Battery size & knife quality.
The battery you need is a CR17505. Although you can use a single AA battery, as it is the correct length, it's diameter does not fill the compartment. The knife leaves a bit to be desired. It has a tendency to open up in your pocket or when pulling out of your pocket due to the thumb stud design.

I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description, I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. Sellers have done this a couple of times in the past, and I was true to my word then as well as now. DR

Definitely recommend for bug out bag. Quality items. I was surprised.
Mine came today. There's a lot in the little bag. Once I had everything out I was very impressed. The bag comes with velcro American flag and was just cool to add on. The flashlight has no batteries and there was nothing saying what size or kind it took. Also, the advertisers say 'cold steel knife', but nowhere does it say cold steel. Play on words. BUT....that said....it is a nice knife. The spoon knife combo fits inside the whistle....pretty cool. Pen in heavy duty and can definitely be used as a weapon. Overall....I was expecting less....but, this package is very nice. Worth the money. I would have loved this as a Christmas gift.
