this device is a 1/4" female to 3/8" male. The 3/8 screws into the hole on the bottom of the tripod mount, and if you buy one with the correct depth, it will fit flush with the base plate. The 1/4" female receives the 1/4" screw on your existing tripod. The result is a seamless, gap free installation between the tripod and the Pergear head. Note: The quick release plate on top has a 1/4" screw which is perfect for your camera. For the life of me, I can't understand why this is not consistent. A professional photographer that I spoke with suggested that this could be a difference between European and American sizing, but the more I think about that, it doesn't make sense since the European would be Metric and American ASA. The reason for the four stars instead of five is simply because of the hassle I had to go through. The seller should be providing that adapter with the tripod head. The adapter that I purchased from a local camera store was only $3. Amazon sells a set of these adapters of different depths. You will need the smallest one, not the entire set of five graduated reducer bushings.

So far I have used this with my DSLR and my smart phone. They handled the load with no problems. I also used this ball head with a device that attaches to my car window and took photos/videos as the vehicle was moving again with no problems whatsoever. I did however, have to order a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter to connect the ball head to the device I attached to the car window, but because its so well made and sturdy that's small potatoes to me. I have say the plate you take out to attach your device to it you do need a penny (or dime) to screw it in tightly but the plate screws into ball head tightly. I used this with a 4 wheel drive vehicle on the beach and not only did it hold everything securely there was virtually no camera shake with the photos I took. I HIGHLY recommend the Pergear TH3 Pro DSLR Tripod Ball Head. One other thing I should state: Let's say you're in passenger seat of a moving vehicle and want to take photos/videos thru the car windshield but you don't want to get a reflection from the car windshield, you can easily hand hold the Tripod Ball Head on the car's dashboard and not worry about it moving around.

Picked this up to revitalize an ancient photo tripod that i have. The old tripod has a pan/tilt head but I am unable to level it without adjusting the legs. This ball head will allow me to level it easily. I have a true fluid head for my main video camera. This head will be used on the second one, entirely for static, locked off shots. But this will allow me to adjust and set up shots much more quickly than my older tripod head did. The build quality is every bit as great as the reviews say. All metal construction and nice rubber gripping on the adjustment knobs. The panning base seems fluid enough where i would actually trust it for some minor movements in video. Does not feel cheap or poorly made. Extremely well built. Only critiques I have: 1) There are three knobs on the base. Apparently for vertical lock, horizontal, and an all purpose one? The horizontal lock does as it's supposed to: it prevents it from panning left/right. I can't figure out why there are two others, because both of them appear to just lock the upper ball head part in the same manner. 2) I noticed, right after i ordered, that for two dollars more, you can get the one with 2 plates. Might as well do that. I can't confirm whether the plates/base are arca swiss compatable. Some are saying yes. Some no. Very happy with this product. *** be aware that you'll need an adapter bushing if you want to use this on some tripods/sliders/equipment. It has a 3/8" threading and many require 1/4"-20. But those are cheap and should be something you carry in your bag if you do photo or video work regularly.

A couple caveats to my review: I have never owned another ball head for comparison, and I use this a relatively lightweight mirrorless camera, not a monster DSLR. That said, it seems to be of very good quality - amazing for the price, actually - and does everything I need it to do. The two bubble levels are a nice touch. Just a few very minor quibbles: It would be better if the quick release plate operated with a cam lever than a knob (it would put the "quick" in quick release); the quick release plate lacks an indexing pin, so the camera can twist on the plate when the ball is locked down (not an issue for me since my camera body does not have an indent for such a pin, but it's something that others might miss); when using a long (450mm equivalent) telephoto lens, I notice just a little movement of the aim when I tighten down the ball. This last item is not noticeable with shorter focal lengths, and as far as I know may be an issue with all tripod heads to some degree. But at one half to one tenth the price of some high end ball heads, this is one is tough to beat.

To me, a 5 star ball head is one that is easy to tighten and loosen, and one that doesn't sag. This head does not perform well on both accounts. I literally just returned from a dawn to dusk photo trip, and I am not thrilled with how these heads performed. When using a short but heavy f/2.8 lens (17-50mm), performance was adequate. It was a little frustrating that I felt I had to loosen and tighten both knobs to adjust, but once locked in, the head held stable enough for long exposures. Things were drastically different when I mounted a lightweight 70-300mm lens. Previously, I had mounted a very heavy 80-200mm f/2.8 lens, and noticed significant sag. I don't use that lens very often, especially not on a tripod, so I figured I would be fine with the 70-300. It was not, and I was disappointed. Each time I had my composition, and I tightened down the knobs, it would sag. I head to aim above my desired composition, tighten down, then let it sag to my desired competition. Even then there was no guarantee. I had to tighten both knobs down as much as possible. The combination makes for a terrible experience. I bought two of these because I wanted one for a tripod, and the other for a monopod. I have an older non-arca ball head which I can no longer purchase (to have the same mount on both tripod and monopod). I decided to get out all three and compare. The older ball head sags, but has a single very large knob that is very soft to tighten down, yet still locks it solidly. I tried both Peargear's and they are the same in terms of sag, but much more work to keep them locked. If I loosen the small knob (which I assume to be the tension) then the ball drifts too much. If I tighten it down to keep the ball from drifting, then I end up having to loosen both in order to move the ball again. After a while of tightening and loosening, I can feel my fingers beginning to hurt. Also, as you tighten the knobs, they actually force the ball to travel (same with the pan adjustment), so you have to fight with that as well. A good ball head should be forgotten about, and the scene in front of you be your primary concern. For me, on location, this ball head is too distracting. I've owned these for too long to return at this point, so I'll probably keep them. I can live with a less than perfect head on a monopod since you don't need rock solid support for it. For tripod work, I'm going to search for a better performing head with less sag and an easier to tighten knob. I'll put up with this one for a while, but I don't think I can live with it for the long term.

I needed this for a monopod and found it to all be working like you'd want. The ballhead is fluid in movement and when unlocked the body rotates 360 deg. All locking features turn nicely. Excellent value, good product.

I purchased this use it with my Dolica Proline GX650B204 Tripod to support a D7200 with max. Nikon AF-S 70-300 VR (full frame lens) and this ball head supports the weight of them very well. The finish is of very high quality and the ball head quite smoothly. It's difficult to get good tripods here in Kolkata and the well known brands are hugely expensive. This Pergear tripod is as good as any of them and provides a superb value for money. It's perfectly ok to go ahead and purchase this ball head is one looking for a quality product. It beats Digitek ball head tripods by a mile.
